Description : True web content filtering

DansGuardian is a web content filtering proxy for Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD,
and Solaris that uses Squid to do all the fetching. It filters using
multiple methods. These methods include URL and domain filtering, content
phrase filtering, PICS filtering, MIME filtering, file extension filtering,
POST limiting.

The content phrase filtering will check for pages that contain profanities
and phrases often associated with pornography and other undesirable content.
The POST filtering allows you to block or limit web upload. The URL and
domain filtering is able to handle huge lists and is significantly faster
than squidGuard.

The filtering has configurable domain, user and source ip exception lists.
SSL Tunneling is supported.

Tiny C Compiler - C Scripting Everywhere - The Smallest ANSI C compiler
---

Features:

- SMALL! You can compile and execute C code everywhere, for example on
  rescue disks.

- FAST! tcc generates optimized x86 code. No byte code overhead.
Compile, assemble and link about 7 times faster than 'gcc -O0'.

- UNLIMITED! Any C dynamic library can be used directly. TCC is
heading torward full ISOC99 compliance. TCC can of course compile
  itself.

- SAFE! tcc includes an optional memory and bound checker. Bound
checked code can be mixed freely with standard code.

- Compile and execute C source directly. No linking or assembly
  necessary. Full C preprocessor included.

- C script supported : just add '#!/usr/bin/tcc' at the first line of
your C source, and execute it directly from the command line.

TCC is published under the terms of the GNU General Public License
version 2.

Fabrice Bellard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> is the upstream author.

TCC can be downloaded from:
http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/tcc/tcc-0.9.7.tar.gz

A temporary Debian package is already available for beta test from:
http://cyril.bouthors.org/tmp/tcc/

Description : Reverse mapping VM for Linux

The reverse mapping VM is an attempt at creating a VM more like the
traditional Unix and BSD VMs for Linux. The main changes are in the
pageout selection code, where traditional Linux walks the virtual
address spaces of processes. The -rmap VM walks physical pages instead
and maintains a reverse mapping from these physical pages back to the
  virtual mappings to these pages.

Apart from this -rmap also includes some other VM changes and serves
as a development and testing platform for all kinds of new VM code.

Description : web archive for mailing lists

lurker is a archive for mailing lists with a web interface and a fast
search engine. You can use it for your mboxes as for mailinglists from
mailman etc. It is still pre-alpha, and bad documented but usable and
IMO good enough for unstable.

Description : Convert GNU info files to POD or man pages

This package provides the info2pod tool to convert GNU info documents into
Perl's POD (Plain Old Documentation) format. From there, they can be
approximately converted to manual pages to be viewed by people who prefer
conventional pagers to the standard info viewer or Emacs.

The info2man tool uses info2pod and pod2man to perform the conversion in
one step.

[1] I don't actually know what the licence is yet; the entry on
Freshmeat just says "Freeware". :( I'll get in touch with the author
and ask; if it turns out to be non-free, I'll probably set this off
to RFP.

wmCoinCoin has been developped at first as a "funny piece of code not being
useful",
but the beast has evolved, and is not as useful as any other "news ticker" or
friends.

I have been packaging it myself for 2-3 months, as it wasn't included in the
mainstream
distribution.

As you seem to say, wmcoincoin is not used "as a joke" anymore, and is not only
restricted
to "some people". The beast has been included in the
Mandrake distribution
since two or three revisions

I've been using wmcoincoin since the early stages, and it has evolved in
unsuspected ways
more than once. The main coder is always around, and ready to correct bugs.

By estimation, the userbase on linuxfr is about 38-40 users, when counting them
by useragent.

Compiling programs is annoying for most users, this is why the packaging
systems exist ..

(Some statistics count 124 users that have been around using wmcoincoin during
the last month ..
woof(pts/3)@Newton:/var/www$ cat archive.dat | grep wm[cC] | perl -ne '@arr =
split(/#!:!#/); print $arr[0]."\n";' \
 | sort | uniq | wc -l

Can't we separate the Packages file by "section"? Or just
send
diffs to apt when updating ..

I just made some statistics out of my logfile, which, IIRC contains at least
last months stats,
and I can count up to 124 UNIQUE _registered_ users, using wmcoincoin with the
default
useragent set.

(woof(pts/3)@Newton:/var/www$ cat archive.dat | grep wm[cC] | perl -ne '@arr =
split(/#!:!#/); print $arr[0]."\n";' \
  | sort | uniq | wc -l
124
)

These are not official stats, though, but they're the only ones I have raw
access to, and this computer logs
day and night ..

Ciao..

Bug#129723: I am half-through packaging SQL-ledger...

2002-06-23 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Hi,

I thought I had done an ITP for this one long ago, but obviously not...

I have done some work on packaging already, so if you you don't mind I'd
like to take over packaging it.

If you insist then tell me, and I can pass you the work I have done so
far.

Happy hacking!
