OT Tunning your network
Well sorry for this OT question .. well i have a 100mbps LAN with utp cable & 100mbps switch hubs .. connecting about 60 + pc together. there are all flavours of O/S running Linux , Windows & Unix . the name resolution is done by DNS . there is a local webserver Apache running that provides media files to clients as downloads . the Issue is that the download speed i get on my local lan is ranging from 400kbps to 1.5 mbps both in normal & rush hour. Help with PPP Script
I am a Windows Administrator trying to switch to Linux Before i replaced my IIS web server with Apache & liked it very much . Now i want to replace my Windows Firewall/Proxy Server with linux ones . On the first step I got a Linux compatible Modem but am really stuck on this ppp script thing can someone help me oput here & share a script with me ? i will dail to my isp & send the password in clear text without any encription , this is the basic thing i need also tell me command i will use to dail i wont be using any Xwindows & will be dialing from command promt mode . removing exim & installing sendmail in debian
Well debian comes with builtin exim mailer deamon which is good but i want to replace it with sendmail mainly cause i have bought its book but i cant remove the package as it keeps giving me dependicies problem .. so how can i remove it & install send mail in it place ? anyone out there ? __ Do You Yahoo!? success story
i am a windows network administrator & about a month ago on one of my network i placed a debian linux server + apache webserver on the other hand i had a windows 2000 server running Ms ISA server the place on which these servers are running have some power outage problems that are beyond my control . the windows 2000 was a AMD athalon 750 mhz + 256 MB ram Debian Linux 2.2 was cyrix 300 mhz + 128 mb of ram now since the day of installation i had to reinstall windows 2000 3 times & that debain 2.2 is running as smoth as the day i installed it amazing very reliable this is my first linux experience & i must say i am very impressed .. debian totally RULES !!! :D & the best of all its fr not like that M$ OS i think that day isnt far away that ill become a LINUX administrator had this experience so thaught should share it with you guys take care Faisal __ Do You Yahoo!? help me with dailing out "never thaught it would be so difficult"
