ooops upgrading buster -> bullseye
upgrading buster to bullseye answered "keep old config" to a few things now roundcube is not working. Install I was using was from roundcube source not debian. I try to purge roundcube and start again,. but there are messages. apt install roundcube . Setting up roundcube-core (1.4.13+dfsg.1-1~deb11u1) ... How do I get rid of what causes the error and start again ? mick
Re: For all specimens of Homo sapiens - about COVID19
a few things The white house co-ordinator says "we don't have flu anymore". It is difficult to believe the figures, states get 39 thousand dollars for each Covid-19 death so they are putting Covid-19 down as cause of death whatever the cause. UK was doing the same thing as Sweden until the media went crazy and tried to scare everybody then UK did a U-turn and imposed the lockdown. The Swedish government virologists says if we never had flu and it turned up suddenly the reaction would be the same but we live with old people dying of flu all the time. Problem is how you get out of a lockdown without going back to stage 1. There are treatments for malaria that seem to stop the virus attacking the red blood particles and affecting delivery of oxygen. The elite types that want to control the society outside of the national governments are ridiculing talk of these as they want to vaccinate everybody. Interesting times. Re: printers
well I removed the http:// bit and it did something but who know what. seems that this lpadmin administers the server and I thought would inform client. not working but there is a more urgent problem in that weirdly after typing. lpadmin -h 10.0.0.107:631 -d HP_LaserJet_4000_series" php seems to have stopped working on server so no mail server just displays the text. there is error in apache2 error log [php7:error] [pid 5733] [client 10.0.0.101:53579] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class 'DOMDocument' not found in /usr/share/roundcubemail-1.3.8/program/lib/Roundcube/html.php:357\nStack trace:\n#0 so I don't know what goes on. apt won't put config files back
hello, after failing to get my roundcube dovecot installations to work again, as a last resort I apt removed dovecot and also /etc/dovecot. Thinking "that's OK apt will put them back." except "Not replacing deleted config file /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-managesieve.conf" for all the conf files which is not very helpful. Is there a way to persuade apt to put the config files back ? mick
apache2 error after upgrade Buster->Bookworm
this email may go anywhere. After putting it off for ages I upgraded the PC that does Dovecot, Roundcube and some other things from Buster to Bookworm. There seems to be an error with apache2. The apache2 index file I made as a page of links to things on the server. Likely you are not supposed to do it that way. A browser now offers to download this index.html instead of previously it being presented by apache2. So now the link to the roundcube webmail doesn't work. A browser offers to download it. Getmail, Dovecot seems to be getting the emails and putting them in the correct Maildir directories. although $ apachectl configtest Syntax OK $ apache2 -V [Wed Oct 23 08:57:39.760030 2024] [core:warn] [pid 4112:tid 4112] AH00111: Config variable ${APACHE_RUN_DIR} is not defined apache2: Syntax error on line 80 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: DefaultRuntimeDir must be a valid directory, absolute or relative to ServerRoot Server version: Apache/2.4.62 (Debian) Line 80 is DefaultRuntimeDir ${APACHE_RUN_DIR} uncommenting line 69 ServerRoot "/etc/apache2" and typing "source /etc/apache2/envvars" seems to have made "Config variable ${APACHE_RUN_DIR} is not defined" go away. I know I shouldn't type things without knowing what they do but source has no manpage. Likely it is something in the configuration files in /etc/apache2. I wonder if there is something in the configuration affected by the usrmerge. Anybody had issues with apache2 upgrading from Buster to Bookworm? mick

Re: apache2 error after upgrade Buster->Bookworm
OK, It will be some simple thing. I have the original install backed up somewhere so will compare the configurations. I found out what "source" does. Thanks to Karl also for the Mutt, msmtp tips. cheers mick On Fri, 25 Oct 2024 at 13:08, Michel Verdier wrote: > On 2024-10-24, aces and eights wrote: > > > ~$ systemctl status apache2.service > [...] > > Your config is ok. > > >> > $ apache2 -V > > I miss this point: you should use apachectl -V or apache2ctl -V if you > want to look at your running apache with all default values set > >
