Re: resize partitions using parted

Heed the warnings about meddling with the root partition. Did you run into this problem when you ran parted from a floppy disk after booting from a rescue disk? Or did you mean by "only use it as it says" that you missed exactly this passage in parted.texi (section 1.6) and ran parted from the hard disk itself. automatic shutdown on heat problem
What is the best way to shutdown (power off) automatically a Linux box when the temperature (on motherboard) rises to a critical value due to fan (or AC, ...) failure? (I am sure more people have lost hardware in such situations.) Greetings Sven -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Apt errors: Warning: could not lock the cache file.
I have installed packages using aptitude when my / partition filled up by some /etc ... files (from CUPS packages). Installation failed therefore. Now, everytime I call aptitude I get: "Apt errors: Warning: could not lock the cache file. Opening in read-only mode" and therefore can not de/select anything in aptitude. I have found some lock files for apt and deleted them. But this did not solve the problem. Any ideas? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
