2003-10-11 Thread ralph bacolod
I just read the header of an email from this list and
I saw that murphy.Debian.Org uses Postfix. Why is this
so? Why not Exim, which is suppose to be the default in
debian. Does this mean that Postfix is better than
Exim?

Salamat!

Nvidia driver install

2003-08-21 Thread ralph bacolod
Good day! I have a problem installing the nvidia
drivers which i downloaded. Im running a Debian Woody
box on a Athlon 2100 ,Asus A7N266 vm mobo,geforce2
mx400. Im dual booting it with WinXP. I downloaded the
driver from another machine with windows coz im not
connected. Anyway,i had to split the driver file coz
it wont fit in a floppy. I then put it together in my
box with windows. But when i try to run this file , i
got a error on line 580 which looks like a for loop
that checks the checksum. How do i fix this?

thanks,

Knoppix on top of woody

2003-11-17 Thread Ralph Bacolod
Hi! I just bought a knoppix cd and i want to install it on my computer. I
already have woody installed which is dual booting with XP. I have 2
questions.
1. I want to replace woody without overwriting my files in home. Is this
feasible? Home by the way is a different partition .How do i go about it?
Can you please show me good howto. Ive googled and it seems that there is a
lack of clear documentation.
2. I dont have lilo on my mbr coz ive read that NTloader must be in command
. So i just installed lilo on my root and let NTloader boot.. Is this still
true? Is it ok if i just let LILO manage the booting?

TIA

/etc/init.d/cups is not there? The same upgrade here went without a
hitch. Try 'apt-get remove cups' followed by a reinstall.

Do you have any output from the command 'lsb_release -is'?

In the cups package the preinst file checks for an Ubuntu installation
and removes /etc/init.d/cups if 'lsb_release -is' reports one. You could
put the file back and reverse what update-rc.d did. That still leaves
you with tracking down what you did to alter Sid's identity!
