bug reporting

1999-06-03 Thread Mary K. Honeycutt
Hi,

I'm fairly new to Linux and tried to build a package on my slink system
using a potato source
package (apsfilter-5.1.1). I couldn't build it with dbuild as the
error message said that the
diff file was larger than expected and exited. When I used just the
source and used deb-make/build
it quit saying that line 58 of the Makefile was missing a seperator. I
added a colon after the word include in the Makefile and everything was
fine. My question is: should I submit this to the BTS?
I couldn't find any mention of this under apsfilter on the list.

Thanks

M.

  Hi all

There are a couple of ways I've done this. One was by using a ftp
program. If you have
Debian already installed, you can use xftp or wxftp-gtk(non-free
section). Both seem to work well.
If you don't have Debian installed yet, you can use Net Vampire, from
win95, which detects whether a file is binary or text automatically (see
http://kulichki.rambler.ru/~vampire). Also, if you're using Netscape,
you can hold the shift key down while clicking on the file, and it
should copy the file exactly.(In my experience, this works sometimes and
not others).

Hope this helps.

Mary
