Install Errors
I put a computer with some old parts and a new 20GB HDD. I down loaded rescue.bin and root.bin from Debian ftp site with Netscape. PS/2 Mouse
I just installed a new motherboard. I'm running woody on the only HDD. When i plug in the PS/2 mouse the system hangs during the boot strap process. If I unplug the PS/2 mouse it boots fine, but hangs when I use X-windows. Is this an irq issue or should i reinstall? Thanks In Advance, Jack

I am trying to change my console resolutions. I log in to the console (not X-windows) and run a program, such as lynx or mutt. It opens at 640x480. My laptop screen can do 800x600. Exim mail is frozen
I retreived some mail using fetchmail, which worked fine. At the time, I used root to generate my "/var/spool/mail/USER" file. This caused some 120+ email to be "bounced". I couldn't get any mail to my USER. These mail got stuck in /var/spool/exim/input. I chown the USER file and I could get mail. But I can't get them unstuck from this folder. The exim doc's don't mention how to get them unstuck? Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm trying to get procmail to sort some mail. I want mail from zope mailing list to go to a folder zope and all the rest to go to $HOME/mail/inbox. LILO 1024 error
Sorry if this has been discussed before, I can't get lilo to boot a windows partition which is after the 1024 cylinder. I beleive that now it is able to, but...not sure how? The install CD was using Kernel 2.2.17pre6, I think. I thought it could be the kernel but it was NIC, a Realtek 8139, which by the way died. After replacing my NIC My Motherboard, ASUS CU4VX-M, wouldn't detect it in the Bios. To make a long story short, I think it has something to do with the kernel or modules? Setting hwclock time
I just did a clean install of debian potato on my Toshiba 2100cds. My bios clock reads Thu Jan 4 23:17:51 JST 1990. So when I use dselect to install numerous packages it stalls due to tar archive error that says ...future time stamp..etc This is very frustrating since any info, e.g. man pages, haven't been installed yet. I believe that hwclock and date commands should help but I haven't got them to work. and no man pages :-( Question: how can I set my bios clock to this century? or a workaround for the future time stamp error from tar? On my system, granted desktop not laptop, it's listed as /dev/hdb When the first floppy boots can you see the LS120 as hdb or hdc or hdd ? If you have windows already installed on the laptop, use rawrite to copy a 2.88 MB boot image onto the LS120 floppy. This should work. Otherwise, try a tftp install. -jack_morgan-
