Backspace doesn't work with xfce4

2007-10-10 Thread Alejandro Aguila Sáinz
Hi, I'm running irssi 0.8.10 (20051211 0941) on a xfce4-terminal in Debian
SID, and the backspace is not working, if I run it on a gnome-terminal or
xterm is running well, any idea?

Undelete files

2008-07-08 Thread Alejandro Aguila Sáinz
Hi! Today I just deleted a directory by mistake, it went to the trash, so
when I draged it back to my personal directory by mistake again I cancelled
the process, and now the directory is gone, do you know if there's a way to
get it back? Thanks!!!

Re: Undelete files [RESOLVED]

2008-07-08 Thread Alejandro Aguila Sáinz
Hi, after googling I just found the solution for my problem, actually I also
undeleted a lot of pictures that I deleted several months ago, here is the
solution (as root):

apt-get install foremost

After foremost is installed restart your system to the single user mode
(Selecting it from GRUB) , because in my case after trying two times in
regular mode I got a segment violation error, and send:

foremost -t jpg -i /dev/hda -o /home/recovery

Then reboot into regular mode and open the lauch application pop-up (alt+f2)
and send:

gksu nautilus

Then just go to /home/recovery and all your deleted JPG files are back, I
took like 20 minutes to show all the files because there was 4 GB recovered.
This foremost applications it's really cool, you can also recover a lot of
files, just check man foremost.

Thanks !

Problem after upgrading

2007-11-20 Thread Alejandro Aguila Sáinz
Hi, I've just made an upgrade and now I have a lot of graphic problems:

1.- I can't access to tty1 - tt6 If y try ctrl + alt + <1-6> my screen is
just black so I have to return to tty 7 (graphic mode).
2.- xfce4's applications present problems with colors, are displayed in a
very very low resolution, gnome's apps are not affected.
3.- If I restart my PC after booting it just get freezed, I have to restart
one more time by cuting the electric power because anything is responding.
4.- If I try the "exit" menu from the xfce's main menu does not respond and
if I click it again the session is closed and I don't have the restart,
close, turn off options.

If someone can help me that would be great =)

I'm running Debian SID (unstable)

Thanks!

Problem with console and locales

2008-01-21 Thread Alejandro Aguila Sáinz
Hi, I have a problem with my console, I changed my locales by using
dpkg-reconfigure locales but now the console is not taking all the
characters, I'm from Mexico so I use locales es_MX UTF-8, and console can't
see or type acents, if someone can help me would be great! Thanks.

Hey there! Thanks for your interest, and yes the font I have supports my
special characters, and everything was ok untill I reconfigured locales.

Thanks
