as the security team is pushing more and more fixes towards (o-)p-u,
and as this was originally a security fix, I'd like to ask the
Security Team for a curtesy: as we do not have -updates for lenny,
can you please issue a DSA with the regression fix?

OK. Tanguy, if you update your target distribution to oldstable-security
and upload to security-master, we can release it.

libmatroska: SONAME bump

2011-10-06 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi

[I'm not subscribed; please, Cc me in case of reply]

Hi all!

With new upstream release of libmatroska (we are now at 1.3.0),
there has been a new bump for SONAME made by upstream.
They moved from libmatroska4 to libmatroska5.

So the source package 'libmatroska' would provide the library
"libmatroska5" and the development library "libmatroska-dev".

About the last one, two packages in the archives have b-deps
against this devel lib:

 * mkvtoolnix, which requires libmatroska-dev (>= 1.1.0)
 * vlc, which requires libmatroska-dev (>= 0.8.0)

So there seems to be no problem with the dependencies. Or am I wrong?

I'm here to ask you which are the steps I'm supposed to follow to
prevent any problem in the transition with this new upload. At first
glance, there should be none but "asking before messing2 is always the
right choice ;-)

Thanks a lot for your kind replies.

so it's a bug in libhunspell, not hunspell ;-)

I would have done already months ago, see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=635515, maybe you want
to convince them to allow the transition it now that python-defaults is in?

Of these gupnp, gupnp-av, gupnp-vala and rygel will get sourceful uploads.

-rw-r--r--  root/root   /boot/acpi.ko

This appears to be due to the fact that the new kfreebsd-8 +squeeze1
kernel on -i386 builds acpi.ko as a module, which is then picked up
by

existing "install this module if it exists" rules in kernel-wedge.

Actually, the problem is not presence of acpi.ko itself, but the fact
that a symlink to this file exists in /boot/. This is due to an old
postinst kludge from pre-GRUB time.

Okay.

A quick fix would be appreciated, whether from the kfreebsd or d-i
side,
given the increasingly short period of time we have remaining until
the

point release is scheduled.

Attached patch should fix the problem. I can upload a fixed
kfreebsd-8 this evening (feel free to NMU if someone has time to
verify earlier than that).

Forgive my ignorance on the precise mechanics, but is it correct that
the /boot/kernel/kernel.gz symlink creation was also removed?

Would you be able to also upload a kfreebsd-i386 build? That would
help reduce the turnaround time before we can schedule a rebuild of
kfreebsd-kernel-di-i386.

Adam

This transition is the first major step of meeting the Python release goal for
Wheezy. The plan in this step is to drop python2.5 and add python2.7 in
supported versions. The default python will remain python2.6.

The affected packages have been identified:

http://release.debian.org/transitions/python2.7.html

Because the default python version isn't changing, these do not have to be
done all at once. They can be done in smaller batches so as not to impact
other transitions or overload the buildds. It would be best to do packages
that are used by other packages as build-depends.

There are a few packages that directly depend on python2.5 that will have to
be ported to a newer python version or removed, but the list is small and we
can deal with them in the context of the upcoming python2.5 removal bug and
not this transition. They are:

freevo
gozerbot
libtuxcap
nagios-statd
python-multiprocessing

Of those, python-multiprocessing will definitely be removed since it's a
backport of a module included in python2.6 and later.

python2.7 is already in testing. python-support, python-central, distribute,
and python-stdlib-extensions will need updates. I've discussed this with
maintainers/uploaders for those packages. They have either been in
experimental or are trivial to prepare and will be uploaded in coordination
with python-defaults.

Gnash is now fixed.

In wheezy, there's also:
- imageshack-uploader (OOD on some archs where one of its build-deps
doesn't exist anymore; need a bug filed),
- lynkeos.app (part of gnustep transition),
- paraview (RC-buggy),
- cherokee (FTBFS on mips; need a bug filed).

Cheers,
Julien

That's all done now. Please get the webkit source package removed from
unstable by filing a bug against ftp.debian.org.

openssl098 is still kept in testing by:
- ace (ICE on armel)
- beid (RC-buggy, candidate for removal)
- ipsec-tools (#619687 #643570, has reverse dependencies)
- isakmpd (#622051, candidate for removal)
- isdnutils (#618228, has reverse dependencies)
- pantomime1.2 (part of the gnustep transition)
- transgui (#632532, candidate for removal)

A fix for the ones with reverse dependencies would be nice...

I don't expect any problems because of API churn.

In fact, not even binNMUs are necessary, as I expect quick sourceful
uploads anyways.

I realized the symlink in kfreebsd-8 had nothing to do with this. The
actual problem was in kernel-wedge and kfreebsd-kernel-di-i386.

I've just NMUed both packages.

Debdiffs attached.

Yes, this is all curft for backward compatibility with versions of
Debian GNU/kFreeBSD that have never been part of a Debian release.

However, it's not the cause for this problem (see my other mail). In
fact it's probably harmless, and it's gone with 8.2 anyway. I
wouldn't worry about them.

Lenny apt-get update problem behoben ?

2011-10-06 Thread Frank Hofmann
Hi

ich habe ein Problem mit apt-get update. Wenn ich mein installiertes Lenny
updaten möchte bekomme ich immer folgende Fehler.

OK http://http.us.debian.org lenny/main Sources
OK http://http.us.debian.org lenny/non-free Sources
Es wurden 4642kB in 14s geholt (328kB/s)
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fehler!
E: Na so was, Sie haben die Anzahl an Beschreibungen überschritten, mit
denen APT umgehen kann.
E: Problem with MergeList

Mein Lenny meldet sich zwar schon mit Version 5.09 aber warum habe ich
dieses apt-get Problem ? Wie bekomme ich den Fehler beseitigt ?

Hallo Frank,

internationales Projekt gibt. Ausnahme sind die User-Listen, die es in
vielen Sprachen gibt und genau solche Anwenderfragen oft beantworten
können. In deinem Fall wäre deine Frage richtig aufgehoben an:

debian-user-ger...@lists.debian.org

Ich will dich aber nicht ganz ohne Hilfe gehen lassen, also:
