Hi

A -5 version was uploaded so the security fix did not make it into lenny.
Could we please get the -5 version of neon27 into lenny now to get the
security fix in?

ipsec-tools in unstable fixes RC bug

2008-08-30 Thread Thomas Viehmann
Hi,

apparently, #495214: CVE-2008-3651: memory leak is fixed in unstable by
virtue of the new upstream release without the maintainer knowing /
noting it in the changelog.

The new upstream release has a largish diff to the version in testing,
does the release team want the version from unstable or a backported fix?

Kind regards

Please unblock smokeping/2.3.6-3

2008-08-30 Thread Niko Tyni
Hi release team,

please consider
unblock smokeping/2.3.6-3

Changes:
 smokeping (2.3.6-3) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Unset LC_ALL in the init script because the daemon needs to
 reset LC_NUMERIC. (Closes: #489766)
   * Fix a bashism in the postinst script. Thanks, lintian.

Question: Is dir-or-file-in-var-www (see #470403) considered a release
critical FHS violation for lenny?

I only now realized this is a bug at all, and given the upgrade
implications I'd prefer to fix it after the release. The report at
lintian.debian.org indicates there are 45 buggy packages, although I
haven't checked if they're all in lenny.

Thanks for your work,

Please unblock gnome-games/1:2.22.3-2

2008-08-30 Thread Josselin Mouette
Hi,

please consider gnome-games/1:2.22.3-2 for testing. The changes follow:

   * 07_sudoku_tempfile.patch: new patch. Do not use temporary files to
 generate thumbnails. Closes: #489872.
   * Depend on gstreamer0.10-plugins-base. Closes: #494369.
   * Use guile-1.8 on ia64 now that it builds on this architecture.
   * Disable 3D in glchess because it is broken (see #495234).
+ Remove the recommends on python-gtkglext1 and python-opengl.
+ 20_glchess_no3d.patch: disable the UI to setup 3D.

BTW, guile-1.8 was built on ia64 but not uploaded, is there something
wrong on this side?

2008-08-30 Thread Frank S. Thomas
Dear RMs,

Could you please unblock linux-patch-debianlogo/1.11? This version adds
support for Linux 2.6.26. Unfortunately this required to add a new patch file
because the previous one didn't applied any more. Therefore the diff to the

think it's desireable to have a linux-patch-debianlogo package that can patch

Please unblock poppler/0.8.6-1

2008-08-30 Thread Josselin Mouette
Hi,

please consider allowing poppler 0.8.6-1 into lenny. This is a new
upstream, but which mostly consists of bug fixes, several of which were
reported to Debian as crashers.

Debian changes follow:

poppler (0.8.6-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Fix /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/poppler symlink to point at
/usr/share/doc/libpoppler-glib-dev/html/poppler instead of
/usr/share/doc/libpoppler-glib-dev/html; LP: #226677.
  * New upstream stable release; bug fixes, no API change.
  * New patch, 60_manpages-cfg-flag, drop unimplemented -cfg flag from man
pages; FreeDesktop #17222; closes: #461961.
  * Rename patch 001_jpxstream_int_crash to 10_jpxstream_int_crash as we don't
have that many patches; also add upstream bug id (FreeDesktop #5667) and
refresh to apply cleanly.
  * Build-dep on pkg-config >= 0.18 to make sure -lpoppler is only in
poppler-qt's Libs.private (it already is though); closes: #360595.

poppler (0.8.5-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release; no API changes, misc fixes.

Upstream changes consist of:

Release 0.8.6

Core:
 * Call error() when font loading fails
 * Be less strict parsing TTF tables (bug #16940)
 * Fix crash due to uninitialized variable

Qt 4 frontend:
 * Make the paper color setting working as it should
 * Make sure to use the correct page width/height for form widgets
coordinates

Release 0.8.5

Core:

 * Fix crash when Annots object is not of the desired type
 * Fix crash when obtaining fonts in PDF where XObjects link themselves

2008-08-30 Thread Josselin Mouette
Hi,

please consider gnome-applets/2.22.3-3 for lenny. It fixes the trash
applet not working without gvfs installed (and gvfs was not deemed
stable enough to be part of the default install) by reverting the code
to the 2.20 version that uses GnomeVFS. The patch is quite large but it
reverts to the exact code that was in unstable for 8 months without any
significant issues reported with it.

All changes follow:

   * ro.po: updated Romanian translation from Eddy Petrișor.
 Closes: #489196.
   * Pass --disable-battstat to configure if DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS is kfreebsd as
 battstat doesn't build under GNU/kFreeBSD; thanks Petr Salinger;
 closes: #494301.
   * 02_trashapplet_2.20.patch: revert the trashapplet code to 2.20,
using GnomeVFS, as we don't want a dependency on gvfs-backends just
for the trash. Needs revert post-lenny. Closes: #481762.
   * 98_autoreconf.patch: updated accordingly.
   * ja.po: updated Japanese translation from Hideki Yamane.
 Closes: #494094.

RFC: alsa-driver update

2008-08-30 Thread Jordi Mallach
Hi,

I've been holding this for way too long already, but it really needs a
resolution now.

There are several bugs affecting the release against the alsa-driver package.
The most prominent is that a a few drivers have non-free blobs in it, #483918.

There are also many functionality bugs in several driver and laptops which is
fixed in the new upstream release. Finally, alsa-source 1.0.16 will not compile
against 2.6.25 (so I guess compiles against 2.6.26 are even worse).

Fixing many of this issues isn't that easy in the current version in lenny,
1.0.16, so for a long time our plan was to ship the complete ALSA 1.0.17
release. 1.0.17 got released a bit later than we expected, so I gave up as the
freeze was already in place.

However, fixing these problems in 1.0.16 is challenging and IMO, with lenny
shipping 2.6.26, has little point. Lenny's kernel will have ALSA drivers
1.0.17, so syncing alsa-source to the kernel version is a good idea.

One of the reasons to hold this was that I wasn't sure if using alsa-lib 1.0.16
with alsa-source 1.0.17 would be a problem do to config missmatches or
whatever. After weeks of 2.6.26 in unstable, it doesn't look like it is.

Of course, alsa-lib 1.0.17 fixes another set of problems, but as it bumps the
shlibs (3 or 4 symbols added), I left it out of the question.

So, SVN is ready with a 1.0.16.dfsg-1 release to be uploaded. The bump of
version number only affects the alsa-source package, alsa-base is not affected
as it is all debian-only code. Also, alsa-source is optional, users will only
be affected by the version bump if they manually compile an alsa-modules
package out of it. That is a great minority of the users.

I think uploading only alsa-driver 1.0.17 to lenny is the easiest way to fix
the current RC problems in the package. If this isn't allowed in, we'll need
help backporting driver and compilation fixes to 1.0.16, as we're currently a
bit short on manpower on the ALSA team.

remove gluezilla from testing?

Hi,

gluezilla has not been getting the attention necessary to fix #480801.
It has been obvious that this will be RC for 3.5 months and is RC for
2.5 months.
As gluezilla never was released with Debian and has no reverse
dependencies, it might be a good candidate to be removed from lenny.

it only runs properly with non-free software). Popcon installed is 15.

As it never has been released with Debian, it might be good to remove it
from lenny.

Kind regards

Freeze exception for havp/0.88-1.1

2008-08-30 Thread Sandro Tosi
Hello Release Team,
I've just upload (well, tomv_w did :) havp/0.88-1.1 and I'd like to
ask you for a freeze exception (main changes):

- it fixes 2 RC bugs: 1 security already fixed on testing-security,
and a DoS due to not cleanup of temp dir
- it adds the Swedish debconf translation
- it completes debian/copyright information.

Thanks in advance,
Sandro

-poppler (0.8.4-1.1) unstable; urgency=high
- * Non-maintainer upload by the Security Team.
- * Fix missing pageWidgets object initialization that could lead to
arbitrary

The fix is already included in upstream version 0.8.5, but they didn’t
deem it worthy of a NEWS entry, apparently. I’ve updated the bug to mark
which versions are vulnerable.

Please consider letting haproxy 1.3.15.2-1 into lenny. This is a new
upstream bugfix release. It only fixes bugs and adds one missing
documentation point.

Here is the upstream changelog:

2008/06/21 : 1.3.15.2
- [BUILD] make install should depend on haproxy not "all"
- [BUG] event pollers must not wait if a task exists in the run
queue
- [BUG] queue management: wake oldest request in queues
- [BUG] log: reported queue position was offed-by-one
- [BUG] fix the dequeuing logic to ensure that all requests get
served
- [DOC] documentation for the "retries" parameter was missing.

Please remove tmw{-music} from testing

2008-08-30 Thread Patrick Matthäi
Package: ftp.debian.org

Hello,

I'm the maintainer of the tmw{-music} source packages.

Please remove the following packages:

* tmw (0.0.24.1+svn4436-1)
* tmw-music (0.2-1)

But please only remove it from testing so that it will not be shipped with
Debian Lenny.

Reason:
I'm in the current situation of the package unable to support it for the next
Debian stable version and I won't deliver a half working package to the
community.

I plan to backport it after Lenny is released for the stable users.

Thanks.

Please unblock micro-evtd/3.3.3-6+lenny2 and uboot-envtools/20080520-4

2008-08-30 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Please unblock micro-evtd/3.3.3-6+lenny2 and uboot-envtools/20080520-4

Per Andersson has added Kurobox Pro support to the installer as part
of his Google Summer of Code project. micro-evtd is a tool to control
the micro controller on the Kurobox Pro and can be used to e.g.
control the fan and LEDs. It's also needed to refresh the watchdog so
the Linkstation Pro/Live (which is partly supported in d-i) stays
alive. micro-evtd is a fairly new package that's currently not in
testing but a number of people have tested it extensively and it
should go into lenny to complete Kurobox Pro support. Adding it to
testing won't have any negative impact on any other package since the
package is self-contained. micro-evtd has a udeb that was reviewed by
Frans Pop.

uboot-envtools is a tool to read and change the config variables used
by the u-boot loader, used on a number of machines. It's useful to
have this tool in lenny so people who have installed Debian on the
Kurobox Pro can modify the u-boot environment in case they want to go
back to the original firmware. Again, uboot-envtools is new to
testing but has been tested by a number of reliable people.

Thanks.

Please allow resolvconf 1.42 into testing

2008-08-30 Thread Thomas Hood

Hi release shepherds,

Please unblock resolvconf 1.42. Compared with version 1.41 which is currently
in testing, version 1.42 adds two magic comment lines to the initscript which
are needed in connection with insserv.

# X-Start-Before:networking ifupdown
# Should-Stop: networking ifupdown

Apart from that, the only change is the updating of two translations. Here
is the changelog entry for 1.42.

resolvconf (1.42) unstable; urgency=high

Request freeze exception for ion3 20080825-1

2008-08-30 Thread Ben Hutchings
Please can ion3 20080825-1 be allowed to propagate to testing? It fixes
an annoying (not sure whether it's quite "important") bug (#492906), and
although it is a new upstream version the changes are very small indeed
(debdiff below). It is priority extra and also non-free so will not
affect the quality of Debian proper at all.

Thanks for the comment: the variable is set in the init file

$ grep -n "havp_mountpoint" debian/havp.init | head -1
33:havp_mountpoint=/var/spool/havp

and not changed along the script.

remove gpicview from lenny?

2008-08-30 Thread Thomas Viehmann
Hi,

based on the maintainer's comments in the bug log, it seems dubious
whether the bug #495968 (insecure /tmp file vulnerability) is fixed in
time for lenny. Given that it has never been released with Debian
before, it would be better to remove gpicview from lenny for now than to
risk releasing the vulnerable package.

Kind regards

T.

Updated ggzd-servers - unblock request for .2

2008-08-30 Thread Neil Williams
Steve Langasek asked for ggz-servers to be updated after the RC bug fix
so that it could depend on libdb4.6 instead of lidb4.4 which was the
result of the previous version.

After a bit of discussion upstream and a few tweaks to the previous
version, I've now got an updated ggz-servers that depends on libdb4.6
and which retains the previous fixes for the two RC bugs.

Depends: libavahi-client3 (>= 0.6.16), libavahi-common3 (>= 0.6.16),
libc6 (>= 2.7-1), libdb4.6, libexpat1 (>= 1.95.8), libggz2 (>=
0.0.14.1), libggzdmod6 (>= 0.0.14.1)

http://incoming.debian.org/ggz-server_0.0.14.1-1.2_amd64.changes

Please can v0.0.14.1-1.2 be unblocked as an optimised fix for the
previous RC bug fixes?

gridengine 6.2-2 unblock request

2008-08-30 Thread Mark Hymers
Hi,

I've just uploaded gridengine 6.2-2 with two fixes.
 * Use chmod instead of chown in gridengine-common postinst
 * Build the man-pages to reference sge_* instead of ge_* so that the
paths are actually what the packages use

The diffstat / debdiff is below. Please consider unblocking.

Thanks,

Mark

On this bug report, maintainer agreed for removal (CCed now). Also
maintainer ML was also consulted and no one objected. But they did not
act on it. That was the background.
