Bug#909636: kwin-wayland: kwin_wayland is segfaulting right after login

2018-09-25 Thread Shmerl
Package: kwin-wayland
Version: 4:5.13.5-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When using KWin Wayland session in Debian testing with AMD Vega 56 GPU
(connected over DisplayPort),
it cores right after log-in and falls back into sddm. I managed to produce a
core backtrace - it's
happening in the interaction between kwin_wayland and wayland-client.

Wayland and KDE developers so far didn't figure out the cause. Mesa developers
suggested,
that it can be a Debian specific issue, since it doesn't happen on some other
up to date distros.

See Wayland bug reference below for a backtrace of the crash.

* corresponding Wayland bug:

* corresponding KDE bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396066

Configuration:

Current Debian testing Linux (x86_64) (kernel: 4.19.0-rc4), KDE Plasma 5.13.5.
kwin-wayland 5.13.5
libwayland-client0 1.16.0
GPU: Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 (amdgpu), DisplayPort connection.

Bug#949340: sddm should by default install sddm-theme-debian-breeze instead of sddm-theme-debian-maui

2020-01-19 Thread Shmerl
Package: sddm
Version: 0.18.0-1+b2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Currently, when selecting KDE during Debian installation, it by default
installs sddm-theme-debian-maui (through sddm installation).

It should instead install sddm-theme-debian-breeze, which is much better
integrated with KDE's default Breeze theme.

Thanks!

Bug#1053665: libavif mismatch?

2024-02-13 Thread Shmerl
I see that during the build the package is installed, but it's somehow not
compatible?
Does KDE expect an older version or it's cmake not doing it right?

Does it need an upstream bug report or may be Plasma 6 is handling this
better?

Bug#1072887: konsole: Please package version 24.05.0 it has important features

2024-06-09 Thread Shmerl
Package: konsole
Version: 4:23.08.1-1+b1
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: shtetldik+shm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

please package konsole 24.5.0. It has support for using resizeable tokens:

https://invent.kde.org/utilities/konsole/-/commit/1b075680f07665b300fc755766ffef7958094a20

That allows applying a well functioning patch for OSC52 support on top of it.

See:

* https://invent.kde.org/utilities/konsole/-/merge_requests/767
* https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372116

Current outdated version of konsole in Debian doesn't let it work with osc52
well
even when patched.

Thanks!

Bug#1013896: qtbase-opensource-src: Use KDE Qt as upstream instead of qt.io

Dear Maintainer,

KDE team maintains important patchset over official Qt that has a lot of bug
fixes especially for the Wayland session use case.

May be you can switch upstream directly to KDE Qt instead of pulling it from
qt.io and then trying to add some patches?

See: https://invent.kde.org/qt/qt/qt5/-/tree/kde/5.15

I know Wayland Qt patches are critical for stable Plasma experience,
but I'm not an expert on all of these.

May be some communication between upstream KDE developers and Debian
team would be good here? Expecting users to know what patches are important
isn't a very reliable method.

Thanks!

Bug#1088883: konsole: Compose key not working on wayland

2024-12-02 Thread Shmerl
FYI, I just tried using Compose key in Konsole, and it works for me.

The way it's set for me is:

*System Settings > Keyboard > Key Bindings > *
*Position of Compose Key > Menu*

That makes my right Compose key (which KDE treats as Menu key)
work correctly.

Doing something like Compose + o + o produces a degree sign:
°

I'm also using Wayland session, konsole 24.08.0, Plasma 6.x.
