Bug#303449: kdepim-dbg for better backtrace info?

2005-04-06 Thread Bob Tanner
Package: kdepim
Version: 4:3.3.2-3
Severity: wishlist

Would it be possible to build a kdepim-dbg package so when things core the
backtrace would be more informative?

I'm willing to do the work, just want to get official dev advise on do this sort
of thing.

It may open a huge can of worms :-)

his backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the
crash.

(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".

I'm also seeing different behaviors running knode stand-alone vs knode kpart
(inside kontact). Backtrace for both attached.

Post again here with the -sync options

Bug#356142: Tags added: moreinfo?

2006-04-06 Thread Bob Tanner
I see 'Tags added: moreinfo', what in particular are you looking for?

I've attached several backtraces with kdepim-dbg, qt-x11-free-dbg and
kdelibs-dbg installed.

Willing to help if you can tell me more what you are looking for.

Thanks.

Bug#235246: kdmrc from what directory?

2004-02-27 Thread Bob Tanner
Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.2.0-0pre1v1
Severity: important
Tags: experimental

Some confusion, on where kdmrc is suppose to live. I see it in 2 different
areas:

/usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc
/etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc

Executing kdm -debug 255, I see kdm_config is looking in
/usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc

kdm_config[32566]: reading config /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc ...

# dpkg -S kdmrc
kdm: /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdm/kdmrc-ref.docbook
kdm: /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc

So, I'm not sure what package dropped files into /etc/kde3/kdm/ and why they
didn't get cleaned up
on an upgrade.

Bug#241633: kgpg: Adding shedder icon to desktop gives unknown icon

2004-04-02 Thread Bob Tanner
Package: kgpg

Allowing kgpg to add the shedder to the desktop give you a unknown icon.
Ie, open select icon dialog, navigate to the Mimetype icons, and the
unknown icon is what is shown for the shedder.

Bug#269789: Which version of gnupg?

2004-09-23 Thread Bob Tanner
What is the version of gnupg that is required?

Unstable is 1.2.5 I see 1.2.6 on the gnupg home page.

Something even newer then 1.2.6?

Bug#317231: kde + cups ipv4 or cups ipv6 (or both)

2005-07-06 Thread Bob Tanner
/home/rte/projects/debian/kdelibs-3.4.1/./kdeprint/cups/cupsdconf2/cups-util.c:445:

error: 'http_addr_t' has no member named 'sin_addr'

libcupsys2-dev 1.1.99.b1-2
libcupsys2-dev: /usr/include/cups/http.h

Looking at /usr/include/cups/http.h sure enough there is no sin_addr, the
change looks to be related to cups support ipv4 and ipv6.

Going back to libcupsys2-dev 1.1.23-10 I see:

struct sockaddr_in hostaddr

So, either need to hack on kdeprint/cups/cupsdconf2/cups-util.c to support the
new cups ipv4/ipv6 code or put in a Build-Depends: libcupsys2-dev (<< 1.1.99)
(or something like that).

$ apt-cache policy libcupsys2-dev

My guess is you want to build against the experimental package and not the
unstable package.

Bug#317363: gcc 4.0.0-1 on powerpc the problem

2005-07-07 Thread Bob Tanner
Did some testing using this simple program.

#include
#include
#include

int main() {
register int32_t *buf=buf;
int i;

IXDR_PUT_LONG(buf, i);
}

gcc-3.3.6 on i386 just gives a warning.

i386$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3.6 (Debian 1:3.3.6-7)
i386$ gcc spike.c
spike.c: In function `main':
spike.c:9: warning: use of cast expressions as lvalues is deprecated

But gcc-4.0.0 (which is the default compiler for powerpc debian unstable)
gives an error.

powerpc$ gcc --version

Bug#317363: debian unstable powerpc, gcc-4.0.0, and glibc-2.3.5

2005-07-07 Thread Bob Tanner
Since gcc-4.0.0 is the compiler for debian unstable on powerpc, it looks like
glibc-2.3.5 is a Build-Depend.

in glibc-2.3.5 IXDR_PUT_LONG has been redefined as follows

#define IXDR_PUT_INT32(buf, v) (*(buf)++ = (int32_t)htonl((uint32_t)(v)))
#define IXDR_PUT_LONG(buf, v) ((long)IXDR_PUT_INT32(buf, (long)(v)))

Removing the cast fixes the gcc-4.0.0 error.

I took the macro definitions from
glibc-2.3.5/build-tree/glibc-2.3.5/sunrpc/rpc/xdr.h that is in debian
experimental.

Changing my testing program to the following on debian unstable powerpc:

#include
/* #include  */
#include

#define IXDR_PUT_INT32(buf, v) (*(buf)++ = (int32_t)htonl((uint32_t)(v)))
#define IXDR_PUT_LONG(buf, v) ((long)IXDR_PUT_INT32(buf, (long)(v)))

int main() {
register int32_t *buf=buf;
int i;

IXDR_PUT_LONG(buf, i);
}

Compiles clean.

Bug#328728: libqt3-mt: Multiple apps segfault in QShared::deref()

2005-09-16 Thread Bob Tanner
Package: libqt3-mt
Version: 3:3.3.4-8
Severity: important

Recently upgrade from 3.3.3 to 3.3.4-8 and I have several application that all
segfault in the same class and method.

#5  0xb702ff57 in QString::operator= (this=0xbfffebec, [EMAIL PROTECTED])
at tools/qstring.cpp:1594

The partital application list: kmail, kontact, pwmanager, wlassistant, showeq,
kate.

Using pwmanager (http://pwmanager.sourceforge.net) as an example. Same tarball,
linked libqt3c102-mt (3:3.3.4-3) is rock solid. Recompile pwmanager and link
against libqt-mt (3:3.3.4-8) consisten segfault in QShared::deref
(this=0x34343942) at qshared.h:50.
