Bug#583138: Now Akondi is having problems

2015-01-03 Thread Sandro Knauß
tag 583138 +moreinfo
thanks

Hey,

It is a quite old report - Is this still an issue?

> I added the report

Well this look like akonadi has stuck in upgrading. The cleanest solution is
to delete completly akonadi data+conf and start with a clean directory ( if
you do not have any data stored only there).

> Is there a way to revert back to an older version of kaddressbook that works
better?

No way to go back. Okay you can compile the old version at our own. It also
works with current KDE (I know guys who did this), but I really do not suggest
this solution.
I would give the upcoming release a try.

sandro

Package: kaddressbook
Version: 4:4.4.11.1+l10n-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

I'm using kaddressbook to manage all my contacts. Under the "Settings"
menu item, I have "Show Simple View" not selected so I have a three column
view with "Address Books", "Name" and the details. When I'm clicking on
the "Name" column header, it gets sorted and shows the arrow indicating
the sorting direrction. So far so good.

Now I'm closing kaddressbook and opening it again. The "Name" column
header still shows the sorting arrow, but the contents isn't sorted. It
looks like it is in an order of contact creation. Toggeling the "Name"
column header or the "Show Simple View" menu item does however result
in a correctly sorted column.

I think the problem is that the sort method isn't executed on startup.

In my configuration is the local file "contacts.vcf" defined as an
"Akonadi Resource" to hold the contacts for KDE.

Dear Maintainer,

I'm NOT using KDE as desktop but LXDE or XFCE and only want to use kaddressbook.
When I start kaddressbook the first time after I logged in all this
arkonadi-things
are started and finally kaddressbook.

When I close kaddressbook by closing the window or using the menu-item "exit
(Crtl-Q)"
the window is closed but the process kaddressbook remains as I can see with a
taskmanager.
When I than want to start kaddressbook again nothing happens. The only
possibility to start
kaddressbook a second time is to end the process with a taskmanager first and
than start
the program again.

The problem only occurs on the first run of kaddressbook. When I close
kaddressbook on the
second run all works fine: the window is closed and the process as well (only
the
arkonadi-processes remain), and I can restart the program without problems.

I think closing the program should stop the process as well also in the first
run, so
that the program could be restarted without problems; especially for an
addressbook, which
is normaly used more than one time a day it would be a nice feature, when it
could be opened
more than one time without problems and without using a task-manager ;-)

The global catalog service is used for Exchange GAL to distribute the
global contacts. Access is possible with LDAP on port 3268 without SSL
and on port 3269 with SSL. With the Kaddressbook LDAP Server settings
set to connect without SSL on port 3268 it works without problems. With
enabled SSL on port 3269 it doesn't work. The error is

Could not connect to host

Additional info: .

The same configuration on icedove works without problems with SSL.

Thank you for your work
