Bug#530602: [system-config-printer-kde] No printer setup option in System Preferences - KDE4.2

2009-05-26 Thread Antonio Marcos López Alonso
Package: system-config-printer-kde
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I performed a fresh install of Debian Squeeze and used Debian migration tool
to convert my previous KDE3.5 settings into 4.2.

There is no printer setup option in KDE System Preferences though it must be
there. I tried reinstalling python-dev and system-config-printer* as
recommended elsewhere to no avail.

What is the rationale for MUST in your statement? system-config-printer-kde is
not a KCM module but an external python based application hence it does not
appear in systemsettings.

Hi,

There is a printer setup option by default in KDE 3.5 (System Preferences), so
I missed it in 4.2. I searched around for this issue and found the following:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdeadmin-kde4/+bug/331192

Though it is not exactly the same bug, it is the closest thing I found related
to what I am experiencing. Since this bug targets system-config-printer-kde, I
supposed this was the proper package to address.

Also,

http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.2_Feature_Plan

states that kdeprint has been replaced by system-config-printer-kde.

If you mean that KDE4.2 has not (yet?) a printer setup option integrated into
System Settings, I will close this bug inmediately.

Unfortunately not. At least in testing. I can use left/right to select
an article, and up/down for scrolling in the article, but left/right
scrolling in the article works just with the mouse.

As I said it is a python application, not a KCM module and hence it cannot be
integrated into systemsettings. Just run it from K menu.

Hello Fabian,
your problem sounds to me like the now referenced upstream bug.

You might want to try a dual-head setup with the latest radeon driver (the free
one). Though that would mean loss of 3D support at least until the end of the
year, if I remember correctly what glisse said yesterday to someone else on
#radeon (IRC). But it would be a way to nail down the culprit (non-free driver
or some part of KDE).

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

Dear Tom,
I've checked your bug report regarding the switches of the mouse handedness and
wasn't able to reproduce it with the latest KDE packages (4.2.2). Could you
please check if the bug still exists for you or otherwise close it?

If it still persists it might be interesting what mouse you're using. And maybe
it would be nice if you could test with an USB mouse too.

Kind regards,

Dear Saulo,
as you can see from the lines above, your bug report corresponds to an upstream
bug, which shouldn't be present anymore, if that should be the case, please
close the bug (see [0] for details how to do that).

I couldn't reproduce your problem with KDE 4.2.2 and several compressed files
(.zip, .tar.bz2). Therefore I've marked Version 4:4.2.2 as »notfound«.

If the problem still persists, consider reporting your bug upstream directly and
change the »forwarded« address. You should mark the version you've found the bug
in (probably 4.2.2. right now) then as »found«. Feel free to contact me for
further assistance or refer to [1].

Dear Saulo,
I've installed joe (3.7-1) and tried pasting the data provided by you. This
didn't result in a freeze of Konsole (4:4.2.2-1). Furthermore it doesn't seem,
that the problem was/is restricted to joe (see the upstream bug report for

if so: does the problem still exist?

In any case I'd like you to verify the title I've given your bug report (you
haven't given one). If it doesn't look correct, please retitle the bug or drop

I have been using kopete to access ICQ for quite a while. For a period
of three months, I used gaim instead.

Since I have migrated back to kopete, at every program start I get a
dialog box titled "Add contacts to server list", containing a list of
UINs and the question "The following contacts are not on your contact
list. Would you like to add them?" and an "Add" and a "Do not add"
button.

Whatever I do, the dialog comes back every time, and it always
contains the same UINs. It doesn't care whether I marked an UIN and
clicked on "do not add" the last time, it always shows the same UIN
list over and over.

Greetings
Marc

Package: kgpg 1.2.2
Version: 4:3.5.5-3 (Etch/Stable)

Hi,

UID names that have colons do not display properly:

Rather than GSWoT:US29

We see GSWoT\x3aUS29

Every instance of :
is replaced with \x3a

I'm not sure, but I think this might be POSIX or ABNF notation

Is this related to the unicode problem? If so, is there a patch coming
for Etch/Stable?

Thanks,

Lance

Bug#530696: kdebase-runtime depends on exactly one icon theme

2009-05-26 Thread Ben Klein
Package: kdebase-runtime
Version: 4:4.2.2-1

kdebase-runtime depends on kde-icons-oxygen, disallowing any other
(e.g. smaller-on-disk) icon themes from being installed instead (they
must be installed in addition to oxygen theme). I consider this an
"important" bug, as the oxygen theme is about 86MB uncompressed
whereas kde-icons-mono is about 1/10th of that, so this sort of thing
would be a consideration for platforms with limited disk space.

If possible, I'd like to see kdebase-runtime depend on a virtual
package (e.g. kde4-icons) that can then be provided by each of the
appropriate kde-icons theme packages. This way I wouldn't need to
download a 65 MB package every time my few KDE apps get an update :).

Incomplete upload found in Debian upload queue

2009-05-26 Thread Archive Administrator
Probably you are the uploader of the following file(s) in
the Debian upload queue directory:
  koffice_2.0.0-1.diff.gz
  koffice_2.0.0-1.dsc
  koffice_2.0.0-1_all.deb
  koffice_2.0.0.orig.tar.gz
This looks like an upload, but a .changes file is missing, so the job
cannot be processed.

If no .changes file arrives within 22:45:43, the files will be deleted.

If you didn't upload those files, please just ignore this message.

Greetings,

Your Debian queue daemon
