Bug#513674: kdebase-workspace: please tighten build-dep on libnm-util-dev

2009-01-31 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: kdebase-workspace
Version: 4:4.2.0-1
Severity: important

Currently kdebase-workspace build-deps on
network-manager-dev (>= 0.7) and
libnm-util-dev (which will pull 0.6.6)

This is not good. I'd suggest to bump the build dependency on
libnm-utils-dev to (>= 0.7) to make sure it also compiles against the
0.7.0 version of network-manager (from experimental).
Afaik the 0.7 networkmanager backend of solid is the one which is actively
worked on.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#513643: systemsettings: Missing dependency?

2009-01-31 Thread Torquil Macdonald Sørensen
Thanks Sune! It worked, because after running it, I get some
configuration category icons in the systemsettings window. However, the
settings for file associations only appeared after installing
kdebase-bin. I had to re-run kbuildsycocoa4 after installing it, because
otherwise there was no change. So I guess this can be closed if the
patch will fix it for sure.

Thanks again
Torquil Sørensen

Package: systemsettings
Version: 4:4.2.0-1
Severity: normal

Maybe the systemsettings package is missing a dependency? After installing
ktorrent and systemsetting from experimental (and therefore everything they
depend on), systemsettings doesn't show any configuration itens when I
start it, only a window with a grey area. In the terminal, I get the
message:

t...@tmac ~$ systemsettings
systemsettings(6772)/kdecore (trader) KServiceTypeTrader::defaultOffers:
KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType "SystemSettingsCategory" not found
findServiceByDesktopPath: not found

'

I needed to install systemsettings because ktorrent uses the KDE file
associations, and those had to be modified. I did not want anything else
from KDE, apart from what those two packages depend on of course.

Best regards

Good.
The patch is expected to fix the thing that triggers sycoca4 to be rebuilt
automatically (same thing as kbuildsycoca4 does).

I'm closing this now, feel free to reopen if you can reproduce it with
kdelibs5 4:4.2.0-3 or larger.

Bug#513718: kdepimlibs5-dev: missing Replaces: kdepimlibs-data (<< 4:4.2.0-1)

2009-01-31 Thread Adeodato Simó
Package: kdepimlibs5-dev
Version: 4:4.2.0-1
Severity: serious

Hello,

/usr/share/dbus-1/interfaces/org.kde.KResourcesManager.xml is shipped
both by kdepimlibs-data 4.1.0 and kdepimlibs5-dev without a Replaces.

Either the move is a mistake (which I'm sensing it could be), or
Replaces are missing.

cheers,

Bug#513721: kde-window-manager: OpenGL effects not working - KWin 4.1 against libkwineffects 4.2

2009-01-31 Thread Michal Pokrywka
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.1.4-1
Severity: normal

Hi,
I think that 4.2.0 version of libkwineffects is not working with
kde-window-manager 4.1.4, so is some restrictions needed to prevent
users to obtain such configuration? Or whatever should be done in such
situation. If nothing then cancel this bug report :)

In details the problem is that when I try to enable OpenGL effects KWin
crashes (SIGSEGV). No symbols found in Thread 0 backtrace.

Bug#513734: kdebase-workspace: locking the screen is not working if kdm is not installed

2009-01-31 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: kdebase-workspace
Version: 4:4.2.0-1
Severity: important

Hi,

if kdm is not installed locking the screen does not work.
The error message is something like:

Will not lock screen as unlocking would be impossible.
No appropriate greeter plugin configured.

I'm suspecting that the workspace needs one of those files:
(not sure if all of them are needed)

/usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_winbind.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_generic.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_classic.so
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdm_greet

As screen locking is something that should really work in a default
desktop installation, the kdebase-workspace should either depend on kdm
or those files should be moved into a more central package like
kdebase-workspace-bin.

Cheers,
Michael

The current unstable package for i386 doesn't provide /usr/lib/libjack.la as
advertised in packages.debian.org.
It may just be a missing line in libjack-dev.install
