Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: normal

I'm using unstable packages and am not sure the situation with the stable
packages.

The issue is: when input with scim (the Smart Common Input Method) on
konqueror, such as the address edit combo, the caret does not move to the end
of the input phrase, but before it, as if the caret is fixed and the phrase
is inserted after the caret. That is counterintuitive to a Chinese reader, or
most writing systems that writes from left to right.

I confirm that scim works as expected with other KDE applications and
mozilla-firefox. I also admit that Chinput (another Chinese input method
program) works correctly with Konqueror as well.

However, I suspect the bug is on the Konqueror side, assuming Chinput is
designed only for Chinese and simply ignores the writing direction hint while
scim takes the hint seriously, and thus giving rise to the odd behavior.

I also find the sampe problem when I input to subject/cc/ edit lines on kmail
(but not with the text area that one writes the body of a message in). Thus
the bug might be due to the KDE libs that both konqueror and kmail use, or to
konqueror and kamil (which seems to be more likely).

For the time being, I submit the bug to konqueror. If proven otherwise, please
reassign the bug to the appropriate package.

Thanks!

Hi, I have krita 1.4.2-7 installed from testing, and koffice-libs
1.5.0-1 from sid.

krita wont start.

I think it should depend on koffice libs >= 1.4.2 and < 1.5.0 or
something like that.

I'm compiling kmymoney 0.8 with the configure option --enable-charts,
then, during compilation, the following error appears:

I find no KDXMLTools.h on my system.
If I download that file from the kde svn repository, and copy it to
/usr/include/kde, KMyMoney compiles and charts on it works (not heavily
tested).

Bug#368504: kate: kwrite crash and doesn't save modifications on file.

2006-05-23 Thread Raúl Sánchez Siles
Tell me if this backtrace could be more useful. I think is related to same
problem since it is what I got after pressing the save button, althought the
actions from inside kwrite weren't similar but not identical.

2006-05-23 Thread Isaac Clerencia
> When I start kword it crashes with the following message:
Uhm, it's really weird, I have never experienced something similar, can you
test again? if it still happens, can you run it using "strace -f kword" and
send the output? then try to upgrade to 1.5.1 (should be in unstable today)
and check again.

Thank you

Thanks for the additional information. I'm downgrading to important

experience this bug, please report.
Alberto, is unplugging the cable/turning the scanner off before kooka
startup a complete workaround, which lets you use kooka for scanning
even with this user? Until you can identify which configuration is
problematic, please report if you're able to reproduce this issue with a

pam modules that do that exists, from /etc/pam.d/kdm.

read pam documentation.

Hello,

when I start a kde application (I am not using kde globally), I get
plenty of warnings of the form:

kbuildsycoca: WARNING: 'vimpart.desktop' specifies undefined
mimetype/servicetype 'text/x-c'

It is not the first time I see this kind of messages, and I guess the
question about where they come from is a FAQ, but what needs upgrading to
get rid of this? I don't just want to make kde quiet, I want to remove
the cause for the messages.

The exact list of undefined mimetype/servicetype reported is:

While dealing with a message from Ben Burton concerning bug #271495, I
discoverd this very bug. I will cite a part of Ben Burtons message:

> I've had a look at this, and the way it works seems to be:
>
> - The KWord settings only affect new documents, not the current
> document.
> - To change the hyphenation for the current document, you need to edit
> the font properties. See the font dialog, under 'Font Effects'.

Now there is the following problem:

I created a new document from the A4 template. I looked at the Font
effects settings and realized that hyphenation was activated. Then, I
entered the word "Hausverwalter" followed by a space. I marked the
word, copied it to the clipboard and inserted it back into the document
so that the original text was overwritten. I looked at the Font effect
settings again and saw that hyphenation was still activated. Then I
inserted the text a second time and had to realize that in the second
"Hausverwalter " string hyphenation was deactivated. So it was in all
subsequently inserted strings so that hyphenation didn't take place at
the end of the line.

Crash of Konqueror in the Karbon14 eps preview. Steps to reproduce:

1. Right-click on .eps file

The crash seems to be independent of the .eps file.

kword crashes when I try to open the rtf file downloaded from:
http://www.unicaen.fr/unicaen/essai/dossier_inscription_2004-2005.rtf

This is all the more a problem as mozilla showed kword as the default
application to open this type of files, when I also have openoffice
installed which does open the file without any problem.

I noticed the problem with the sarge package, and only upgraded to check
that it was not solved already.

Package: kword
Version: 1:1.3.4-1
Severity: minor

When I run :
kword newfile.doc
where newfile.doc do not exists, kword spends about 10s to launch, then
produce an error ( file newfile.doc do not exists ), and closes.
I would expect it to :
- keep open , because I ran kward to write something ... if it self
closes, I have to run it a second time, and wait again for 10s ...
- create by itself the file newfile, and use the extension to determine
which kind of document I want to create.
