Test build on mipsen needed for kdebindings
Hello, currently kdebindings FTBFS on mipsen machines, due to the well known limitation on the size of the relocation table (or whatever the appropriate name is). The relevant bug is #282134. I've implemented the -Wa,-xgot solution recommended by Thiemo Seufer, and I'd like to test now that it really solves the problem before uploading. Since I'm still in NM, I'd appreciate if someone on the list could do a test build for me on mipsen hardware, or point me to another place to ask. The build fails when compiling libsmokeqt. The package that fixes that is [1]. I _suspect_, though, that one libsmokeqt gets compiled, it may fail in the much bigger (almost 3x) libsmokekde. I've made separate packages [2] for this fix, because Thiemo recommends "Do _not_ add it for other binaries, it may cause silent breakage otherwise". Please compile this second packages if the first fail, and report if they build successfully, or if there is still another lib needing -xgot. Thanks in advance. I think I triggered this bug with alioth packages. > Please, tell me what should I do to report the problem and I won't > disturb you anymore (until next bug). well, I guess we will make a backport of kde 3.4 HEAD soon in kdepim, and since akregator upstream told me the bug was closed in that kde branch, then you should have the fix soon. but for bugs against pre packages, please don't open bugs on the debian BTS since they are preview pacakges, they are not released. I've tried running at higher resolutions, but frankly I value my eyesight, and feel it would suffer if I used such resolutions on 17" screens. My eyesight is basically OK, but my eyes (irises) have a tendency to become inflamed if I incur eye-strain ... So spare a thought for those of us with less-than-electron-microscope vision capability please :-) I realise you're only talking about default-setting here, but I've noticed that KDE already looks a lot better at 1024x768 than at 800x600 ... as if the higher resolutions are being "designed in". Just my 2p. I am not sure of the dot pitch on my old 17"er but I think it is about 0.28mm. I run it at 1152x864 and just tell X the monitor size in XF86Config-4, it works out what DPI it needs from that. I can't find a prog to tell me what it's chosen but it is very clear (and this isn't normally the clearest of monitors). I like to sit between 2' and 3' from my screen (60 to 90 cm) as I am on this machine 14 hours per day work and play, and I find that I can read that perfectly at a font size of arount 8 to 10 points for most fonts. This last upgrade of Sarge font stuff has changed my sans serif font to, apparently, prefer Arial, however my beloved Bitstream Charter is still so readable as the chosen default font :-) If (as often happens) a web page has specified fonts that are just too small, then control-mousewheel over the konqui instance makes them bigger - I don't even have to squint ! KDE 3.4.0 kpilot bug fixes
I have the experimental kde 3.4.0 packages installed. I have recently corrected some bugs in kpilot (two involve data loss). The kpilot maintainer has committed the fixes to KDE HEAD, but KDE_3_4_0_BRANCH is not updated so it will be some time before they get into a release. It would be nice if they could go into the debian 3.4.0 kpilot package. I attach a diff against the KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE cvs sources, hoping that will be useful. Here is a quick description of the bugs, in the order the fixes appear in the diff: 1. memofile conduit fails to create files for some memos sync'd from handheld (illegal characters in filenames) 2. todo conduit sometimes unnecessarily syncs unmodified korganizer todos to the handheld (the search for modified todos is incorrect) 3. calendar conduit fails to transfer some handheld events to korganizer (it incorrectly detects they already exist in the ical/vcal file) 4. calendar and todo conduits incorrectly flag events and todos as modified in the ical/vcal file after having sync'd them to the handheld 5. calendar conduit sometimes unnecessarily syncs unmodified korganizer events to the handheld (the search for modified events is incorrect) Thanks Philip Tuckey diff -ur kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/memofileconduit/memofiles.cc kpilot/conduits/memofileconduit/memofiles.cc --- kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/memofileconduit/memofiles.cc 2005-04-10 21:37:35.0 +0200 +++ kpilot/conduits/memofileconduit/memofiles.cc 2005-04-10 22:20:19.0 +0200 @@ -702,6 +702,8 @@ filename = CSL1("empty"); } } + // Replace illegal characters in filename (this is incomplete) + filename.replace("/",CSL1("-")); QString category = _categories[memo->getCat()]; diff -ur kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/vcalconduit/todo-conduit.cc kpilot/conduits/vcalconduit/todo-conduit.cc --- kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/vcalconduit/todo-conduit.cc 2005-04-10 21:44:51.0 +0200 +++ kpilot/conduits/vcalconduit/todo-conduit.cc 2005-04-10 16:46:21.0 +0200 @@ -142,12 +142,12 @@ { reading=true; fAllTodosIterator = fAllTodos.begin(); - if ( fAllTodosIterator != fAllTodos.end() ) e=*fAllTodosIterator; } else { ++fAllTodosIterator; } + if ( fAllTodosIterator != fAllTodos.end() ) e=*fAllTodosIterator; while (fAllTodosIterator != fAllTodos.end() && e && e->syncStatus()!=KCal::Incidence::SYNCMOD) { diff -ur kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduitbase.cc kpilot/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduitbase.cc --- kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduitbase.cc 2005-04-10 21:47:36.0 +0200 +++ kpilot/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduitbase.cc 2005-04-10 22:34:34.0 +0200 @@ -629,7 +629,7 @@ if (de) { - e=fP->findIncidence(de); + e=fP->findIncidence(r->id()); if (!e) { // no corresponding entry found, so create, copy and insert it. @@ -790,8 +790,8 @@ // r->setAttrib(r->getAttrib() & ~dlpRecAttrDeleted); fLocalDatabase->writeRecord(r); // fDatabase->writeRecord(r); - e->setSyncStatus(KCal::Incidence::SYNCNONE); e->setPilotId(id); + e->setSyncStatus(KCal::Incidence::SYNCNONE); KPILOT_DELETE(r); } } diff -ur kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduit.cc kpilot/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduit.cc --- kpilot-KDE_3_4_0_RELEASE/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduit.cc 2005-04-10 21:49:39.0 +0200 +++ kpilot/conduits/vcalconduit/vcal-conduit.cc 2005-04-07 02:18:50.0 +0200 @@ -133,12 +133,12 @@ { reading=true; fAllEventsIterator = fAllEvents.begin(); - if ( fAllEventsIterator != fAllEvents.end() ) e = *fAllEventsIterator; } else { ++fAllEventsIterator; } + if ( fAllEventsIterator != fAllEvents.end() ) e = *fAllEventsIterator; while ( fAllEventsIterator != fAllEvents.end() && e && e->syncStatus()==KCal::Incidence::SYNCNONE && e->pilotId() > 0) {
