Bug#238280: kpilot: Abbrowser-conduit fails to evaluate $HOME

2004-04-27 Thread Oezguer Kesim
Package: kpilot
Version: 4:3.2.1-1
Severity: normal
Followup-For: Bug #238280

After strace-ing kpilotDaemon I noticed that the Abbrowser-conduit
for kpilot does not evaluate $HOME in the 'FileName'-Option in the
[Abbrowser-conduit]-section in ~/.kde/share/config/kpilotrc.  The other
conduits expand $HOME to the correct path.

Well, perhaps these bugs belong to a severity normal bug by reading
the spec, but I think the consequences are something more than
"annoying". This I found this morning:

The source fail to build on powerpc because it is missing the
TAG_BRIGHTNESS constant. This is the build error:

The problem is in this code:

  Monitor::DisplayType PowerBookMonitor::poll()
  {
Monitor::DisplayType rc = None;
// Drain the queue, send the last message
struct tagitem* tag = readMessage();
m_message = QString::null;
while ( tag && tag->tag != TAG_END ) {
switch ( tag->tag ) {
case TAG_VOLUME:
rc = Monitor::Volume;
m_progress = (int)tag->data;
break;
case TAG_MUTE:
rc = Monitor::Mute;
m_progress = (int)tag->data;
break;
case TAG_BRIGHTNESS:
rc = Monitor::Brightness;
m_progress = ((int)tag->data)*100/15;
break;
  [...]

The TAG_BRIGHTNESS constant is not mentioned anywhere else in the
kdeutils source. I have no idea which header file it belongs to.

Searching on google for TAG_BRIGHTNESS, I come across a document
http://www.cymes.de/members/joker/projects/pbbuttons/clog-gtkpbbuttons.txt>
mentioning that a constant changed name from TAG_BRIGHTNESS to
TAG_LCDBRIGHTNESS. Perhaps the source need to be updated to use the
new name?

I do not have a powerpc machine available to test this.

After my latest upgrade using dselect, the "exit" command freezes Konsole.

I'm using Debian testing.

At the moment Testing has kdelibs 3.2, and kdebase 3.1 (which contains
konsole), so it's not surprising that you're experiencing some odd
glitches. However, in a day or two kdebase 3.2 should migrate to Testing,
which will bring lots of very visible changes. Post a follow-up to your
bug report then, and let us know whether or not the problem with konsole
still exists.

Thanks,
Christopher Martin

Bug#246214: konsole: Konsole in testing fails to close

2004-04-27 Thread Len Sorensen
Package: konsole
Version: 4:3.1.5-2
Severity: normal

Trying to exit a konsole currently causes the konsole to just lock up.

Installing konsole 3.2.2 from unstable to match the other kde packages
currently in testing fixes it. I have no idea why parts of kde in
testing are 3.2.2 and others are 3.1.5, but it sure breaks things.
Maybe a conflicts: would have made sense here if the archive isn't going
to get all of kde at the same time, to avoid any of kde upgrading
without other parts being ready.

Bug#245833: KDE Ark bug

2004-04-27 Thread Christopher Martin
Hello,

I can't replicate this problem with the latest ark now available in Sid
(3.2.2-2, as of today - it may not have reached your mirror yet).

Once it's available for you, could you let us know if the problem is
fixed? Though the changelog for kdeutils says nothing specifically
relevant to this problem, the pull from the KDE 3.2 branch might have
incorporating the necessary patch.

Thanks,
Christopher Martin

Bug#244921: kaddressbook: still losing all entries but the one being changed

2004-04-27 Thread Andreas von Heydwolff
Package: kaddressbook

Severity: normal
Followup-For: Bug #244921

Thanks for the 3.2.2.-2 package. Something has been improved but this time
after changing 10 or 12 telephone number entries the dreaded data loss still
occurred albeit not already after 3 or 4 changes. I always make an extra
backup before changing anything, and yesterday I saw it like in slow motion,
entering a single new digit in a pre-existing mobile phone entry made
all other entries get deleted.

remove it. It's a broken package from knoppix.

Use the official OOo packages in Debian which are supported.
(openoffice.org + appropriate langpacks etc.)

KDE and OOo could not support any hacked OOo packages around...

OOo btw. Conflicts:/Replaces:/Provides: openoffice-de-en

There is already a replaces. kdelibs-bin already replaces konqueror
(<< 4:3.2.0) but when you install konqueror 4:3.1.5 after kdelibs-bin
it doesn't take into account the replaces... This is a known
shortcoming of Replaces. The fix is to wait until kdebase migrates to
sarge, which should be tomorrow I think.

Bug#246247: konsole 3.1.5-2 bug?

2004-04-27 Thread Peter Yellman

Package: konsole

Version: 3.1.5-2

Problem report:
Yesterday I ran apt-get upgrade after about a 1 week hiatus. I noticed
during the upgrade run that various KDE components were upgraded. Among
other things, KDE was upgraded to 3.2.2, and icons were also updated,
including a new "hicolor" icon set, etc. I'm not sure if konsole itself
was updated, however, the version is now 3.1.5-2

The problem is that konsole "exit" now fails (whether by typing "exit",
closing the program window using "quit", or closing the window with the
"Close" x). The bash session is killed, but the konsole window remains.
 The mouse/pointer is not active in the dead window. There are no
error messages that I can see, and I have to kill the process manually.

Note that I do get the following error message when starting konsole,
konqueror, and other KDE applications (from a console session):

Its probably not a good idea to file a RC bug that only affects sarge
without tagging it sarge, unless you don't want it fixed. That is one of
the reasons that reportbug doesn't let regular users file RC bugs... ;)
BTW This bug should be fixed in about 3 days once kdepim migrates to
sarge.

Thanks,
Chris

Bug#126406: kppp: Alternative for using noauth as suggested by README

This is true, as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately, this still doesn't work. Even when kppp is 4754 root.dip,
the pppd doesn't consider kppp's custom "noauth" argument privileged - I
don't get a connection unless I manually change auth --> noauth
in /etc/ppp/options.

The solution that works for me is to combine your two ideas:

1) make /usr/bin/kppp 4754 root.dip (so {chap,pap}-secrets can be changed)
2) add /etc/ppp/peers/kppp-options (640 root.dip), containing "noauth"
3) change kppp's default custom pppd argument from "noauth" to "call
kppp-options"

This works for my PAP/CHAP connection. Unless I've missed something, if we
implement these three changes, then all that end users need to do to get
kppp working is add themselves to the dip group, and maybe set
up /dev/modem. The dialout group is not needed, and /etc/ppp/options is
not altered.

Let me know too... I don't like the idea of making kppp SUID root, but it
seems necessary. Comments?

BTW, why is ppp only a Recommends? Surely it should be a Depends?

Cheers,
Christopher Martin

Subject: kopete: irc server pass (bouncer) isnt sent

*** Please type your report below this line ***

when i add a new irc-server connection to my bouncer
i cant login to it. neither giving the password in the server-dialog nor
the "/quote pass " - method work.
With xchat/xirssi/... it works so i think this is a bug in the
