Bug#1042865: planner: Help user guide is missing from Debian package
Package: planner Version: 0.14.91-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, After installing planner and planner-doc I expect that the 'Help' menu item 'User Guide' will pop up the user guide. Bug#1042866: planner: Frequent segmentation faults
Package: planner Version: 0.14.91-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, (This seems to be a different segfault from #928029) planner seems to segfault randomly at different times after being used for a few seconds to a few minutes. This is one I managed to reproduce when trying to remove a resource I'd just added (it was an accident, I didn't mean to hit the delete icon but the one next to it to add another resource). However, I've seen others I haven't been able to reproduce reliably. To reproduce: -- start planner -- Select 'Resources' -- Add a resource, and insert its name -- hit the 'delete resource' icon Thread 1 "planner" received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. Bug#725423: haxe: Closures cause VerifyError when building swf
Package: haxe Version: 1:3.0.0~svn6707-4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, Using closures of any sort with the flash target (-swf) causes the resulting file to give an error of the sort: > Warning: Failed to parse corrupt data. > VerifyError: Error #1001: The method MethodInfo-1327() is not implemented. I just tried to apt-move my amd64 and i386 packages, and lo and behold, it only moves amd64 ones. Actually, the code looks as if it only expects one architecture at most. Bug#638614: FTBFS on ia64 (internal compiler error)
So, um, just asking here: if a package fails to build on one particular architecture due to a bug in gcc, is that a reason to remove it from testing If a few minor packages are blocking a transition for any reason then it is very likely they will be removed from testing. This isn't exactly ideal but running testing is a game of compromises. If you want to see openmsx back in testing the out of date package on ia64 needs to be dealt with somehow. There are basically four ways of doing this in descending order of preference. 1: get gcc fixed. 2: if the ICE is optimisation related reduce the optimisation level until it goes away. 3: use an older gcc version. Debian currently offers 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6 4: request removal of the out of date packages on ia64 and downgrade this bug to "important". 1 is the best long term soloution and a gcc bug report should be prepared and filed as a first step but based on past experiance I would not expect a rapid response from the gcc guys. 2 is an acceptable soloution but obviously isn't ideal. 3 is acceptable as an interim soloution but is not a long term answer because older gcc versions are eventually removed from debian. 4 is a last resort option and should only be used after reasonable attempts at 1-3 have failed (per the rc policy "Packages must be supported on as many architectures as is reasonably possible.") If you need access to an ia64 box for testing I would suggest asking on debian-i...@lists.debian.org P.S. Note: i'm just doing flyby investigation of rc bugs. I have no relationship to either doko or this package. This package is building ok for me. Same here Having looked through a number of these bugs I get the impression that doko was a bit careless when doing his mass bug filing. Most are real issues but this is not the first false positive i've come across and he didn't even seem to proofread the messages (they end with "The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report." but no such lines are present in this report and several others. Bug#647231: libvisual-plugins: FTBFS(!linux): error: possibly undefined macro: AM_PATH_ALSA

Having throught about this I see several possible soloutions 1: go back to including configure in the packaging rather than building it at package build time. 2: move alsa.m4 to a package that exists on all architectures 3: include a copy of alsa.m4 in the libvisual-plugins source 4: include a dummy definition of AM_PATH_ALSA that does nothing in the libvisual-plugins source and only use it on architectures other than linux. Option 1 is probablly the simplest fix but shipping generated code rather than doing the generation at build time seems like a step backwards to me. Option 2 seems good in theory (after all autoconf is mean to generate configure scripts that run on platforms other than the ones they were generated on so having AM_PATH_ALSA available on architecture without alsa isn't too unreasonable IMO) but the question would be where to move it to and how much disruption would said move cause... Option 3 is code duplication that is generally frowned upon Option 4 seems like the best option if the asla guys don't want to provide alsa.m4 on non-linux architectures. I am CCing Steve (as the last person to touch the package and the one who introduced the FTBFS) and the ALSA maintainers list to get their opinions on this. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qa-packages-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#674006: libwvstreams4.6-base 4.6.1-4 ----- wvdial stopped working
Dear Gregor Herrmann, As you were the kind DD who fixed the gcc 4.7 failure to build for libwvstreaams4.6-base, I am emailing you regarding this bug since you might be able to do a QA upload. This bug relates to further problems with libwvstreams4.6-base when building with gcc 4.7 rather than gcc 4.6. The compiler aggressively optimizes causing a failure when trying to use the wvdial package. The fedora project has also found a problem with gcc 4.7 and wvstreams package. The assert error wvdial: utils/wvtask.cc:409: static void WvTaskMan::_stackmaster(): Assertion `magic_number == -0x123678' failed. thrown by wvdial is caused by a failure in libwvstreams4.6-base. In particular the variable magicnumber should be marked volatile to prevent compiler optimizations. I attach the Fedora version of the patch. It may need to be refreshed for use in Debian. The original discussion at Fedora for this bug is found at: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.extras.cvs/779635 Please note wvdial is a way of dialing a 3G cell phone modem for internet connection. It is thus important for accessing the internet for some users. Would you be able to refresh this patch and upload to Debian? I am unable to do this since I am a lowly uploader for an unrelated packages festival and speech-tools. I have no archive upload privileges to Debian. If you are unable to address this, do you know the correct DD to assist since it appears to me the package is an orphan? with the very best regards, Peter Peter Drysdale (Uploader for festival and speech-tools) magic.patch Description: Binary data
Bug#674006: libwvstreams4.6-base 4.6.1-4 ----- wvdial stopped working
Dear Gregor, Thank you for your email. It forced me to look further into Debian procedures and policy. Between your email and details of Debian policy I think I have found a way forward. To avoid noise to your account I will not copy you to subsequent emails regarding this bug where I can avoid it. I, of course, welcome any feedback if you choose to give it. With the very kindest regards, Peter
Bug#674006: libwvstreams4.6-base 4.6.1-4 ----- wvdial stopped working
The purpose of this email is to set forth the reasons for raising the severity of this bug and describe my intentions. 1) I intend to increase the severity to release critical. The Debian document regarding severity states: critical makes unrelated software on the system (or the whole system) break, or causes serious data loss, or introduces a security hole on systems where you install the package. I encountered this bug when a fellow Debian user did a "apt-get dist-upgrade" from squeeze to wheezy. (The machine has had dist-upgrades going back as far as etch) That machine has internet access only through a 3G modem at the site it is located. After the apt-get dist-upgade the machine was restarted and failed to connect to the internet. This made the machine completely unusable for the purposes of network access. Since no other forms of network access are available at that site the machine would not have been able to receive security updates either. The machine was transported to a wired network site [my place :-) ] to allow downgrading of this package from snapshots since this bug completely prevents network access if wvdial is used as the only 3G dialer. Subsequently network-manager has been installed on this machine to provide additional 3G modem dialer support. (Network-manager did not provide a dialer when 3G access was originally installed on this machine). I believe these facts constitute that this bug made unrelated software (browser, ssh , mail etc.) broken. Since the only network access was via this package - the completely unavailable network seriously compromised this machine. If left it in this state it would also have led to security holes accumulating. On reading of Debian guidelines I conclude this constituted a release critical bug for this machine. 2) Subject to my ability to gain access to hardware which I do not own, I intend to test the fedora patch and make it available on BTS followed by preparing for a NMU to be made available on Debian QA mailing list. The package has been abandoned upstream (homepage links are now non-existent). It is also orphaned in Debian. My intention is only to prevent users upgrading to wheezy getting a "surprise". I urge other users reading this to move to network-manager if possible before a dist-upgrade since network-manager appears better supported. I apologize for my intention not to assist in subsequent maintaining of this package after working on this bug. My decision is significantly influenced by the pejorative comments made about this software by one of the original authors at the following URL:- http://apenwarr.ca/log/?m=200912 with best regards, Peter
Bug#674006:
Please find attached a draft patch refreshed in the Debian style. This patch has passed build testing only on a Debian system. It has passed testing on Fedora. Run-time testing this patch on Debian will have to await either till I get access to the hardware effected or another person affected by this bug test compiles on their hardware, it works and they notify me so I can hustle for a NMU. best regards, Peter 07_magic_number.diff Description: Binary data
Bug#674006: wvdial further discussion
Dear Chris, Thanks for your testing and feedback. Apologies about the patch being insufficient. I have not had access to the affected hardware since my previous post. I note work continues at Fedora on this bug which can be found at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812651 Instead of the insufficient patch a possible test which could be tried is altering line 37 of the debian/rules file to include CFLAGS += -O2 -fno-tree-dce -fno-optimize-sibling-calls This would follow from the information suggested by Fabrice Bellet on the Fedora bug list. This is both a bit of a hack and shot in the dark since I don't own the hardware to test. I might get access to the hardware this weekend though. best regards, Peter
Bug#674006: runtime tested solution found
Please find attached a new debian/rules file for wvstreams which appears to fix this bug. It is altered in two places to switch off some compiler optimizations. It is obviously a hack. This has been runtime tested on borrowed hardware. This follows Fabrice's suggestions. Proper diff and packaging will follow. It would be great if someone else also tests this in runtime context. very best regards, Peter rules Description: Binary data
Bug#674006: bug #674006 wvstreams diff
Attached is diff for debian/rules for wvstreams to fix this bug. It has been runtime tested on two different machines. Wvstreams has received an ITA (intent to adopt) since I first started looking into this bug. I presume the new maintainer (Bart Martens) will upload for this bug in combination with his adoption upload so I leave this bug in patch available state. best regards, Peter rules.diff Description: Binary data

tags 518858 +patch thanks A bit of grepping determined the following linux/limits.h defines an ARG_MAX however the various headers that include linux/limits.h explicitly state that the version from the linux kernel headers is wrong and explicitly undefine it. /usr/include/bits/xopen_lim.h states "Please note only the values which are not greater than the minimum stated in the standard document are listed. The important difference is that --no-add-needed is the default behavior of of GNU binutils-gold. Please provide all needed libraries to the linker when building your executables. Bug#558539: Missing autoreconf to fix 554821 or similar bugs in the future
Source: zbar Version: 0.8+dfsg-3 Severity: minor User: peter.fritzs...@gmx.de Usertags: missing-libtool-update I did a rebuild of all packages which are affected by bug #554821. As it seems your package doesnt do the needed autoreconf needed for libtool. When doing autoreconf or the needed sequence of different autotools/libtool utilities the package should be able to fix the problem automatically. /usr/share/doc/autotools-dev/README.Debian.gz explains it in section "Basic summary of packaging source that uses autotools". The build was done in a cowbuild chroot with the patch from #554821 included in /usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4 and binutils-gold installed. All logs were then greped for -export-symbols-regex and not including -version-script. This should indicate that your package doesnt do the required autoreconf with updating the libtools stuff. A small extra test output "test-version-script" was added to libtool.m4 and silent mode was disabled in global ltmain.sh so it is easier for me to decide if it was really updated in case libtool doesnt output the ld command to stdout. So if the output and "test-version-script" is missing then your program doesnt update the files. I am sorry if this is still a false positive. udev 147-5 for example fails completely due to new (unknown) symbols appearing inside the .so, but `autoreconf -fi -I m4` (with libtool.m4 installed on my system with the mentioned patch) fixes the problem. I had to remove a patch with touches Makefile.in, but the rest worked out of the box. Maybe it is better to copy all clean files into a extra directory, run autoreconf inside the directory, build and install everything from that directory and in clean remove that directory. This way the diff.gz should be clean and you still do the necessary autoreconf. A package which does that is g3dviewer. Many other packages like libupnp4 and compizconfig-python just ignore the fact that these changes are included in debian.tar.gz/diff.gz The interesting output inside the log of your program is: /bin/bash ./libtool --tag=CC --mode=link gcc -Wall -g -O2 -no-undefined -version-info 0:1:0 -export-symbols-regex "^(zbar|_zbar.*_error)_.*" -o zbar/libzbar.la -rpath /usr/lib zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-config.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-error.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-symbol.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-image.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-convert.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-logo.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-window.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-video.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-img_scanner.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-scanner.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-decoder.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-processor.lo zbar/decoder/zbar_libzbar_la-ean.lo zbar/decoder/zbar_libzbar_la-code128.lo zbar/decoder/zbar_libzbar_la-code39.lo zbar/decoder/zbar_libzbar_la-i25.lo zbar/video/zbar_libzbar_la-v4l1.lo zbar/video/zbar_libzbar_la-v4l2.lo zbar/zbar_libzbar_la-jpeg.lo zbar/window/zbar_libzbar_la-x.lo zbar/window/zbar_libzbar_la-ximage.lo -lSM -lICE -lX11-ljpeg -lpthread -lrt libtool: link: /usr/bin/nm -B zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-config.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-error.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-symbol.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-image.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-convert.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-logo.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-window.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-video.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-img_scanner.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-scanner.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-decoder.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-processor.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-ean.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-code128.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-code39.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-i25.o zbar/video/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-v4l1.o zbar/video/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-v4l2.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-jpeg.o zbar/window/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-x.o zbar/window/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-ximage.o | sed -n -e 's/^.*[ ]\([ABCDGIRSTW][ABCDGIRSTW]*\)[ ][ ]*\([_A-Za-z][_A-Za-z0-9]*\)$/\1 \2 \2/p' | /bin/sed 's/.* //' | sort | uniq > zbar/.libs/libzb ar.exp libtool: link: /bin/grep -E -e "^(zbar|_zbar.*_error)_.*" "zbar/.libs/libzbar.exp" > "zbar/.libs/libzbar.expT" libtool: link: mv -f "zbar/.libs/libzbar.expT" "zbar/.libs/libzbar.exp" libtool: link: gcc -shared zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-config.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-error.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-symbol.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-image.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-convert.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-logo.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-window.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-video.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-img_scanner.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-scanner.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-decoder.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-processor.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-ean.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-code128.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-code39.o zbar/decoder/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-i25.o zbar/video/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-v4l1.o zbar/video/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-v4l2.o zbar/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-jpeg.o zbar/window/.libs/zbar_libzbar_la-x.o

Bug#141613: freedce: idl compiler needs devel environment
Package: freedce-dceidl Version: 1.1.0-4 The DCE IDL compiler won't do much without its include files. Thus I would recommend combining freedce-dceidl and libfreedce-dev into one package, or at least making the former depend on the latter. (Come to think of it, I fail to see why freedce-uuid should be a separate package. It is only a single 10k binary, and is usually used in conjunction with the two above-mentioned packages. So really, those three packages could *all* be combined. I would call the result 'freedce-dev' or 'libfreedce-dev'.) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#285762: tempname() in web-lib.pl does not create a temp file
Package: webmin Version: 0.94-7woody3 Severity: important Hello, The function tempname() in web-lib.pl introduced the following statement in the latest security update: local @st = lstat($tmp_dir); exit(0) if ($st[4] == $< && (-d _) && ($st[2] & 0777) == 0755); I read it as "exit if the directory exists, belongs to me and has permissions 0755" later it creates a directory with these exact properties: mkdir($tmp_dir, 0755) || next; chown($<, $(, $tmp_dir); chmod(0755, $tmp_dir); So when I do in my script: $need_unlink=1; $tempfile=&tempname(); It will only succeed once because the temporary directory ("/tmp/.webmin") is never deleted and thus tempname() does exit(0). I suggest to replace the "chmod(0755, $tmp_dir);" statement with "chmod(0700, $tmp_dir);" best regards, Peter

Bug#429025: libgnome-dev +libsvn-dev = problems
severity 429025 normal tags 429025 wontfix thanks [Eddy Petrisor] > It is impossible to install libsvn-dev and libgnome-dev at the same > time on the same system due to the fact that they depend on diffrent > versions of libdb-dev. Actually libsvn-dev doesn't depend on libdb*-dev anyway, only indirectly, thanks to apr-util. (This possibly should be a direct dependency - but since svn upstream detects libdb via apr-util, rather than directly, the current indirect dependency expresses things pretty well.) So, what are we supposed to do about it? I'm calling it "wontfix" - I can't speak for the libgnome-dev maintainers, but I believe they'll agree. We (in svn) surely have a reason to use libdb4.4, I assume they have a reason to use libdb3. This could be "fixed" in the libdb*-dev packages, letting them be installed side-by-side by moving /usr/include/db.h into a versioned subdirectory or something, but that would have interesting (and hard-to-predict) effects on everyone's build who uses libdb*-dev. Many packages would probably end up building with the wrong libdb, if more than one is installed. > Not sure if this applies to sid/lenny, I haven't tried. Yes, it does. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#441082: linux-igd does not restrict itself to the internal interface
Package: linux-igd Version: 0.cvs20060201-2 Severity: important Tags: security, patch linux-igd listens for UDP mutlicast packets but does not restrict itself to just the internal interface (which has to be specified in any case), thereby opening itself to possible external requests for port forwarding. In many cases this would be blocked by firewalling rules on the same machine as the daemon, so would not be any issue there. This can be fixed with a simple bind() or SO_BINDTODEVICE as in the attached patch. Note that this patch is against the latest CVS, but should be correct for the Debian versions. Bug#372780: OpenBSD can't boot via yaboot on powerpc (no dualboot possible)
Package: yaboot Version: 1.3.13-5 Severity: normal OpenBSD can't boot via yaboot on powerpc. Dualboot doesn't work. This bug is common to all versions of debian (stable, testing, unstable). boot-procedure in general - After poweron the bios of a new world powerpc looks for a nvram-variable, in order to examine, which programm is to boot at first place. The powerpc-bios is called "open firmware". "New world" is called the architecture of the newer powerpc's. If debian is installed, the open firmware finds the complete path to the debian-bootlooder and boots. The debian-bootloader is called "ofboot.b". Notice the last two chars ".b". This programm is written in forth, because open firmware is able to interpret it. The debian-bootloader ofboot.b has to be found in a special partition, which is called "new world boot partition". ofboot.b displays a small menu. The user has to strike a single key, in order to boot an os. The key "b" forces ofboot to load & start the openbsd bootloader, which is called "ofwboot". Notice the char "w". ofwboot is the original openbsd-bootloader. the bug --- ofboot.b tranfers to ofwboot the complete path to the openbsd-kernel. The user configured this path in /etc/yaboot.conf, something like bsd=/dev/... yaboot.conf is the "alias" of lilo.conf on powerpc. For example: If your openbsd-installation resides on partition 7, ofboot.b transfers "hd0:7,/bsd" or something more cryptical to ofwboot. (ofboot.b uses a notation, which open firmware understands. Sometimes this notation looks very cryptical.) Transferring this parameter to ofwboot is a bug, because ofwboot doesn't want to know a complete path. ofwboot has a built-in automatic, to look for the openbsd-partition. ofwboot searches for the last openbsd-partition on the disk and tries to boot it. It does not matter, how much openbsd-installations exist. It does not matter, on which partition openbsd was installed. ofwboot allways looks for the openbsd-partition, which is the last on the disk. ofwboot searches only in that partition. ofwboot needs only a path relativ to that partition. In the example, ofwboot finds the openbsd-partition 7 and tries to boot the kernel with the name "hd0:7,/bsd", which is not used, because the kernel is named "bsd" on "/". In this example the correct path has to be "/bsd". That path will be useable by ofwboot. But you can't specify that path. You got an error, when you run ybin. ybin is the 'alias' of lilo for powerpc. workaround for the non-root-user -- While poweron hold the four keys "win/apple", "alt", "o" and "f" at the same time. Release the keys after the appearing of the open firmware message. On the open firmware prompt type in "boot hd0:5,/ofwboot /bsd", if your partition "5" on disk 0 is your new world boot partition and the openbsd-partition has a kernel named "bsd" under "/". You don't need to specify the path to the openbsd partition (in my example 7), because ofwboot finds it without further help. (And ofwboot finds only one, if there are more of them. ofwboot finds the last one). quick & dirty fix - ofboot.b is not visible as part of the debian-package yaboot. ofboot.b is generated on the fly by running ybin. ybin calls "/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot" as subprogramm. Notice the missing ".b" at the end. ofboot generates the file ofboot.b and stores it in the new world boot partition. In order to change ofboot.b you have to change ofboot. Fixing the bug is easy. Cut the complete-path-specification in line 114 of "/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot". old & buggy line 114: # [ "$1" = "ybsd" ] && BOOT="load-base release-load-area \" ${4}${5%/*}/${5##*/},/bsd\" \$boot" new & working line 114: [ "$1" = "ybsd" ] && BOOT="load-base release-load-area \" ${4},ofwboot /bsd\" \$boot" Ofcourse you have to run ybin another time after changing /usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot. a better solution - Change the use of the path-parameter "bsd=" in yaboot.conf. Let this parameter point to the openbsd-kernel relativ to the openbsd-partition. In my example let the user use "bsd-kernel=/bsd" and not "bsd=/dev/hda..." And please change the hardcoded name of the openbsd-kernel. ofboot allways set the name to "bsd". But that is not good. If you compile a new openbsd-kernel, you usually rename the old working kernel to "bsd.generic" or "bsd.old". If the new kernel doesn't work, you need a fallback, but cannot use yaboot. Yaboot is only able to boot "bsd" and not any otherwise named openbsd-kernel. further information --- Testet on Mac mini with debian-testing (01.Jun-2006). Bug#850511: cpu: 10_support-inetOrgPerson-Schema.patch broken if -C is used for external config file
Package: cpu Version: 1.4.3-12 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=397882 introduced a new configuration option "cn_value" for useradd / usermod / userdel. This enhancement is provided in the 10_support-inetOrgPerson-Schema.patch in Debian. Unfortunately, the short option name used for this option is "C" which is already used to specify a non-default configuration file. As a result, if using a non-default configuration file specified on command line, the CN will be erroneously set to the name of the configuration file. This of course leads to bogus entries being created in LDAP and the inability to create, modify, or delete proper users. As an example, the following command: cpu -C /etc/cpu/cpu-computers.conf useradd -o -d /nonexistent -g computers -s /bin/false pc1$ will result in adding a new user in LDAP whose CN is "/etc/cpu/cpu-computers.conf" instead of "pc1$". The same would be true for usermod and userdel operations. The fix is in fact trivial - a different short option name must be used in the source code. These are the letters that are still available: i, I, j, J, K, O, q, Q, T, W, Y (case sensitive) The change would involve src/plugins/ldap/commandline.c. Many thanks! Bug#880579: github-backup unsatisfiable build-depends.
Package: github-backup Version: 1.20170301-1 Severity: serious x-debbugs-cc: barak+...@pearlmutter.net github-backup build-depends on haskell-github << 0.16.0 but sid has 0.16.0-1 and buster doesn't have the package at all. So github-backup's build-depends are not satisfiable in either unstable or testing. I notice that there are some changes in collab-maint git since the most recent upload ( https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/github-backup.git/commit/?id=633c84cb0da1a0c60154d10f95b8ac89d40b3a62 ) but they do not seem to address this issue.
