Bug#833057: does downgrading e2fsprogs to the jessie version help?
Does the e2fsprogs in jessie produce an image that works with syslinux and vmdebootstrap?
Bug#930869: Asked to try and mediate this bug.
Michael, I've been asked to try and mediate this bug. Unfortunately, to do that, I'm going to need to ask at least one question that Adam is already asked. I can assure you that I'm not as smart as you believe he is, so I really am going to need some help to understand the situation:-) What are the replacements? Are the replacements init system agnostic? I mean I can think of various systemd specific replacements and various desktop replacements, but pm-utils is at a lower level than a desktop and is init system agnostic. Am I missing something or are those the sort of replacements you are thinking of? I'm also having a bit of trouble trying to understand how the various hook directories work (power.d, sleep.d, etc). If I install pm-utils and use another mechanism like say systemctl suspend to suspend my system, do the pm-utils hooks get called or not? --Sam
Bug#930869: Don't release with buster
control: severity -1 serious Adam, playing severity pingpong games is *not* helping me work with Michael to try and mediate and get you answers to your questions here. I'm raising the severity back to RC. I've also told Michael that I think it is important for a non-maintainer submitter of a bug to be fairly engaged in discussing why a bug is RC. And that eventually, if we don't get to a sufficient understanding I'll be trying to drop the severity and suggesting that we find a different submitter who would like to see pm-utils go away (or not be released) but who is more able to be engaged. I think former maintainer has a lot (but not all) of the power of maintainer in this situation. --Sam
