Bug#715612: Abcmidi bugs in Debian

2014-10-11 Thread Ross Gammon
Dear Seymour,

I am trying to get Debian updated with the latest version of abcmidi.

At some point there was a mass bug filing from the Mayhem Team that had
found thousands of vulnerabilities with an automated tool in many Debian
packages. These are the ones related to abcmidi:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=715612
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=715613
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=715614
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=716174

I have confirmed these bugs by running the crash script the Mayhem team
have linked/attached to the bug reports. You may need to alter the
script depending on where your executable/binary is installed.

I would be very grateful if you take a look at them.

Please keep the debian bug system recipients copied into your reply so
that the bugs are updated.

Many thanks for taking care of abcmidi.

Regards,

Ross Gammon

Bug#764998: abcmidi: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/abcmatch

2014-10-12 Thread Ross Gammon
Package: abcmidi
Version: 20070318-3

Hi,

When packaging the new version of abcmidi (20140924), a lintian warning
is emitted because the abcmatch binary does not have a matching manpage.

There was manpage in the previous Debian version of abcmidi, but
according to CHANGES, there have been new parameters added since then.

It should be possible to take the old one, and update it according to
the latest information in abcmatch.txt. But the Release Freeze for
Debian Jessie is approaching!

Regards,

Ross
