My plan to stop using upstream release tarballs and just build
everything from source for fontconfig is clearly not going to work with
the current docbook-utils package. I'll upload a version that includes
the built documentation in the .orig.tar.gz file -- that's what upstream
provides for releases.

Here's a patch which I've used to build new fontconfig packages which
should survive the absence of defoma.

Subject: [PATCH] Fix debhelper files to work when defoma is not installed

test -x `which defoma-app` returns 0 when defoma is not installed,
which breaks several of the debhelper scripts.

Check out the 'bash' manual -- set -e explicitly excludes precisely this
case from causing early termination of the script:

The shell does not exit if the command that fails is part of the command
list immedi‐
ately following a while or until keyword, part of the test following
the if or elif
reserved words, part of any command executed in a && or ⎪⎪ list except
the command fol‐
lowing the final && or ⎪⎪, any command in a pipeline but the last, or if
the command's
return value is being inverted with !.

That also seems fine, if a bit longer.

cool! I'd prefer to build fontconfig with your desired change; the set
+e change will hold until then. I'll change the one other case to match
whatever you choose to use.

Ok, I've adopted the same syntax in fontconfig 2.8.0-2 and uploaded that
(after testing in a chroot). Please let me know asap if anything breaks
with this version.

You're right, as21/cpp.c was comparing a plain char to EOF. I've
uploaded the attached patch, let's see if it works.

Given the list of failing architectures, I think the most likely cause
is some code relying on char being signed by default. And indeed,
building the as21 directory with -fsigned-char makes it build for me.

Bug#376159: Open21xx Bug Report

2007-08-14 Thread Keith Clifford
Hi all,

I've made the necessary corrections to open21xx. I've built it with char
signed and unsigned and that was the only instance of that particular
problem. The new release, open21xx-0.7.6, is available on
http://www3.telus.net/sharpshin/downloads/open21xx.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks for your help and regards,

Looks like it never built/worked on those platforms:

http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?arch=&pkg=open21xx

Hopefully someone on the porter lists will be able to help (CCed).

If no-one replies, I'm willing to use the Debian development machines to
help you fix this issue. I'm not familiar with the open21xx source or
package, and I have little time for Debian stuff, so I'll need some
direction and hints about this.

I explored this a bit today -- there's something quite amiss with the
docbook toolchain. I'm seeing a lot of this error:

! Undefined control sequence.
\close@pdflink ->\Hy@endcolorlink
  \Hy@VerboseLinkStop \pdfendlink
l.585 ...-mode}}History\endNode{}\endSeq{}\endLink
  {}\Seq%

The result is that pdfjadetex exits with status 1 and the resulting PDF
has a lot of artifacts in the TOC. Each TOC label and page number are
prefixed with 'black'.

I'd be happy to help fix things, but I'm afraid I'm way out of my
docbook depth here.

Bug#809480: Typo in CVS document for "suck" command.

2015-12-30 Thread Keith Thompson
Package: cvs
Version: 1.12.13+real-12

The "info" documentation for the "cvs suck" command contains the following:

Locates the file module/path,v or module/pa/Attic/th,v and
downloads it raw as RCS comma-v file.

The string "/Attic/" appears to have been inserted in the wrong place.

The correct text is:

Locates the file module/path,v or module/Attic/path,v and downloads
it raw as RCS comma-v file.

The "suck" command is apparently a Debian-specific addition to CVS; it
does not appear in CVS 1.12.13.

sorry, no. I am sure you can understand why I believe it's more
important to forbid use of my software for spamming, than to conform to
some set of guidelines. Even though I accept that the guidelines are
well-intentioned, I think they are overbroad.

If there is another way of accomplishing the same thing within Debian's
guidelines, I'd be willing to consider granting an alternate license to
Debian.
