Bug#124358: mpg321: noises in mp3 files

If it happens in both mpg321 and mpg123 I suspect there is something else fishy going on. What kernel are you using when you're running stable? What sound card do you have? What drivers are you using? -- Joe Drew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Please encrypt email sent to me.

Yay, it's fixed already! :-) :) If you had mpg321 installed, mpg123 and mpg321 were the same binary, and the only way to run mpg123 was to run mpg123-oss. If you modified the alternatives, then it's possible to have mpg123 be invoked with the mpg123 symlink. But, by default, mpg123 == mpg321. > The audio defect is quite distinct--it sounds like mp3 files that have > been corrupted by single-bit errors (e.g. after being stored on a Windoze > box), as opposed to overlapping DMA buffers, bad sound driver timing, or > the like (all of which I've heard very often with various sound drivers > on the dozens of machines I've used over the years). I've very recently (as in: in the last couple of hours) fixed a problem which would cause these type of seams. It was significantly more than a single-bit error, though, but it would happen every 4096 bytes (since that's the size of the buffer I was using). -- Joe Drew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Please encrypt email sent to me.

I imagine it was the bug I had fixed, then. I am not sure when these fixes will get rolled into a new version, but I'm going to check them into CVS very soon. -- Joe Drew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Please encrypt email sent to me.
Bug#221567: x-ttcidfont-conf should not use debconf warnings
Package: x-ttcidfont-conf Version: 14 Severity: important x-ttcidconf-font uses a debconf warning (note) regarding a configuration file change. This is even more ridiculous given that I received this warning on a new install. This debconf warning should be removed as soon as possible. Warnings are only to be used when something which cannot be automatically fixed is going to break on the user's system (eg a database's format has been changed, and it's impossible to know where those databases are or how to automatically update them). In all other cases, either use README.Debian or NEWS.Debian, and/or fix the problem without prompting. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux pisces 2.4.22 #4 Fri Sep 5 21:44:11 EDT 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US Versions of packages x-ttcidfont-conf depends on: ii debconf 1.3.20 Debian configuration management sy ii defoma0.11.5 Debian Font Manager -- automatic f ii xutils4.2.1-14 X Window System utility programs -- debconf information: * x-ttcidfont-conf/xtt_vl: true * x-ttcidfont-conf/tt_backend: xtt * x-ttcidfont-conf/font_path_change2:
