Bug#257686: bibview: Major loss of data -- no save on exit
Package: bibview Version: 2.2-8 Severity: important If you enter data into bibview, and then click the [x] box of the window manager, you will lose all unsaved data. Perversely, you need to click two save buttons: one for the individual record (to save it into the database) and one for the database (to write it to a file). Bibview should either pop up a "Unsaved data. Exit Y/N." box when exiting with unsaved data. Failing that, it should have a large and clear indicator on the main window that there is unsaved data. Failing that, it should write out a copy of the database. I've lost minor amounts of work several times, because the behaviour of bibview is so unexpected. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.26 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages bibview depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libxaw7 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Athena widget set library ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System client libraries m -- no debconf information
Bug#261103: bibview: Closing a leaf window shuts down the whole application
Package: bibview Version: 2.2-8 Severity: normal If you start bibview, then open a window for a specific .bib file, then open a window to add a specific record to that bib file, you will find that by telling the window manager to shut down that third window, the entire application terminates. This can be annoying. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.26 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages bibview depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libxaw7 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Athena widget set library ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System client libraries m -- no debconf information
Bug#246343: bibview: Confusing informational message
Package: bibview Version: 2.2-8 Severity: minor When you open the same file for the second time, bibview asks you "? File is loaded. Take saved version?" This didn't enlighten me in the least. First, it should say "...already loaded..." or "...already open..." and second, it's not obvious which version is the saved version. It's also not obvious what would happen to the window that's already open. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.25 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages bibview depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libxaw7 4.3.0-7 X Athena widget set library ii xlibs 4.3.0-7 X Window System client libraries m -- no debconf information
