Bug#568176: memtest86+: multiboot image is broken
Hi, I'm working on a new build for debian experimental with version 5.31b work done for now about memtest86+ package is here: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus/-/commits/debian/experimental for now multiboot patch is disabled, I don't have knowledge about assembly and the boot part except a little something done years ago that I hardly remember anything about, I don't have enough time recently to read up and study the parts. For some tests I can try to adapt the patch from coreboot that is the most recent I found: https://review.coreboot.org/plugins/gitiles/memtest86plus/+/8cc1aeb540a02d9600491ca5fa799b7c8f25c363 but I don't know if adapt and make it applicable and build working is enough to have multiboot correct and don't cause bugs (from an ubuntu issue on launchpad seems that ubuntu binaries have more issue that same upstream version and major of source changes is multiboot patch, so can be a cause of issue, I'm not sure) Is there anyone with enough knowledge about it that want help me get the correct multiboot part for 5.31b for experimental please? Bug#943752: memtest86+: Please switch source tree
Hi, new build is now in experimental with latest upstream beta version (5.31b) about coreboot git some links are not working, one working seems this: https://review.coreboot.org/plugins/gitiles/memtest86plus but latest commit was of 2 years and half ago and is based on 5.01 on other linked here (https://review.coreboot.org/q/project:memtest86plus) there are other patches not merged I don't understand if coreboot fork is still maintaned or abandoned about upstream there would be a lot of need for a git to contribute to (now missed), the only thing I found for comunicate is a mail, I sent one suggesting to add a git OpenPGP_signature Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#900399: memtest86+: very probably kills system controller on Lenovo Thinkpad T500 laptop
Hi, I used many times memtest86+ but never broken hardware and I suppose also in this case is not the cause. What I have seen in several cases instead in which it restarted/turned off/blocked that the cause was an overheating problem that should be solved BEFORE these tests, in my cases was always solved by changing the thermal paste (needed on near all servers/pc/notebook after many years). Described my experience hoping to help someone has similar problems and thinking that memtest is the cause read this bug OpenPGP_signature Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#994515: memtest86+: Bullseye version freezes, buster version was okay
Hi, 5.01-3.1 add only a serial console fix and should not be the cause of regression. The previous version was of years before and I suppose was ok because built with older gcc, with newer gcc I saw some issue and was solved in new version now in experimental. Bug#1004126: memtest86+.iso does not boot from USB
thanks for test the package in experimental and report the iso part should not be different from upstream except the the reproducibility changes (that I saw that was not working), today I did a small patch that make the iso with xorriso instead of cdrkit and a working change to make build reproducible (for now is only in git), tomorrow I'll do some tests with the iso if I'll have time small note: makeiso.sh use the .bin that as already saw in some cases don't work correctly but the .elf yes, so in 5.31b+dfsg-1 I changed the default in grub2 from .bin to .elf (the iso instead remain with .bin), like what already done in ubuntu long time ago OpenPGP_signature Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#1004126: memtest86+.iso does not boot from USB
today on the tests for 5.31b+dfsg-3 I saw that iso is working on cd but not on usb, looking at www.memtest.org "Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO" is the same but "Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 7/8/10)" produce a different content that I not found in source code from a fast look, I don't know how to change the iso to make working also on usb and in these days I don't have enought time to document me and do it (I want do something also on other packages I maintain and projects I support), if someone already knows and wants to do a patch when I'll have time I will test it OpenPGP_signature Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#1004126: memtest86+.iso does not boot from USB
Control: found -1 5.01-3 the iso on usb pendrive not working is not "a regression" of experimental build, I tried older version I saw that have the same issue OpenPGP_signature Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#1004565: [memtest86] Stable hangs just after starting
Hi, I reproduced the similar issue many times and should be solved in memtest86+ 5.31b+dfsg-1, can you confirm using the new version that is now in experimental? About memtest86 package I suppose it is no longer supported because version 5 and newer are proprietary and there is no new work upstream on version 4 for 8 years if I'm not mistaken, memtest86+ (its fork) have low support upstream but seems still alive and I invested some time for its debian package. Open a unique bug (this) for both I think is wrong as they are "different". I don't mark as fixed (about memtest86+) for now as the issues that cause freeze on version in stable/testing/unstable should be multiple, newer upstream version and additional patches fixes different issues with newer gcc and newer hardware but I'm not sure that solves all cases. Bug#989001: memtest86+: Fails to run in Grub graphical(?) mode?
Hi, thanks for replt, is high probable you don't have issue with grub itself but memtest86+, the version in stable/testing/unstable don't work in major of case as I saw, experimental one with latest upstream version and other patches have many fixes for newer hardware and newer gcc and also other improvements related to grub, can you test it please?
