Under the documentation for the --which option in the apt-listchanges
man page, it claims, "The default is to display only news." I agree
that this _should_ be the default, but in fact it does not appear to
be. With no configuration changes to the stock apt-listchanges
installation, if you run apt-listchanges on a deb file it gives you
the changelog entries, not the news entries. Personally I think the
correct fix here is to make news the default, not change the man page.
Reportbug tells me that this package is currently unmaintained. I have
not been directly involved with Debian in the past, but I maintain
numerous open-source packages and am interested in getting more
involved, and this seems like a good opportunity for me to do that, if
someone who is already involved and has more cred than I do is able to
confirm, "Yeah, the change you're proposing sounds reasonable, go
ahead and give it a shot." I would rather not spend the time to ramp
up if the change is just going to be rejected.
