In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * Fix FTBS:
add CFLAGS+="-U_FORTIFY_SOURCE" in debian/rules since Ubuntu
default -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 clashes with duma overloading all
standard memory allocation functions.

We thought you might be interested in doing the same. This patch may
be helpful for building the package with different default settings.

Package: duma

Severity: normal

Hi Julien,

I just tried to use duma for a simple buffer overrun example. However, I was
unable to use the "duma" command:

torsten@pulsar:~/strbuf_protect$ duma ./example
ERROR: ld.so: object './libduma.so.0.0.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded:
ignored.
[program output...]

However, setting LD_PRELOAD manually works:

torsten@pulsar:~/strbuf_protect$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libduma.so.0.0.0 ./example
DUMA 2.5.15 (shared library, NO_LEAKDETECTION)

Identifier 0 maps to name foo.
Buffer too small for name of identifier 1.
Segmentation fault

I am wondering over the segfault (valgrind detects the error, but electric
fence segfaults as well) - the example overwrites some hundred bytes after the
end of the buffer.

Greetings, Torsten

Package: duma

Severity: important

The DUMA error reporting routine uses strerror because the
DUMA_NO_STRERROR has not been set during compilation. strerror() uses
malloc() in the standard libc, so an infinite call loop is started.
Defining DUMA_NO_STRERROR in the GNUmakefile solved the problem.

Dear Maintainer,

The script duma included in the package duma has a number of issues:

1. assumes the library is in '.', which is certainly not the case. ATM
it is in /usr/lib . It should eventually move to an arch-dependent
   directory?

2. It uses '$*' to expand parameters. It should use '"$@"'.

3. It uses /bin/bash on the shebang line. At first glance I see no reason
why it should not be a /bin/sh script.

Attached a patch for (1) and (2), both of which break that script badly.

Bug#995405: Confirmation

2021-10-01 Thread Dirk Ziegelmeier
Hello,

I can confirm this bug. I'm using pygccxml at work - on buster, it issues a
python warning that time.clock() is deprecated. On bullseye, the package
does not work at all any more.

It seems pygccxml has been updated, there is a version 2.2.1 available.
Either the python3-pygccxml could be upgraded, or a python3-pygccxml2
package could be created?

Best regards
Dirk
