# dpkg -L libots0 | grep bin/
/usr/bin/ots

It would be fine if the ots binary would reside in a separate binary
package (named 'ots' for example).

Bug#968234: sendmail starttls moans about unsafe key "Permission denied"

2020-08-11 Thread Michael Grant
# ls -ald / /etc /etc/mail /etc/mail/private /etc/mail/private/mailhost.key.pem
drwxr-xr-x 29 root root 4096 Aug 11 09:10 /
drwxr-xr-x 124 root root 12288 Aug 11 12:50 /etc
drwxr-sr-x 10 smmta smmsp 4096 Aug 11 12:52 /etc/mail
drwx-- 2 root smmsp 4096 Aug 11 12:44 /etc/mail/private
-r 1 root smmsp 1679 Jul 7 11:10 /etc/mail/private/mailhost.key.pem

I think the reason it’s not working is sendmail changes it’s effective uid to
smmta or smmsp (depending on whether its an mta or msp).

/etc/mail/private probably should be owned by smmta. And/or group readable and
searchable (g+rx) by group smmsp.

I ran across a similar permissions problem when using certs from
letsencrypt/certbot. I got around it by

1. Adding smmta,smmsp to the ssl-cert group in /etc/group:
ssl-cert:x:114:smmta,smmsp
2. Creating a post-hook script for certbot to run after it renews a cert:
chgrp -R ssl-cert /etc/letsencrypt/archive
find /etc/letsencrypt/archive -name privkey\* -exec chmod o-rw {} \;
# the find is because cerbot seems to create world readable private keys which
sendmail complains about

I started to think that maybe adding something to /usr/share/sendmail/update_mk
which creates /etc/mail/Makefile to do this chown/chmod of /etc/mail/private
and the keys/certs in there. But I don’t have /etc/mail/private on my Debian
install, and don’t see it in any of the packages, did I miss something?

So unless I’ve misunderstood and /etc/mail/private is not part of sendmail,
maybe all you need to do is:

chown -R smmta /etc/mail/private
chmod g+rx /etc/mail/private
chmod g+r /etc/mail/*

This is how I would fix it on my own system, if someone has a better, more
secure solution, I’d love to know it.

Michael Grant

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-10/g++-10, but succeeds to build with gcc-9/g++-9. The
severity of this report will be raised before the bullseye release,
so nothing has to be done for the buster release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc10-20200225/ifhp_3.5.20-16_unstable_gcc10.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 10, either set CC=gcc-10 CXX=g++-10 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-10/porting_to.html

Bug#968234: sendmail starttls moans about unsafe key "Permission denied"

2020-08-11 Thread Harald Dunkel

Hi Michael,

making the key group-readable seems to have done the trick.
Maybe its me, but I didn't expect that. I learned that the
key file should be readable by as few accounts as possible.
Thanx for the hint.

The problem is,though, sendmail doesn't tell.

Path to key and certificate file can be defined in starttls.m4.
Owner and group of the key file are hardwired somewhere, AFAICT.

Regards
Harri

Bug#957717: [Help] pvm: ftbfs with GCC-10

2020-08-11 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

while I do not intend to maintain pvm personally some Debian Med package
depend from it. Thus I like to see bug #957717 fixed but I need help.
I commited some general packaging changes so you can find the last
packaging state in Git[1]. When building this I get the following
output:
