Bug#950620: abiword: Poor cursor visibility while moving with arrow keys

2020-02-04 Thread Mikko Rasa
Package: abiword
Version: 3.0.2-9+b1
Severity: wishlist

Most programs make the cursor visible when a key is pressed and only blink
it when idle. Abiword does this too when letters are typed but ignores
arrow keys. As a result the cursor is periodically invisible when moving
around the document. What's worse, pressing an arrow key seems to actually
turn the cursor *off*, which makes it very annoying to move to the exact
position you want to edit.

Dear Maintainer,

debian-installer-launcher doesn't load apt-cdrom-setup for the live installer.
This is causing GRUB fail to install if no network connection is present,
since apt-setup is disabling all local sources after install.

Reproducible in: Debian Stable Live CD / DVD
Reproducible: Always

Steps to reproduce:

1- Start a VM or bare metal server without any network connection.
2- Boot a live Debian stable.
3- Install it via live environment.
4- GRUB packages will fail to install despite they're on the install medium.

Expected outcome
4a- GRUB is installed using the repository embedded into the ISO.

My research led me to the apt-cdrom-setup udeb, which is installed for
normal installs, but not for the live-installs, hence I patched the
debian-installer-launcher to force-load it via anna.

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

I run the ;iveCD, with MATE flavour. Then I run the installer from the desktop
icon.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Just run orca, the screen reader. It will speak, in gnome and MATE flavours.
For instance, move on the desktop with arrow keys, you'll have the icons
spoken.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Once run, nothing happens. Orca stays quite. Doesn't read any widget.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Should speak. Indeed:
- the installer is GTK-based;
- the accessibility stack is here, as the desktop is running;
- Orca, at-spi, etc are running.

So probably a "pipe" issue.

*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***

Best regards,

--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

The version of this package that was in Debian prior to this removal
can still be found using http://snapshot.debian.org/.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 950...@bugs.debian.org.

The full log for this bug can be viewed at https://bugs.debian.org/950498
