Bug#946270: xpdf: can't search for various Unicode characters

2019-12-06 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: xpdf
Version: 3.04-13
Severity: normal

It is not possible to search for various Unicode characters.
The concerned characters seem to be the ones that are not in
ISO-8859-1 (even though I use UTF-8 locales), such as €, δ, →.
The "Find" dialogue box does not accept such characters, either
via the keyboard or via copy-paste.

Bug#946276: mark docbook-website Multi-Arch: foreign

2019-12-06 Thread Helmut Grohne
Package: docbook-website
Version: 2.5.0.0-8
Tags: patch
User: debian-cr...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: cross-satisfiability
Control: affects -1 + src:libzeep

libzeep fails to satisfy its cross Build-Depends, because its dependency
on docbook-website is not satisfiable. In general, Architecture: all
packages can never satisfy cross Build-Depends unless marked Multi-Arch:
foreign or annotated :native. In this case, the multiarch hinter does
not suggest the Multi-Arch: foreign marking, because docbook-website has
maintainer scripts. I checked the maintainer scripts to be architecture
agnostic. Many other docbook stylesheet packages are already thus
marked. Please consider applying the attached patch.

While your change to fontforge is gnulib-related. The bug you closed is
with gnulib, not fontforge. It no longer affects fontforge, but it's
still there.

Hi,

my laptop has a “mute” key but also a “mic mute” key. The Mute key is
correctly supported by volti (when using the Xlib backend), but MicMute
isn't. It'd be nice to support the XF86AudioMicMute key as well.

Dear Maintainer,

I find that when I mute volti, it mutes both the volume in the Playback
menu of pavucontrol, as well as the stream in the "Output" menu of
pavucontrol. But when I click ummute, only the stream in the Playback
menu is being unmuted, while I have to unmute the stream in the Output

Package: volti
Version: 0.2.3-4
Severity: normal

Hello and thanks for maintaining Volti in Debian!

I've just installed this package and I'm giving it a try.

I noticed that the internal mixer shows volume level numerical values
that differ from the ones shown by alsamixer.
I think that this is very confusing, especially if one plans to use
alsamixer in some circumstances and volti in other ones.

I found out that there's a configuration option to disable the internal
mixer and use an external one: I chose to use alsamixer as external
mixer and thought I could be happy with this setting.

Unfortunately the channel that is controlled by the slider that is
obtained by left-clicking on the volti icon in the systray is affected
by the same issue! :-(
Hence, if this slider controls the master channel, I may see that volti
claims its volume level is 95, while alsamixer says that the Master
level is 88. Changing this level from either volti or alsamixer modifies
both numbers, but they are never equal to each other!
Again, I think this is very confusing.

Please fix this bug and/or forward my bug report upstream, as
appropriate.

Thanks for your time.

Dear Maintainer,

Your package volti depends against the python-gobject transitional
package.

We would like to drop this transitional package for buster.

Could you please switch to either python-gobject-2 (if your package
is using the old python binding for GObject) or to python-gi (if your
package is using the new gobject-introspection one).

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests. Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue
by one of the following actions.

- Convert your Package to Python3. This is the preferred option. In
case you are providing a Python module foo, please consider dropping
the python-foo package, and only build a python3-foo package. Please
don't drop Python2 modules, which still have reverse dependencies,
  just document them.

  This is the preferred option.

- If the package is dead upstream, cannot be converted or maintained
in Debian, it should be removed from the distribution. If the
package still has reverse dependencies, raise the severity to
"serious" and document the reverse dependencies with the BTS affects
command. If the package has no reverse dependencies, confirm that
the package can be removed, reassign this issue to ftp.debian.org,
make sure that the bug priority is set to normal and retitle the
issue to "RM: PKG -- removal triggered by the Python2 removal".

- If the package has still many users (popcon >= 300), or is needed to
build another package which cannot be removed, document that by
adding the "py2keep" user tag (not replacing the py2remove tag),
using the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org user. Also any
dependencies on an unversioned python package (python, python-dev)
must not be used, same with the python shebang. These have to be
replaced by python2/python2.7 dependencies and shebang.

This is the least preferred option.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:volti

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

pygtk is unmaintained upstream. It has not had a release since GNOME 3
was released in 2011. Also, it uses Python2 and Python2 is being removed
from Debian.

The way forward is to port your app to use GObject Introspection
bindings.

For more information on GObject Introspection see [1] and [2].

Please try to do this before the Debian 11 "Bullseye" release as
we're going to remove pygtk this cycle.

If you have any question don't hesitate to ask.

Bug#945946: Removed package(s) from unstable

2019-12-06 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

 volti |0.2.3-7 | source, all

--- Reason ---
RoQA; unmaintained Python2 package
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 945...@bugs.debian.org.

The full log for this bug can be viewed at https://bugs.debian.org/945946
