Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests. Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue
by one of the following actions.

- Convert your Package to Python3. This is the preferred option. In
case you are providing a Python module foo, please consider dropping
the python-foo package, and only build a python3-foo package. Please
don't drop Python2 modules, which still have reverse dependencies,
  just document them.

  This is the preferred option.

- If the package is dead upstream, cannot be converted or maintained
in Debian, it should be removed from the distribution. If the
package still has reverse dependencies, raise the severity to
"serious" and document the reverse dependencies with the BTS affects
command. If the package has no reverse dependencies, confirm that
the package can be removed, reassign this issue to ftp.debian.org,
make sure that the bug priority is set to normal and retitle the
issue to "RM: PKG -- removal triggered by the Python2 removal".

- If the package has still many users (popcon >= 300), or is needed to
build another package which cannot be removed, document that by
adding the "py2keep" user tag (not replacing the py2remove tag),
using the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org user. Also any
dependencies on an unversioned python package (python, python-dev)
must not be used, same with the python shebang. These have to be
replaced by python2/python2.7 dependencies and shebang.

This is the least preferred option.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-ttystatus

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Bug#945676: obex-data-server: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

Source: obex-data-server
Version: 0.4.6-1
Severity: normal
Tags: sid bullseye

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests (the specific reason can be found searching this
source package in
https://people.debian.org/~morph/mass-bug-py2removal_take3.txt ).
Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue by one of the following
actions.

Package: ipcheck
Version: 0.134-1
Severity: wishlist

It'd be lovely if the ipcheck package did all the magic required to
have it automatically update the dyndns.org database when one's IP
address actually changed. I suspect most users have simply setup cron
to update the dyndns.org database, regardless of whether or not their
IP address had changed. It'd be nice if ipcheck not only updated only
when necessary (ie: on IP address change) but also made sure it
updated at least every 28 days to make sure people with static or
relatively static dynamic IPs didn't lose their hostnames. Also, I
believe setting up cron to update often (read: every five minutes)
falls into the category of "abuse" under the terms of the dyndns.org
user agreement.

Hi,

I would like to have the possibility in cplay to add items to playlist
from "outside", that is, from another shell and not the cplay user
interface. In that way it would be possible to change the playlist
without navigating with the cplay "Filelist".

xmms supports such a feature. If xmms is running and you run a command
like 'xmms $SOMEDIR/audio.mp3' it is played at once. You can also supply
paths and m3u playlists to xmms with this command.
If you run the same command with the parameter '-e', the items are added
(enqueued) to the current playlist of xmms.

I would like to have such behaviour for cplay, too.

Package: cplay
Version: 1.49-4
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

The cplay handling of scrolling lists has always seemed suboptimal. In
both the directory / file window and the playlist window, as you scroll
up or down, there is no text overlap between screenfuls. In addition,
the PgUp and PgDown keys always reposition your cursor at the top of
the window.

The following patch provides a 2-line overlap between screenfuls, and,
as much as possible, keeps your cursor on the same screen line as you
page up and down. Despite the length of the patch (it was harder than
it looked!) there are no other changes.

It is reasonably well tested, but I'm not a Python programmer, so
caveat maintainor.

Package: ipcheck
Version: 0.207-2
Severity:

The script works with SMC routers specifically the 7004ABR Barricade and the
7004VBR Barricade only if you login before you run the script, set the
administrator timeout to zero and kill the browser. THIS CONFIGURATION IS
UNACCEPTABLE! This leaves the router config open on the linux box in question
and does not allow for a proper securing of the router. ANY person logging in
on the linux box in question running the ipcheck script with the open router
login will have access to modifythe router if connected. This is a major
security hole.

Your script in an ideal situation for both routers should do the following:

1. Log in to the router.
2. switch to the status.HTM page on the router
3. Read the IP address
4. Log out of the router.

This should occur with an administrator login timeout of ten minutes.

I am willing to test your script but am unable to write in python. I do
not know python scripting.

Package: ipcheck
Version: 0.233-1

ipcheck does not detect the ip on Alcatel routers with firmware version
4.3.2.6.
The command to show the ip list has changed, and the list has another form,
Here is a transcript:

=> ip iplist
Interface TypeIP-address Point-to-point/Mask
2 LocalNetworkEthernet *192.168.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.0
1 InternetSerial 83.53.215.201192.168.153.1
0 loopInternal127.0.0.1255.255.255.255

I made that modification to the ipcheck program, that works for me, and I
believe the previous functionality is preserved,

# connect to the router's admin webpage
try:
  logger.logit("Trying Alcatel STP")
  # disables negotiation to prevent the connection being dropped
  telnetlib.IAC="\021"
  tn = telnetlib.Telnet(iphost)
  logger.logit("Creating telnetlib obj done")
  tn.read_until(" : ")
  logger.logit("User prompt found")
  tn.write(Alcatel_user + "\r")
  tn.write(opt_AlcatelSTP_password + "\r")
  logger.logit("opt_AlcatelSTP_password sent")
  tn.read_until("=>")
  tn.write("ip aplist\r")
  logger.logit("ip aplist sent")
  ret=tn.read_until("SERIAL",5)

# is an Alcatel version 4.3.2.6 ?
tn.write("\r")
tn.read_until("=>")
tn.write("ip iplist\r")
logger.logit("ip iplist sent")

Package: cplay
Version: 1.49-6
Severity: minor

Image that you play a song, then you either select the next song (with
n) or start the same song again (with enter), and then you immediately
press ctrl-f to forward in the new song. In most cases, cplay does
the right thing and starts the forward from offset 0 in the new file.
However, in some cases it starts from the offset of the last song
which was played.

This is a bit tricky to reproduce since you have to be very quick and
need some luck, but I added some debug messages to cplay to show
what's going on. Basically, what happens is that the new song is
chosen, offset is set to 0, but then sometimes parse_progress() would
be called which still has the file handles of the old song. It will
parse the output and set offset to the old offset, overwriting
offset = 0 which was just set.

I guess cplay should immediately close the file handles when a new
song is chosen to make sure that the output of the old song is not
parsed.

Here is the case when a new song was chosen, ctrl-f pressed
immediately and it would continue from the old offset. The
interesting line is "Player set_position(): offset = 3039..." right
after the offset is set to 0:

[the old song plays at some offset]
Player set_position(): offset = 3037, length  = 7197, values = [3037, 4160]
Player parse_progress(): self.stopped: 0, self.step: 0
Player set_position(): offset = 3039, length  = 7198, values = [3039, 4159]

Applicaton play(): ok, found player: offset = 0
play(): self.offset : 0
play(): self.offset : 0

Hello,

I am using often splay, because it is cool and is not X.

I encountered errors when trying to paly a playlist of streams, containing into
a m3u type file.
It is the rmffm of m3u that is available on the next. So the program hangs and
cannot play the music.

I can manage using : mplayer -playlist rmf.m3u

Any ideas to make cplay better in the future?

cheers

Package: ipcheck
Version: 0.233-1
Severity: minor
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: python2.6

Hello,
One of the changes brought by Python 2.6 is the removal of string
exceptions, so they won't work in Python 2.6 (just a side note: they
were also buggy before, since they were not guaranteed to work
reliable even in <2.6); as an example:

$ python2.5 -c "raise 'eggs'"
-c:1: DeprecationWarning: raising a string exception is deprecated
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
eggs

$ python2.6 -c "raise 'eggs'"
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
TypeError: exceptions must be old-style classes or derived from BaseException,
not str

Since 2.6 is the planned default version for the upcoming new Debian
stable release, there are chances your package may be affected by this
change.

We are not sure your package is impacted, since the exception raise
can be in a dead or very rare branch of the code, and so simply never
being executed. We would like to leverage your package maintainer
status and the relationship with upstream authors to inspect more
deeply the issue and act accordingly (that includes: making this bug
release critical, closing it as irrelevant, tagging it 'wontfix', or
whatever is appropriate).

Jakub Wilk made the discovery of the problem and kindly prepared a
list [1] of all identified packages (downloaded on 2010-06-09) along
with files & lines that triggered the pattern search.

[1] http://people.debian.org/~morph/strexp/string-exceptions.lintian

This mass-bug filing was announced at 2010-06-06 on [2] (see the
thread and the references there).

[2] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/06/msg00097.html

We do not consider the whole situation a stopper for the Python
transition to 2.6, except (of course) for those single bugs where
severity will be increased.

Thanks in advance for your attention,
Sandro on behalf of debian-python

When you start cplay passing it a directory of songs to play and then
immediately press 'n' before cplay comes up it gets confused. It will
play the first song and say that it's playing the first song, but the
second song will be highlighted. When you press 'n' in cplay, it will
go to the third song (skipping the second one).

I've attached a screenshot.

This may or may not be related to #287871 ("seek forward can start from
wrong offset when new song is chosen").

Hi,
I am using a Siemens Speedstream 2604 router which has a dyndns client
built in. It seems to be different from the Siemens 2620, which is already
supported by ipcheck. I am submitting information which I hope is sufficient
to add support for the 2604.

One of the password protected pages (at least in my config), that displays
the IP is (with router being my router): http://router/title.htm

Dear Maintainer,

the version of cplay that is packaged with debian is 7 years old. The
upstream source is no longer active, but there are two active forks I
know of: (maintained by myself) and
.

Both forks have fixed several bug, refactored the code to modern
coding python coding standards (e.g. pep8), and support python3. They
have also added support for new backends like gst123 and mpv. My
version is packaged for pypi. We activly share patches.

Note that I started my fork after reporting
.

Given that python2 support will end in 2020, I would like to ask you
to switch to one of these upstream repos. Is there anything we can do
to help with that switch?

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests (the specific reason can be found searching this
source package in
https://people.debian.org/~morph/mass-bug-py2removal_take2.txt ).
Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue by one of the following
actions.

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Bug#827890: Removed package(s) from unstable

2019-11-27 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

 cplay | 1.50-2 | source, all

--- Reason ---
RoQA; orphaned 3+ years ago; python2-only; dead upstream; low popcon
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 827...@bugs.debian.org.

 dctrl2xml | 0.20 | source, all

--- Reason ---
RoQA; orphaned 2+ years ago; python2-only; dead upstream (native pkg); low
popcon

If you
have further comments please address them to 869...@bugs.debian.org.
