The Perl situation is different.

In Perl this is part of a larger clause in the Artistic licence.

The clause in the Artistic licence explicitely allows charging money for
a software distribution that includes perl, and that makes it DFSG-free.

This is a borderline case, and likely the DFSG are worded this way to
allow code under the Artistic licence in main.

unicon does not allow usage for commercial purpose, which is a clear
violation of DFSG clause 6.

Using Debian in your business, or selling a computer with Debian
installed, are pretty basic usecases that are not possible with
such licencing.

RFC6106[1], which obsoletes RFC5006[2], specifies DNSSL for DNS search lists.
radvd already supports them but rdnssd does not pick them up from RAs. It
would be nice if rdnssd would support both RDNSS and DNSSL to offer feature
equality to the DNS conveying parts of DHCPv6 and DHCPv4.

Hi,

According to RFC 5006, section 5.1, the lifetime field of an RDNSS option has a
special meaning for the values of zero and all-ones:

A value of all one bits (0x) represents infinity. A value of
zero means that the RDNSS address MUST no longer be used.

Thus said, rdnssd unconditionally adds the value of lifetime to the
current timestamp (now), which causes two undesired effects:

1. In the case of all ones, it causes the unsigned 32-bit expiry variable to
wrap-around and the subsequent code to completely ignore the DNS servers
specified.
2. In the case of lifetime being zero, it ignores the current RDNSS, but does
not remove the specified nameservers from the server list.

Attached you will find a patch working around this issue. The patch is
against 1.0.0, but it applies cleanly to 0.9.7 as well.

Thanks

Patch (not my own) is ithere
https://github.com/ManiacTwister/Hotot/commit/bd1c2cb44ea9977973fc07f6401dcdeee6141755

I manually patched my current hotot installation (files in
/usr/hotot/search) successfully with that patch and search works again.

Dear Maintainer,

The version of hotot in wheezy is currently unusable with Twitter (though the
identi.ca backend may work, I did not test). The problem is that it uses
Twitter's 1.0 API, which has been retired on June 11, 2013.

There are two possible solutions:

- upload a new upstream release to wheezy, though I doubt the Release Team
  would accept that;

- or remove hotot from wheezy, and upload a recent version to wheezy-backports.

The second solution should be very easy to implement: I was able to compile
hotot 1:0.9.8.14-2 on wheezy without any change to the source package.

Cheers,

Hi,

hotot-gtk depends on python-webkit, which is deprecated and going to
be removed from the archive. hotot-gtk should switch to using the
GObject Introspection bindings for webkit, ideally gir1.2-webkit2-3.0
for Webkit2 and gtk+3 as upstream has already dropped WebKit1 (so
gir1.2-webkit-1.0 and gir1.2-webkit-3.0 are likely to be dropped from
Debian in the near future). This would mean switching to GObject
Introspection for other bindings as well, e.g. GLib and GTK+, so
making the switch to GTK+ 3 at the same time would make a lot of
sense.

For more information on GObject Introspection see [1] and [2].

If you have any question don't hesitate to ask.

Dear Debian QA Group ,

As you might know we the Qt/KDE team are preparing to remove Qt4's WebKit
as announced in [announce].

[announce]

Basically we are about to get the latest Qt4 point release and upstream is
migrating from WebKit to Bing in the Qt5 series, so we won't have much upstream
support for maintaining Qt4's WebKit.

In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on
the Qt4's WebKit library have to either get ported to Qt5 or eventually get
removed from the Debian repositories.

Therefore, please take the time and:
- contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a Qt5
port of your application
- if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are
suitable alternatives for your users
- if there is a Qt5 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it
- if both the Qt4 and the Qt5 versions already coexist in the Debian
archives, consider removing the Qt4 version

= Porting =

Some of us where involved in various Qt4 to Qt5 migrations [migration] and we
know for sure that porting stuff from Qt4 to Qt5 is much much easier and less
painful than it was from Qt3 to Qt4.

We also understand that there is still a lot of software still using Qt4. In
order to ease the transition time we have provided Wheezy backports for Qt5.

Don't forget to take a look at the C++ API changes page [apichanges] whenever
you start porting your application.

[migration] http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/packagingqtstuff.html
[apichanges] http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/sourcebreaks.html

For any questions and issues, do not hesitate to contact the Debian Qt/KDE
team at debian-qt-...@lists.debian.org

Ana,
on behalf of the Qt4 maintainers

Bug#658886: Removed package(s) from unstable

2016-10-14 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

 proll | 18-6 | source, all

--- Reason ---
RoQA; not in stable, obsolete
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 658...@bugs.debian.org.

 - This mail is in HTML. Some elements may be ommited in plain text. -

Mein lieber Freund,

Bug#840797: rc: Incorrect keystroke interpretation

2016-10-14 Thread Ricardo Fabian Peliquero
Package: rc
Version: 1.7.4-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Neither Spanish accented vowels nor the "eñe" are echoed into rc(1) when
executed as a login shell in virtual ttys with a latam keyboard layout.
Nevertheless, if rc(1) is executed again, as a subshell, or when running a
readline dependant program such as ed, mutt or dvtm, those keys will print the
expected characters.

Please, do have a look at this bug report for further information:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=833116

I would like your advise to evaluate if it is an rc, a login1 or a readline
related problem. Please, let me know which other tests would you consider to be
useful.

Kind regards,

Ricardo
