If all the arch-independent packages are dummy transitional packages released with jessie, the easy fix is to drop them now. If not, debian/rules should be modified so that the binary-indep target generates the architecture independent packages (and only those). Bug#806487: This was fixed in an update to binutils 2.26
Upstream bugs https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19538 and https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19615 This was fixed in Debian somewhere between binutils-2.26-3 (which is affected) and -8 (which works fine). This can probably be closed or assigned to the binutils package. Regards, Adam
