This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/bin/zap

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

Dear Maintainer,

The CPPFLAGS hardening flags are missing because the build system
overwrites them in ./configure. For more hardening information
please have a look at [1], [2] and [3].

The attached patch fixes the issue, if possible it should be sent
to upstream.

To check if all flags were correctly enabled you can use
`hardening-check` from the hardening-includes package and check
the build log (for example with blhc [4]) (hardening-check
doesn't catch everything):

$ hardening-check /usr/bin/wxmaxima
/usr/bin/wxmaxima:
Position Independent Executable: no, normal executable!
 Stack protected: yes
Fortify Source functions: no, only unprotected functions found!
 Read-only relocations: yes
 Immediate binding: no not found!

Fortify Source functions is still no, but now the CPPFLAGS are
passed correctly and thus will be used when possible in the
future.

(Position Independent Executable and Immediate binding is not
enabled by default.)

Use find -type f \( -executable -o -name \*.so\* \) -exec
hardening-check {} + on the build result to check all files.

Regards,
Simon

Upstream applied essentially the same change in 13.04.2 (or perhaps in
an earlier version not packaged for Debian), and you can see
"-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2" in the buildd logs for 13.04.2-1, so closing this

Aha, so if I add and use a French keyboard layout I can reproduce these
issues - thanks for the pointers.

I've rebuilt with these applied and it fixed both the AltGr and cut and
paste issues, so I've done a QA upload with a new patch containing the
changes from those two commits, plus a switch back to wx3.

If you still see problems, please reopen.

Cheers,
Olly

Dear maintainer,

We're aiming to migrate the archive to using wxwidgets3.0 instead of
wxwidgets2.8.

I've built and done some basic testing of your package with the attached
patch and it seems to work - I could enter and solve a simple quadratic
equation.

I'm happy to NMU this change if you wish me to - just let me know.

Cheers,
Olly

Dear Maintainer,

We plan to add multiarch capability to the Debian Tcl/Tk packages soon.
Unfortunately, eggdrop's configure script can't find libtcl8.5.so in the new
location (/usr/lib/, see [1] for the build log).

I'd like to propose a patch which fixes this FTBFS. It can't be applied
currently to eggdrop in unstable, but you can test it with Tcl from
experimental, where multiarch is already enabled.

Please enable hardened build flags through dpkg-buildflags.See
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/02/msg00016.html
for details.

Patch attached. relro isn't handled yet, since the upstream
buildsystem doesn't properly propagate LDFLAGS yet.

The patch eggdrop-format.patch fixes missing format strings exposed
by -Werror=format-security.

Cheers,
Moritz

Dear Maintainer,

The location of eggdrop's lang files is not properly configured.
This results
in messages such as "Please enter your password" instead being
displayed as
"MSGC1C". As I run eggdrop under another account, exporting
EGG_LANGDIR wasn't
sufficient.

A solution is to add the following to the config file:
 #!/usr/bin/eggdrop
 set ::env(EGG_LANGDIR) /usr/share/eggdrop/language/
 relang

This forces it to look in the proper location, but the underlying
bug still
should be looked at.

Thanks
