I'm quite excited about Dates, since it's a smallish application that
I would very much like to use on my Openmoko phone. So I'm
experimenting it on my desktop computer first. Unfortunately, there
seems to be a problem somewhere: even though my evolution-data-server
has working remote (CalDAV) calendars, Dates doesn't see them.
Evolution allows me to edit them, the Gnome clock applet displays the
appointments, but Dates seems to only see the local calendar. That
makes it all but useless for me, since the point of a calendar
application is to have it shared over my desktop, my laptop and my
mobile phone.

Hello,

While dates displays all-day events as, well, an event that starts at 0:00
and ends at 0:00 next day, it seems like nothing special. But most of the
time, these types of events are different and are therefore treated
differently by evolution (display-wise) for example. Some sort of toggle
would be nice.

Moreover, when you try to edit and all-day event and try to give it a more
specific time interval, it will not work. The time is not changed, so it
is also not possible to transform an all-date event (which for me sometimes
codes for 'happening-this-day-but-time-interval-not-known-yet') into a
time-specific event.

Regards,
Paul

Hi!

Some of my calenders in the data server are read-only calenders. Dates
does not show this (except for a normal mouse pointer instead of the
move-appointment-hand pointer). This results in annoyance about the fact
that double-clicking on an appointment does not yield an edit dialog.

Hi,

we are planning to upload evolution and evolution-data-server 3.8 to
unstable soon. Your package dates declares a build dependency on
one of these packages:

 evolution-data-server-dev
 libedataserver1.2-dev
 libcamel1.2-dev
 libebook1.2-dev
 libedataserverui-3.0-dev
 libedata-book1.2-dev
 libecal1.2-dev
 libedata-cal1.2-dev
 libebackend1.2-dev

During a rebuild, dates failed to build against
evolution-data-server 3.8. The build log can be found at [1].

One notable change is, that libedataserverui has been dropped.
If your package build-depends on libedataserverui-3.0-dev, you'll need
to get rid of that dependency.

As for some of the other API changes, see the release announcements of
evolution-data-server 3.5.3 [2].

If you want to test-build dates, version 3.8 of evolution-data-server
is currently available in experimental.
If you don't have the time porting to the new e-d-s interfaces, disabling
e-d-s support (temporarily) might be an option. Otherwise dates will
have to be removed from testing to not block the transition.

Ubuntu and Fedora have already done this transition, so it might be
worthwile having a look at the patches they ship.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Michael,
on behalf of the Debian GNOME and Evolution team.

debian BTS as well. contacts is one of the few remaining packages
where I still need local modifications to make it usable on my

Hi,

we are planning to upload evolution and evolution-data-server 3.8 to
unstable soon. Your package contacts declares a build dependency on
one of these packages:

 evolution-data-server-dev
 libedataserver1.2-dev
 libcamel1.2-dev
 libebook1.2-dev
 libedataserverui-3.0-dev
 libedata-book1.2-dev
 libecal1.2-dev
 libedata-cal1.2-dev
 libebackend1.2-dev

During a rebuild, contacts failed to build against
evolution-data-server 3.8.

If you want to test-build contacts, version 3.8 of evolution-data-server
is currently available in experimental.
If you don't have the time porting to the new e-d-s interfaces, disabling
e-d-s support (temporarily) might be an option. Otherwise contacts will
have to be removed from testing to not block the transition.

Ubuntu and Fedora have already done this transition, so it might be
worthwile having a look at the patches they ship.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Michael,
on behalf of the Debian GNOME and Evolution team.

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors (ftp.debian.org
included) until the next dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Bug#723989: intermittent spurious NUL

2013-09-21 Thread Zefram
Package: nvi
Version: 1.81.6-8.2
Severity: minor

Occasionally, while entering text for an insert-like command, "^@" will
appear on the screen immediately following the insertion point, as if
there were a NUL character there in the file. It remains there during
text entry, the "^@" moving along as more text is entered before it.
It disappears at the end of text entry (following Esc). There's no
permanent effect on the file content.
