Dear maintainer,

To ease the use of selinux in debian for the user, it could be
convinient if the desktop managers were calling the necessary pam
module required to properly set the user security context.

If SELinux is not enabled on the user system, the pam module will
return a success.

You can find an example in my proposed a patch[0] for GDM3 or in the
login service.

You can find my inital request for feedback on debian-devel[1].

Cheers,

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#673302: dependency on libextractor-dev misses the epoch

2012-05-17 Thread Holger Levsen
package: gnunet
version: 0.9.2-1

Hi,

currently gnunet 0.9.2-1 build-depends on libextractor-dev (>=0.6.1) among
others. But, libextractor-dev has an epoch, so even the version in stable,
1:0.5.23+dfsg-7, will make dpkg think it's sufficient, while it's not, causing
a build failure.

cheers,
Holger

Bug#673304: libextractor: please migrate the libpoppler-dev build dependency to libpoppler-private-dev

Hi,

I'm planning a move of the poppler private headers, currently shipped
in libpoppler-dev, out of that package (which is installed by other
poppler -dev packages) to a new libpoppler-private-dev.
Could you please switch the libpoppler-dev build dependency to
libpoppler-private-dev? Attached there is a patch for it.

Thanks,

Package: gnunet-client
Version: 0.8.1b-5+b2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I wanted to have gnunet-chat on this box, so I searched to see which package
provides it. A little surprised that it isn't on "gnunet-tools" but on
"gnunet-client". I proceeded to install gnunet-client. As you might be aware,
gnunet-client depents on gnunet-common, but neither of those need gnunet-
tools,
so I ended up with both gnunet-client and gnunet-tools installed.

After the installation, I tried to use gnunet-chat, by running the command
"gnunet-chat". That command fails, stating that it failed to run gnunet-setup.
After looking for that binary, I found out that gnunet-setup is indeed not
present, and the package that provides it is gnunet-tools, which wasn't
installed.

In other words, gnunet-client, as it is, doesn't work (at least some
of the
provided binaries don't - gnunet-chat being the example) unless the
gnunet-tools package is installed. Thus, either gnunet-client needs to
depend
on gnunet-tools (either directly or indirectly), or the binaries that
need them
should be packaged in gnunet-tools instead of being in gnunet-client.

I didn't test this on the version uploaded on experimental, but I did
check
it's dependencies, and I'm pretty sure that experimental's gnunet-chat
still
need gnunet-setup...

Bug#673301: useless use of dpkg-statoverride

2012-05-17 Thread Holger Levsen
package: gnunet
version: 0.9.2-1

Hi Bertrand,

as you will have noticed, I've sponsored your gnunet upload to sid ;-)

I've done that, despite that I think your use of dpkg-statoverride is wrong,
based on my experiences with munin, where I've removed a similar usage in
April, which was in place since 5 years or so.

My reading of "man dpkg-statoverride" is, that it's a tool for
_administrators_ to (permanently!) override a package maintainers decission,
ie for making binaries setuid which are non-setuid in the package (or vice-
versa or whatever).

In the packaging scripts, chmod+chown can+should be used.

See munin-node's postinst script (attached) for an example how to get rid off
the overrides, without doing so on every package upgrade.

cheers,
Holger

Bug#666838: Apache2 2.4 transition postponed until after Wheezy

2012-05-17 Thread Stefan Fritsch
Hi,

we have decided to postpone the transition to apache2 2.4. The main blocker is
that mod_perl needs a major new upstream release which very likely won't be
ready in time for Wheezy and we don't want to release Wheezy without mod_perl.

The transition will probably happen shortly after the release of Wheezy. We are
sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Cheers,
Stefan
