Hi,

I uploaded libpng 1.5 to experimental.
libpng maintainers plan to transition from libpng 1.2 to 1.5.
I am checking build it the package depend to libpng.

I noticed your package FTBFS by libpng 1.5.
I attached build log.
Could you check your package?

Best regards,
  Nobuhiro

This appears to be the result of a change in zlib.h changing how gzfile
is defined.

The attatched patch removes the definition of gzfile from serialize.hh
and replaces it with an include of zlib.h

Note: I'm ccing wij...@debian.org as he has expressed an intent to adopt
this package.

Bug#578046: currupts archives on 64bit systems with buffers larger than 2gb

2012-02-27 Thread Koen Holtman

On Fri, 16 Apr 2010, Yuri D'Elia wrote:

Package: afio

archive by truncating all files larger than 2gb.

Thanks for the bug report and patch, I am reviewing and incorporating it
in the upstream.

The patch upgrades some uints to size_t, but it does not upgrade the count
argument of readall to size_t, so I think this might lead to the achive
ending up corrupt because not all data is written into it if your memory
buffer (size * block count) is over 4GB and the file being archived is
over 4 GB. I am not entirely sure, I have not tested it to verify, but
just a warning: if you upgraded to 4GB memory buffer you might have gotten
corrupt archives.

Cheers,

Koen.

Hi,

apt-build uses "debchange --append" to add entries on the changelog
file. Therefore, the change (build infos) is logged into the same log
entry as the official maintainer's one.

- First, the change is expected to be logged in a new entry, tagged
"non-maintainer upload" since it is generally indeed the case.

- Second, it means that the version of the local-built package will be the
same as the one from the official repository. This leads to a very
annoying bug with apt (see #351056). Indeed, after you've built all your
"world" and have stored them in your local repository, apt will want to
upgrade *all* your installed packages to the same version - the one from
your local repository - again and again...

These two issues are fixed by modifying "debchange --append" into
"debchange". This will add a new entry in the change log, tag it as
"non-maintainer upload" if you're not recognized as author of the
package and increment the minor version as expected.

I've attached a patch to fix this that way (though it's not very
useful given the small size of the adjustment).

During an "apt-build upgrade", the 'hpijs' package will be upgraded but
'apt-build' is "Unable to find source
information" while 'apt' seems to find it :

$ apt-get source hpijs
Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait

Nécessité de prendre 10,9Mo dans les sources.

(diff) [89,2kB]
10,9Mo réceptionnés en 2m16s (80,5ko/s)

An "apt-cache show hpijs" give us an essential information I think : "Source:
hplip".

I think that 'apt-build' searches for 'hpijs' instead of 'hplip' ;)

Good luck,
KnuX

it didn't

Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.37
Severity: normal

when source package uses cmake (such as KDE 4 or phonon), it probes for
compiler and the calls is directly (/usr/lib/apt-build/g++) when doing so,
build failes.
when building the source using regualr debian/rules binary-arch everything
is fine.

There was a question about this problem september last year on

I think it should not be necessary to do any additional steps (creating
keys, etc) just to get some package installed. Whatever is necessary
should be done by installing apt-build.

Package: apt-build

apt-build wll not build a package whose source is uploaded but its binary
is not. For instance, most architectures aside from i386 do not have binary
packages the same day the source is apt'able. So the apt source exists but
apt-build install fails. The offending code is in the install module. An
apt-get -y --print-uris install is run. Instead an apt-get -y --print-uris
source should be used. However, this breaks other checks in the install
module like the check for arch independent packages.

Package: apt-build
Version: 0.8

apt-build wll not build a package whose source is uploaded but its binary

Version: 0.12.40
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts
upgrade test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then
prompted the user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails.
But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt
shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile
at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded...

This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3,
which says "[These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary
questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good
citizens."

http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling should help with figuring
out how to do this properly.

In http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00675.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

Hi,

I have problem with apt-build because on help says:

but don't work.. I get:

# apt-build --apt-get=aptitude world
Unknown option: apt-get

and when I try with --apt_get work, but the apt-build calls 'aptitude
--yes' and crash...

When a package version number is terminated with "+b1", apt-build
download and install a version without this extension, and download and
"--reinstall" the original version with "+b1".

This bug is very annoying because in the case of a multiple binaries
source package, the whole set of binary packages is rebuilt with each
single package building query... for nothing !

I don't know the meaning of this "+b1" debian revision number, but I'd
like to know if, in the wait of a fix some day, I can rename my rebuilt
packages by adding the "+b1" without compromising the integrity of my
system ?

Marc Gasnot

There was a question about this problem september last year on

I think it should not be necessary to do any additional steps (creating
keys, etc) just to get some package installed. Whatever is necessary
should be done by installing apt-build.

Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.9
Severity: normal

maybe related, but not same, to 307677

apt-build build-source downloads other version than it tries to build.
apt-get source is ok, apt-build install installs version
with higher priority (in the example kpdf 4:3.3.2-2).
For packages, where there is only one version works ok.

situation in examples -
default distribution: unstable
kpdf 4:3.3.2-2 in unstable
kpdf 4:3.4.1-1 in experimental
(source package: kdegraphics)
psi 0.9.3-1 (the only version in archives)

example - listing of the use with various parameters:

Package: apt-build
Version: 0.8

apt-build wll not build a package whose source is uploaded but its binary
