I've testet licq, qtparted, k3b and the kernel build configurator "make xconfig". It's always reproducable and makes qt-applications useless with wmaker. The window frame of each qt application is visible, but opening any dialog window is not. Pressing ALT+TAB I can see that there should be the just opened dialog windows but I can't switch to any of them and they seem to be invisible. It is working with windowmaker for ia32 debian and other windowmanager like gnome for amd64, so it seems to be a bug in windowmaker for amd64. This worked well with a single exception - any docked applications, such as asclock, asasmixer, wmbattery, are not completly refreshed. The actual portion of the icon drawn by the application is refreshed (thus I do not this this is a bug in the applications themselves), but the icon backgrounds are not and ramian corrupted. Scratch your bald spot 6) Discover that the dialog got opened in the old workspace N I agree this is not necessarily a bug, but if you've got a large number of cluttered workspaces, this can be mighty confusing... IMHO, if all of GIMP's windows are in workspace K, then all its new dialogs by all means should also get displayed in this workspace! I first reported that to GIMP's bugzilla, but GIMP people tell me it is not their problem and everything behaves correctly in Sawfish or Metacity. I'm not sure if the following bugs are bugs in windowmaker, but I do think so, because it's all working with other window managers like gnome. 1) There is no dialog window opening in licq (e.g. skin browser, preferences). Switching through all windows with ALT+TAB you can see, that the dialog window should be open, but it seems to be invisible and cannot be set visible what makes it useless. 2) The first chat message dialog window (sending or receiving) pops up invisibly but can be set visible switching to that dialog window with ALT+TAB. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 329783: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=329783 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: wmaker Version: 0.91.0-7.2 Severity: important Hello, I'd like to report a (or may be this are two?) bug with WindowMaker which occurs if it has to display 'full-screen' in OpenOffice. The Debian configuration is 'stable' at the 'proposed-updates'-level, (i.e. sarge(-proposed-updages)), Intel i386 architecture. The problem is 'new' for sarge, it didn't occur with 'woody' and its '0.80' wmaker version and it exists for several graphic architectures (e.g. ati, nvidia, mga) for different X11 screen sizes (1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200). It also does not(!) appear when using GNOME or KDE resp. their windowmanagers, thus it is most likely related to (just) WindowMaker (0.91). The problem is, that when going to 'full-screen' mode in OpenOffice Impress via menu or short-key Ctrl-Shift-J, the window becomes large, but the 'offset' to the upper-left corner is somewhere to the left and above mid-screen, but not in the real upper-left hand corner; also the window-borders are missing (or overlapped), so that it cannot be dragged or repositioned. Thus this mode is useless. This would account for a severity of 'normal' in my eyes, but what makes it 'important' instead is, that the presentation mode of (OpenOffice) Impress gives a window totally within the screen-window, but considerably smaller than the screen (as if it got a wrong size information), has no borders (which would be expected here!), and has a contents of large black stripes at the top and bottom and an (empty?) white mid-section. This, of course, makes the presentation mode useless! The OpenOffice versions I experienced this with, are a 1.1.4 version (self-installed) as well as the 1.1.3 version included in the Debian sarge distribution; thus it is unlikely, that it is a OpenOffice problem - especially since it works as expected 'under' GNOME and KDE. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what the origin of the problem is or how to avoid or fix it. Any help or fix is welcome. Thanks for the good work and with best regards, Ruediger Oberhage --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: wmaker Source-Version: 0.95.0+20111028-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of wmaker, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: libwings-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwings-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwings2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwings2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwraster3-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwraster3-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwraster3_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwraster3_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwutil2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwutil2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker-common_0.95.0+20111028-1_all.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker-common_0.95.0+20111028-1_all.deb wmaker-dbg_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker-dbg_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.debian.tar.gz to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.debian.tar.gz wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.dsc to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.dsc wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker_0.95.0+20111028.orig.tar.gz to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. All of these suddenly appeared about a year ago (I think with 91.0). The problems are not architecture-specific since they occur in exactly the same way on my pentium machine. Wiping the complete configuration (rm -r ~/GNUstep) did not make a change either. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=de_DE@euro, LC_CTYPE=de_DE@euro (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages wmaker depends on: ii cpp 4:4.0.2-2 The GNU C preprocessor (cpp) ii debianutils 2.15.3 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.3.6-3GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfontconfig12.3.2-1.1 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.1.10-1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libwraster3 0.92.0-5.2 Shared libraries of Window Maker r ii libx11-6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxft2 2.1.8.2-3 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxinerama1 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System multi-head display ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0.2-1X Rendering Extension client libra ii zlib1g1:1.2.3-11 compression library - runtime wmaker recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: wmaker Source-Version: 0.95.0+20111028-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of wmaker, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: libwings-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwings-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwings2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwings2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwraster3-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwraster3-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwraster3_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwraster3_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwutil2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwutil2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker-common_0.95.0+20111028-1_all.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker-common_0.95.0+20111028-1_all.deb wmaker-dbg_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker-dbg_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.debian.tar.gz to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.debian.tar.gz wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.dsc to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.dsc wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker_0.95.0+20111028.orig.tar.gz to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Inkscape does not always dump information regarding this problem, up to now, I only get this warning while trying to open a new file: (inkscape:13614): Gtk-WARNING **: Could not find the icon 'gnome-fs-home'. The 'hicolor' theme was not found either, perhaps you need to install it. You can get a copy from: http://freedesktop.org/Software/icon-theme/releases I think this might indicate some unfulfilled dependency. Also, after this problem has ocurred, if I click the 'close' button on the Inkscape window, it does not respond anymore. There must also be some resource leak, as I just checked memory usage and (after some 10 such events I have had) the X binary is hogging up 383MB RAM (only 38M shared). Copying the /etc/X11/WindowMaker/plmenu file (and none other, there are translations also for other languages) fixes this, but the user will not be able to see changes made in the menu system (since his config file will not be modified) Regards Javi --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: wmaker Source-Version: 0.95.0+20111028-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of wmaker, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: libwings-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwings-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwings2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwings2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwraster3-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwraster3-dev_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwraster3_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwraster3_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb libwutil2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/libwutil2_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker-common_0.95.0+20111028-1_all.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker-common_0.95.0+20111028-1_all.deb wmaker-dbg_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker-dbg_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.debian.tar.gz to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.debian.tar.gz wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.dsc to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1.dsc wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028-1_i386.deb wmaker_0.95.0+20111028.orig.tar.gz to main/w/wmaker/wmaker_0.95.0+20111028.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Doesn't matter what the window is... it seems to be anything at all. Verify that the window is indeed sunken. Now, try to exit or restart WindowMaker. Instant sig11. If autosave of session files is turned off, nothing happens. If you save the session file manually, from the menu, nothing happens. Only when WindowMaker tries to autosave it does the fault occur. This is NOT related to the NFS bug others seem to be experiencing. Session files here are not being saved to a NFS volume. It is frequent when switching workspaces, and very annoying: focus is not where it seems to be, and window contents are polluted by underlying windows. Luckily, a patch for this has already been posted to the WindowMaker list: http://lists.windowmaker.info/dev/msg00045.html I tried the patch with the currently packaged version of wmaker, and it solved my problem. I understand from the patch comments that this is a workaround, but from a user's point of view, it is an excellent solution, so I think it would be good to have it in the released package. FWIW the system is an old and slow laptop, so I use a 16bpp display (and wmaker of course) to speed things up a bit. From xdpyinfo I see that Composite is present (default in current Xorg I guess), though I have no idea if it's really enabled or useful (old ATI Rage mobility chipset), but it seems to trigger the problem (it showed up with the upgrade from etch to lenny, and with etch the Composite option was probably not enabled). Bug#654524: wmaker FTBFS on all architectures when building only arch packages
Source: wmaker Severity: serious Version: 0.95.0+20111028-1 thanks FTBFS on this line in debian/rules: # Fix perms for /usr/share/WindowMaker/*sh chmod +x debian/wmaker-common/usr/share/WindowMaker/autostart.sh chmod: cannot access `debian/wmaker-common/usr/share/WindowMaker/autostart.sh': No such file or directory wmaker-common is an architecture-independent package, so autostart.sh is never installed to debian/wmaker-common/usr/share/WindowMaker since the buildd don't rebuild indep packages (dh_install was only called with the -a flag, not the -i flag that would be needed to install autostart.sh) Possible fix: have debian/rules check if the debian/wmaker-common directory exists before trying to change the permissions of those two scripts. Rodolfo, you can put a fixed package up on mentors. This is particularly noticeable for "cddb read" commands. cddbcmd cddb read rock 89081e0b where the first few lines look like this: # xmcd CD database file # # Track frame offsets: I have a fix below which solves this problem, but there may be a reason for the slightly odd code where the check for CR-LF doesn't start until buf[4]. In the case where I have had problems, the second line looks like "#\r\n". It is only 3 characters long. Since the check starts after the end of the string, '\0' may not be found until after the end of the buffer. Unfortunately, there may be reason for starting the check at character 4, but it isn't explained in the source code. My suggested change starts the check at character 0, so every line has CR-LF deleted. Here's a patch which fixes the problem. --- cddbcmd.c~ 2003-12-14 12:36:02.0 -0800 +++ cddbcmd.c 2003-12-14 13:15:44.0 -0800 @@ -930,7 +930,7 @@ break; /* Eat CR-LF */ - for (p = buf + 4; *p != '\0'; p++) { + for (p = buf; *p != '\0'; p++) { if (*p == '\r') { *p = '\0'; break; -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux nereocystis 2.4.21 #1 Wed Sep 17 12:11:03 PDT 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages cddb depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Version: 2.6-24+rm Hi, xmcd has been removed from unstable. When started, pressing 'p' toggles play/pause, 'j' ejects, and so on, as in the manual. If I move around the virtual desktop using the mouse, there's no problem; the keyboard accelerators continue to work. However, if I use a keystroke[1] to move around the virtual desktop, the accelerators usually no longer have any effect, though tab, arrows and space can still be used to operate the UI. [1] I have this bound in fvwm to Alt+ keys, though I find I have to use Meta+ instead (in my setup, Meta is mod1, and is on the key labelled "Alt"; Alt is mod4 and is on the "w*nd*ws" key - only Emacs seems to DTRT in this configuration). Occasionally (but not repeatably, sigh) I've managed to get the functionality to reappear. I can usually do this by minimising it with the window manager and bringing it back again, but we're getting into non-determinate behaviour here. IOW, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. And sometimes it only works for one keystroke and then stops working. I'm baffled. I think this may actually be a Lesstif bug, or a fvwm one, but I'm reporting it here because this is where I've seen it.
