As of commit f5bbc322 (so in particular in Debian version
1:1.5.4.3-1), git pre-commit hooks do not get stdin. I have worked around
this by reading from /dev/tty. I'm not 100% this has no other issues,
but it works for me (TM).

Maybe this is really a git bug, but I attach a workaround patch for metastore.

Apparently, the command's ‘-f’ option's argument isn't handled
properly:

tpm_unsealdata changes the data on output to stdout. For no particular

Bug#596535: Removed package(s) from unstable

2010-09-12 Thread Debian Archive Maintenance
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

dict-easton | 1.5A-2 | all
dict-hitchcock | 1.5A-2 | all
 dict-misc | 1.5A-2 | source

--- Reason ---
RoQA; orphaned, unused
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Package: finger-ldap
Version: 1.3-1

The libnss-ldap.conf configuration file can contain multiple nss_base_passwd
options - finger-ldap
however only reads the last one.

Example config file:

base dc=example,dc=com
binddn cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com
rootbinddn cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com
idle_timelimit 3600
pam_login_attribute uid
pam_check_host_attr no
pam_password exop
nss_base_passwd ou=systemusers,dc=example,dc=com?one
nss_base_passwd ou=users,dc=example,dc=com?one
nss_base_shadow ou=systemusers,dc=example,dc=com?one
nss_base_shadow ou=users,dc=example,dc=com?one
nss_base_group ou=groups,dc=example,dc=com?one

In this case, finger-ldap only uses ou=users,dc=example,dc=com.

This feature is documented in the nss_ldap(5) manpage that ships with package
libnss-ldap/251-1:

nss_base_
Specify the search base, scope and filter to be used for specific
maps. (Note that map
forms part of the configuration file keyword and is one of passwd, shadow,
group, hosts, services,
networks, protocols, rpc, ethers, netmasks, bootparams, aliases and netgroup.)
The syntax of basedn
and scope are the same as for the configuration file options of the same name,
with the addition
of being able to omit the trailing suffix of the base DN (in which case
the global base DN
will be appended instead). The filter is a search filter to be added to the
default search filter
for a specific map, such that the effective filter is the logical intersection
of the two. The base
DN, scope and filter are separated with literal question marks (?) as given
above; this is for
compatibility with the DUA configuration profile schema and the ldapprofile
tool. This option may be
specified multiple times.

I am using finger-ldap/1.1-2 (stable), but the code indicates that the problem
also exists in
finger-ldap/1.3-1 (testing/unstable).

Cheers,

Patrick

Hello,

To make uwm/ude a selectable option in gdm and kdm (though for the moment
kdm provides its own file), uwm should
ship /usr/share/xsessions/uwm.desktop (or perhaps ude.desktop).
These .desktop files take 2 minutes to create. Examples of the contents of
such files can be found in the blackbox, afterstep, and wmaker packages.

The "open window" statement fails. This bug report reopens #496962, which is
probably archived. The open window statement causes the yabasic interpreter
to crash. This problem still occurs on 32 bit IBM compatible computers using
i486 compatible processors. The bug is still exhibited in stable, testing, and
unstable.

When starting up xclock with negative offsets to the geometry option, e.g.

xclock -geometry 120x240+-10+-10

xclock opens the window in the center of the display rather than offset left
and up
by 10 (pixels). This format for the geometry value might easily be output from
a xwininfo execution.

The X man page states for +XOFF:

XOFF may be negative, in which case the window's left edge will be off the
screen.

And similarly for YOFF.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed

I am (at least for another 8 or so hours) in Daylight Savings Time for my
timezone. I have wmtz configured to look at my current timezone as well as
others in the United States. The display is showing standard time (ie: EST
instead of EDT). Other programs on the system are accurately identifying
the current zone as EDT. It is displaying the proper time, however.

Package: pcopy
Version: 1.5-1

I used pcopy to copy two partitions from a 60GB hard drive to a 120GB
hard drive. One was the 7GB system partition. The other was a 48GB /home
partition. I pcopied the first to a 10GB partition, and the second to a
100GB partition. Two things happened:

1. The space used and free reported (on the 120GB drive) of both copied
partitions was wrong. They reported the same amount of space used and
free on both drives:
	a. The 10GB partition was showing the same amount of disk space used
*and free* as the 7GB original; it should have been showing 3GB more
space free.
	b. The 100GB partition was also showing the same figures as the 48GB
original partition. Instead of showing 56GB free, it was showing only
2.5GB free (the amount free on the original partition).

2. After using the system for a few hours, it suddenly started reporting
the pcopied system partition as read-only. After I shutdown and
restarted, the boot process reported errors with the system partition
(mostly about files it couldn't fine). It left me at a command prompt
reading "(initramfs)". I rebooted the system using two different recent
live Linux CDs that fully support ext3 filesystems, and both times fsck
reported that it was incompatible with the ext3 journal version on the
system partition. So I reformatted the partition, used partimage to
restore the original disks system partition to it, restarted, and it
came up fine, reporting the proper amounts of disk space used and free,
and reporting no incompatibilities with the journal version. It has been
working fine for several days now.
I fixed the problem on the second partition by simply copying the data
from the original drive.

I had prepared the 120GB disk by fscking with -c to check for badblocks
and update the badblock list before using pcopy. So there were no
hardware problems with the disk.

pcopy reported no errors during the copying process and didn't crash.

I think pcopy hosed the journal when copying the system partition, and
at least did a number on the directory structure when copying the other
partition.

Thank you for the opportunity to try pcopy. I will stick with partimage
instead for copying partitions.

Package: wmtz
Version: 0.7-8

wmtz has an open bug related to incorrect daylight savings time zone
string changes [See: Bug# #166526]. wmtz doesn't take into account the
zone name changes [e.g: EST to EDT for Eastern Standard to Eastern
Daylight]. This is a bug in code and I'm including a patch below.

One more issue that I've addressed (which IMHO is a useful fix to
avoid too many wakeups) is the sleep interval. wmtz seems to sleep for
1 microseconds (effectively resulting in 100 wakeups per second).
This can quite safely be upped to 10 microseconds, reducing
wakeups to 10 per second (and correspondingly changing the response
latency to a worst case of 0.1s which is quite OK since the only
option is a simple menu click).

This has improved power savings quite a bit as well as my processor
goes remains in the lower C states for far longer.

The patch is roughly [this is a diff of the final files after applying
the debian specific patches as well]

As a package maintainer you got this email directly as well.

Both libreadline-dev (>= 6.0) and libreadline6-dev are now available
in unstable and testing. If possible, please replace the libreadline5-dev
build dependency with libreadline-dev, so that in future changes of the
libreadline soname binNMU's can be used for this kind of update.

Package: pcopy
Version: 1.5-2

Hi!

After having a lot of problems with pcopy I found several bugs in the source
code:

- Missing #include , which brakes strerror(errno) and memset();
therefore you don't get an error message opening non-existent files in line 460
(see below), but instead a segfault (see
http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com/msg1635237.html).

- write_fd = open(dstdev, O_WRONLY+O_SYNC) in line 457 does't create new files,
so I suggest to use something like

if (fstat(read_fd, &read_sb) == -1)
{
fprintf(stderr, ...);
}

write_fd = creat(dstdev, read_sb.st_mode);
if (write_fd < 0)
{
fprintf(stderr, ...);
}

instead.

- The most severe bug (and I guess this leads to #484067) is the
if (write_pos =! pos) [should be of course "!="]
in line 176 when writing the new file.

I fixed these bugs (new source in attachment) and besides that I reformatted
the source code and added some curly brackets in nested if-statements (so the
diff is quite large and not very useful).

Cheers,

Carsten

Hi there,

I admit that this can be stupidity on my side, failing to see what's wrong
here, but I think it also might be a bug...

Look at this log, please:

bash$ perl -e '$a=10518; if ($a =~ /\d+/) {print "yes\n";} else {print "no\n";}'
yes
bash$ psh
psh% $a=10518; if ($a =~ /\d+/) {print "yes\n";} else {print "no\n";}
no
psh%

Any reason why psh doesn't think that $a is composed of digits?

Thanks,
Marcos Marado

Bug#596552: Removed package(s) from unstable

2010-09-12 Thread Debian Archive Maintenance
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

 pcopy | 1.5-2 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, hurd-i386, i386,
ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
RoQA; orphaned, buggy, dead upstream, unused

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 596...@bugs.debian.org.
