Bug#365903: marked as done (madman: Last track is left selected when moving to next track)
Your message dated Fri, 5 Feb 2010 14:40:24 + (WET) with message-id <20100205144024.4fb0a6...@kmos.homeip.net> and subject line Package madman has been removed from Debian has caused the Debian Bug report #365903, regarding madman: Last track is left selected when moving to next track to be marked as done. This is problematic because often you don't realise that they are still selected because they're not in the visible part of the list, so when you're dragging the *current* track into a playlist, you don't realise that other tracks are also being dragged in. Selecting multiple tracks for drag (or any other operation) should be a deliberate action, not an accident! So what I'd like is by default the home button clears any current selection and selects *only* the currently playing track, and perhaps ctrl-click on the home button can keep the current behaviour for those who want it, which would be consistent with normal selection behaviour. By the way does anyone know what the current development status of madman is? It would be a pity if it's all ground to a halt as it's certainly my favourite music manager but could really do with a few niggles ironed out. Sure this is a bug to be forwarded upstream; anyway, here's how it works (not): On S3 based video cards, you can acheive nicer (= higher pixel clock) text modes enabling S3_HSText in SVGATextMode; it's well documented in TextConfig(5) man page (the man page of SVGATextMode's configuration file, search for S3_HSText), that this option requires that (from the same manpage): "the font must be stored in memory in a different format than would normally be used (i.e. the normal font loading programs won't be able to do this). The S3 designers provided a special register for that purpose. This register, when set, will automati cally change the memory access so that the font can be loaded in a normal fashion. This allows normal font load ers to do the job. Due to that special register, font loading will only work when it is executed from within SVGATextMode. This way, SVGATextMode can set this special register before running the font loader, and reset it again afterwards." Shortly, you need to set a register on the video card, mess with fonts and restore that register. That said, every program working with text fonts is likely to fail: setfont is another who fails, but SVGATextMode has a functionality for calling it in the right moment. It seems the fonter author has to contact SVGATextMode author for instructions on how to cope with this, and perhaps SVGATextMode could provide an external utility to enable other text font utilities to work with this type of cards. Of course you can click it many times initially, but then you get repeated selections because it is oblivious to what it just now added to the queue, and the recently played rules are otherwise very good. So I thought it ought to be able to add songs to the playlist whenever it is about to run out, and thus theoretically keep going forever. Here is a patch which does that all the time, better would be to have a checkbox just above the rule customisations in prefs, "add 20 more songs when the last track starts". Probably should be off by default. Or even better, "always keep at least [ 20] songs ahead of the current one (0 for off)" (number configurable) so you can bump things up the queue if you want. I'll add such a thing if I get time, but for now, here is what I'm running, because it works for me. diff -Naur madman-0.93.0-clean/ui/mainwin.cpp madman-0.93.0/ui/mainwin.cpp --- madman-0.93.0-clean/ui/mainwin.cpp 2004-05-20 15:03:14.0 +0100 +++ madman-0.93.0/ui/mainwin.cpp2005-05-20 00:15:56.706493310 +0100 @@ -291,6 +291,8 @@ this, SLOT(songOrStateChanged())); connect(&Preferences.Player, SIGNAL(stateChanged()), this, SLOT(updatePlayerStatus())); + connect(&Preferences.Player, SIGNAL(lastSongStarted()), + &SearchViewManager, SLOT(slotAutoDJ())); realizeSystemTrayIconSettings(); realizeHttpdSettings(); diff -Naur madman-0.93.0-clean/utility/player.cpp madman-0.93.0/utility/player.cpp --- madman-0.93.0-clean/utility/player.cpp 2004-05-20 15:03:13.0 +0100 +++ madman-0.93.0/utility/player.cpp2005-05-19 23:54:59.610666975 +0100 @@ -59,6 +59,7 @@ { connect(Backend.get(), SIGNAL(currentSongChanged()), this, SLOT(slotCurrentSongChanged())); connect(Backend.get(), SIGNAL(stateChanged()), this, SLOT(slotStateChanged())); +connect(Backend.get(), SIGNAL(lastSongStarted()), this, SLOT(slotLastSongStarted())); } } @@ -157,6 +158,10 @@ { emit stateChanged(); } +void tPlayerFacade::slotLastSongStarted() +{ + emit lastSongStarted(); +} diff -Naur madman-0.93.0-clean/utility/player.h madman-0.93.0/utility/player.h --- madman-0.93.0-clean/utility/player.h2004-05-20 15:03:13.0 +0100 +++ madman-0.93.0/utility/player.h 2005-05-19 23:55:16.002465562 +0100 @@ -60,6 +60,7 @@ signals: void currentSongChanged(); void stateChanged(); +void lastSongStarted(); }; @@ -98,6 +99,7 @@ protected slots: void slotCurrentSongChanged(); void slotStateChanged(); +void slotLastSongStarted(); }; diff -Naur madman-0.93.0-clean/utility/player_xmms.cpp madman-0.93.0/utility/player_xmms.cpp --- madman-0.93.0-clean/utility/player_xmms.cpp 2004-05-20 15:03:13.0 +0100 +++ madman-0.93.0/utility/player_xmms.cpp 2005-05-20 00:16:20.905810730 +0100 @@ -237,6 +237,8 @@ { CurrentSongFilename = song_file; emit currentSongChanged(); +if (xmms_remote_get_playlist_pos(Session) == xmms_remote_get_playlist_length(Session) - 1) + emit lastSongStarted(); } } -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-rc1 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages madman depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-13 GCC support library ii libglib1.2 1.2.10-10The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk1.2 1.2.10-17The GIMP Toolkit set of widgets fo ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-6ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libogg0 1.1.2-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.4-3Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libstdc++5 1:3

Bug#305773: marked as done (positron: does case-sensitive searches on Neuros filesystem under some charsets)
Your message dated Fri, 5 Feb 2010 01:17:54 + (WET) with message-id <20100205011754.ab5d111...@kmos.homeip.net> and subject line Package positron has been removed from Debian has caused the Debian Bug report #305773, regarding positron: does case-sensitive searches on Neuros filesystem under some charsets to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 305773: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=305773 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: positron Version: 1:1.1-1 Severity: important I just tried to sync using positron. It gave the following message: # positron sync Synchronizing Neuros music database. AFAICT, when positron looks for the music directory, it does a case-sensitive search. However, the FAT filesystem is case insensitive. Since my Neuros has the directory /music instead of /MUSIC, positron does not find the music directory, even though it is there, and when it attempts to create it, it fails. However, it still has some problems copying some files, even after the change. On my Neuros, I have a directory /music/u2, while positron is trying to create a directory /music/U2, and this is failing... (similar error message as above.) I deleted /music/u2, and now it is recopying that whole tree (although for some reason the directory still gets created as "u2" rather than "U2". So it seems to be working for now, until the next time I do a sync, when it will attempt to create the /music/U2 directory again...
