Hi,

Your package build-depends upon libjack0.100.0-dev, which will
dissappear in an upcoming upload of the Jack Audio Connection Kit.
The correct package to depend upon is libjack-dev. Your package will
not fail to build once the new jack is uploaded, because libjack-dev
Provides libjack0.100.0-dev, and thus you don't need to do an upload
just for this, but we would like to drop the Provides at some point.
If you could change the build-dependency in a following upload, it
would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Debian QA Group,

The file /usr/share/menu/freqtweak reads
?package(freqtweak):\
needs="X11"\
section="Applications/Sound"\
title="Freqtweak"\
command="/usr/bin/freqtweak"\
longtitle="Freqtweak Music Editor"\
icon="freqtweak_logo32x18.xpm"\
hotkey="rg"\
hints="MIDI,Music Editor"\
description="Freqtweak is a Realtime audio processor \
based on frequency spectral manipulation"

The longtitle and the description seems to disagree.
I do not think Freqtweak is a music editor, but an audio processor.

Cheers,

 rhyme |  0.9-6 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, hurd-i386, i386,
ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
RoQA; dead upstream, orphaned for a long time, very low popcon
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 553...@bugs.debian.org.

licq override disparity

2009-12-20 Thread Archive Administrator
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

licq-dev_1.3.6-3_all.deb: package says section is libdevel, override says devel.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and
explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we
won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information.

Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the
following format:

Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority

Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please.

[NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you already filed a bug
and have not received a response yet, please ignore this mail. Your bug
needs to be processed by a human and will be in due course, but until
then the installer will send these automated mails; sorry.]

Hi,

during Ubuntu's rebuild test, licq failed to build with gcc-4.4 [1].
The reason is that the c++ string functions have changed signatures.

Attached is a small patch to fix this problem. The hunks referring
to plugins/msn are still a little bit ugly, as actually a const argument
gets modified (which was also the case before), and the fix in the patch
is to use the const_cast hammer :/.

Cheers,
   Stefan.

Thanks for maintaining Debian's metamail package. I like it and use it.

I noticed that:

$ metamail -h

doesn't work, although:

$ metamail

works reliably.

Interestingly, the "-h" option occasionally printed the email's body. I
don't know why, but it happened for a few minutes after I tried to get a
verbose debugging trace with:

$ export MM_DEBUG=1

Then the "-h" stopped working as mysteriously as it started, even when
I tried it in another xterm and after doing:

$ unset MM_DEBUG

For what it's worth, the email's attachment never printed.

Thanks,
Kingsley

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
amd64.

In eglibc <= 2.9, getline was only defined if _GNU_SOURCE was defined.
In eglibc 2.10, getline is always defined (since it became a standard in
POSIX2008). The problem is that your package already has a function
named getline(), which now conflicts with glibc's. You need to rename
your function to something else.
Ubuntu already fixed many occurences of your problem, so it is possible
that an Ubuntu patch is available for your package. Look at the PTS to
find out.

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot. Internet was not

The 'uuenpipe' helper script fails to correctly escape filenames, such
that filenames with spaces (and perhaps other metacharacters) in them
break. As users of graphical user environments, who are largely
unfamiliar with shells, are increasingly using such filenames in
email, I believe this is a case which should not be neglected.

I propose modifying the script as follows:

BASENAME=`basename "${1-UUPIPEOUT}"`
cat "${1--}" | uuencode "$BASENAME"

The uudepipe needs a similar modification to the $1 parameter.

This seems a separate issue than #237826, although it might be related

When I try to run metamail -g on a test file, I get:

Strangely enough, the version I build locally for debugging works
perfectly.

(Also metamail 2.5.71 on Ubuntu LTS)

metamail -w is supposed to write parts to files but acts exactly as
metamail
In a terminal

run metamail -w mailmessage

where mailmessage has mime parts such as pdf or html.
metamail will ask to launch evince or browser instead of
asking to write the part to a file.

The man page says that -w ignores mailcap, but this is not the case.

Hi!

I hope that the MIME type supplied to metasend will always
come from a trusted source:

jbg...@lnxp-1008:~$ metasend -b -s "Some subject" -o    \
-F "jbg...@lug-owl.de"  \
-m 'foo/bar; name="xxx echo you are dead"'  \
-e quoted-printable -f /dev/null\
-t "jbg...@lug-owl.de"
you are dead
jbg...@lnxp-1008:~$

This is due the use of `eval', which is a typo and should be spelled
like `evil' ...

MfG, JBG

I'm using metamail -w to save parts of an email message.
A filename is provided that uses no special characters, but it is
nevertheless encoded, so that metamail offers this as the default
file:

=?ISO-8859-1?B?RE9DMDgwOTA5LnBkZg==?=

Metamail should do the base64 decoding or whatever it is and offer a
more reasonable default filename. I'm happy for it to stick with
7-bit ASCII plus question marks even; anything's better than the
above.

Hello maintainer,

While performing an archive wide checkbashisms (from the 'devscripts' package)
check I've found your package containing a /bin/sh script making
use of a bashism.

checkbashisms' output:
> possible bashism in ./usr/bin/extcompose line 31 (echo with backslash
> escapes):
> echo -n "Please enter a number from 1 to 5: \c"

Not using bash (or a Debian Policy conformant shell interpreter which does
provide such an extra feature) as /bin/sh is likely to lead to errors or
unexpected behaviours.

For more information please refer to the Debian Policy section 10.4 supporting
this argument at:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-scripts

Hints about how to fix bashisms:
Sometimes these bugs are already fixed in Ubuntu, look at the PTS.
If not already fixed you can read:
