This is caused by the while condition for the getopt call on line 467 of iptotal.c in read_options(). When compiling, a warning about comparison always being true is reported. By changing the "char optchar" to "signed char optchar", the compiler warning is removed, and the application functions as expected. I assume this is because the arm compiler used with this system makes char unsigned by default. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: arm (armv5tel) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-5-ixp4xx Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages iptotal depends on: ii apache2-mpm-prefork [h 2.2.3-4+etch1 Traditional model for Apache HTTPD ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libpcap0.7 0.7.2-7 System interface for user-level pa ii rrdtool1.2.15-0.3Time-series data storage and displ ii tcpdump3.9.5-2etch1 A powerful tool for network monito iptotal recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: iptotal Source-Version: 0.3.3-8 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of iptotal, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: iptotal_0.3.3-8.diff.gz to pool/main/i/iptotal/iptotal_0.3.3-8.diff.gz iptotal_0.3.3-8.dsc to pool/main/i/iptotal/iptotal_0.3.3-8.dsc iptotal_0.3.3-8_amd64.deb to pool/main/i/iptotal/iptotal_0.3.3-8_amd64.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. This should at the very least be consistant. Technically, they are both wrong. The following are all correct according to normal SI rules: * kilobytes * kbytes * kB But, "kBytes" would be fine too, because: 1) It matches the generated CHARTS which use "kByte". 2) It uses the correct SI prefix symbol for kilo: lowercase 'k'. 3) The symbol for bytes is 'B', thus kBytes is understandable enough. Anyway, the bottom line is, please fix this to be CONSISTANT. It would be an added bonus if it was also CORRECT. =) -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages iptotal depends on: ii apache2-mpm-worker [httpd] 2.0.54-5 high speed threaded model for Apac ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libpcap0.7 0.7.2-7 System interface for user-level pa ii rrdtool1.0.49-1 Time-series data storage and displ ii tcpdump3.8.3-5sarge1 A powerful tool for network monito -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: iptotal Source-Version: 0.3.3-8 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of iptotal, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: iptotal_0.3.3-8.diff.gz to pool/main/i/iptotal/iptotal_0.3.3-8.diff.gz iptotal_0.3.3-8.dsc to pool/main/i/iptotal/iptotal_0.3.3-8.dsc iptotal_0.3.3-8_amd64.deb to pool/main/i/iptotal/iptotal_0.3.3-8_amd64.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. As Thomas Dickey had already pointed out, this has been fixed in the meantime, "ncurses5-config --cflags" only prints an empty line currently. > ncurses5-config should be shipped by libncurses5-dev and not > ncurses5-bin and it should give the correct information. I agree that ncurses5-config should be in libncurses5-dev. As long as it is in ncurses-bin, at least the output of "ncurses5-config --version" is not guaranteed to be correct. Although I'm > not sure how other architectures seem to get away with this? Apparently because their loader is lazy; the symbol lookup error only occurs then only if you use a high debug level in tic (option -v2 or higher). See #365120. > Help in > resolving this would be very much appreciated, even if it turns out not to > be a bug in the ncurses packaging. Thanks. It definitely is a bug in the packaging, but I'm not sure how to best resolve it. My favorite solution would be to build the regular libraries without -DNDEBUG and use detached debugging symbols instead of extra libraries in the -dbg packages. However, this is a rather radical change. Minimally obtrusive might be this patch: --8<---cut here---start->8--- diff --git a/debian/rules b/debian/rules index e7712a6..04c1c13 100755 --- a/debian/rules +++ b/debian/rules @@ -285,7 +285,7 @@ endif mkdir -p $(tempdir)/etc # Install into our base directory - GZIP='-9' $(MAKE) -C $(objdir-debug) install + $(MAKE) -C $(objdir-debug) install.libs $(MAKE) -C $(wobjdir-debug) install.libs # Copy libraries to the debug directory @@ -298,7 +298,7 @@ endif done # Install non -DTRACE versions. - $(MAKE) -C $(objdir) install.libs + GZIP='-9' $(MAKE) -C $(objdir) install $(MAKE) -C $(wobjdir) install.libs # Move terminfo files to the right place. --8<---cut here---end--->8--- This solves the problem of the symbol lookup error, but makes it harder to debug the programs in ncurses-bin, because they are built with -DNEDUG and without -DTRACE. Bug#544178: cite completion may cause loss changes since last write
Package: vim-latexsuite Version: 20060325-5 Severity: grave While \cite{ works like a charm now, using [] on the citation is a good way to lose everything since the last :write. Maybe this is due to natbib, which uses [] on \cite commands, I don't know if plain texlive does that too. \citep[p. 123]{Rogers this will cause three buffers to be opened in the window, one of another .tex file in the same project, then the [Quickfix List] and finally a preview of the same .tex file that was opened in the first buffer. Curiously, this behaviour is different if the file was just :written before was called. Then, obviously, no data is list, and the file I was editing is the one shown on both sides of the [Quickfix List]. The original buffer of the file one was editing is still available, but has been reverted to the last write. This can hurt. Those comments were not originally meant to be machine readable, so if the reason for removing your package seems to be nonsense, it is probably the reporting script that got confused. This function void TestApplication::init_labels(Soft_Label_Key_Set& S) const { for(int i=1; i <= S.labels(); i++) { char buf[5]; ::sprintf(buf,"Key%02d",i); S[i] = buf; // Text S[i] = Soft_Label_Key_Set::Soft_Label_Key::Left; // Justification } } is raising an exception in the [] operator for S, which claims that the index i is zero.
