Version: 0.3.3-6
Severity: important

The iptotal package installed on my NSLU2 ARM does not function correctly - The
iptotal application exits immediately after being started.

This is caused by the while condition for the getopt call on line 467 of
iptotal.c in read_options().
When compiling, a warning about comparison always being true is reported.
By changing the "char optchar" to "signed char optchar", the compiler warning
is removed, and the application functions as expected.

I assume this is because the arm compiler used with this system makes char
unsigned by default.

Package: iptotal
Version: 0.3.3-6
Severity: minor

iptotal prints things like this:

Total: 12.48 kBytes/s In: 12.48 Kbytes/s Out: 0.00 Kbytes/s

Notice some places it's "kBytes", others it's "Kbytes". This should at
the very least be consistant.

Technically, they are both wrong. The following are all correct
according to normal SI rules:
  * kilobytes
  * kbytes
  * kB

But, "kBytes" would be fine too, because:
  1) It matches the generated CHARTS which use "kByte".
  2) It uses the correct SI prefix symbol for kilo: lowercase 'k'.
  3) The symbol for bytes is 'B', thus kBytes is understandable enough.

Anyway, the bottom line is, please fix this to be CONSISTANT. It would
be an added bonus if it was also CORRECT. =)

Package: iptotal
Version: 0.3.3-7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi

After upgrading from etch to lenny the iptotal web page does not show traffic
graphs anymore. The reason is a wrong image path in the generated HTML code:

This wrong path is probably caused by rrdtool bug #497739. Maybe you can
find a workaround for that bug in iptotal. If not please port back the
rrdtool fix to lenny (which probably is the better solution anyway).

Thanks

Uwe

The manpage should mention the actual configuration file.
The same problem applies to 'man iptotal_config' as well.

As Thomas Dickey had already pointed out, this has been fixed in the
meantime, "ncurses5-config --cflags" only prints an empty line
currently.

I agree that ncurses5-config should be in libncurses5-dev. As long as
it is in ncurses-bin, at least the output of "ncurses5-config --version"
is not guaranteed to be correct.

Apparently because their loader is lazy; the symbol lookup error only
occurs then only if you use a high debug level in tic (option -v2 or
higher).  See #365120.

It definitely is a bug in the packaging, but I'm not sure how to best
resolve it. My favorite solution would be to build the regular
libraries without -DNDEBUG and use detached debugging symbols instead of
extra libraries in the -dbg packages. However, this is a rather radical
change. Minimally obtrusive might be this patch:

--8<---cut here---start->8---

This solves the problem of the symbol lookup error, but makes it harder
to debug the programs in ncurses-bin, because they are built with -DNEDUG
and without -DTRACE.

Bug#544178: cite completion may cause loss changes since last write

2009-08-29 Thread martin f krafft
Package: vim-latexsuite
Version: 20060325-5
Severity: grave

While \cite{ works like a charm now, using [] on the citation
is a good way to lose everything since the last :write. Maybe this
is due to natbib, which uses [] on \cite commands, I don't know if
plain texlive does that too.

  \citep[p. 123]{Rogers

this will cause three buffers to be opened in the window, one of
another .tex file in the same project, then the [Quickfix List] and
finally a preview of the same .tex file that was opened in the first
buffer.

Curiously, this behaviour is different if the file was just :written
before was called. Then, obviously, no data is list, and the
file I was editing is the one shown on both sides of the [Quickfix
List].

The original buffer of the file one was editing is still available,
but has been reverted to the last write. This can hurt.

  Previous version: 0.85.9-5

The script that generates this mail tries to extract removal
reasons from comments in the britney hint files. Those comments
were not originally meant to be machine readable, so if the
reason for removing your package seems to be nonsense, it is
probably the reporting script that got confused. Please check the

Retesting ncurses c++ demo, I get an exception in code which hasn't
changed for several months and which has no apparent error (checked
with valgrind).  This function

void TestApplication::init_labels(Soft_Label_Key_Set& S) const
{
  for(int i=1; i <= S.labels(); i++) {
char buf[5];
::sprintf(buf,"Key%02d",i);
S[i] = buf;  // Text
S[i] = Soft_Label_Key_Set::Soft_Label_Key::Left; // Justification
  }
}

is raising an exception in the [] operator for S, which claims that
the index i is zero. So it dies on the "Text" line. The buf variable
contains "Key01", so the index was correct on the previous line.
valgrind can only tell me that the program raised an exception -
which is not the cause of the problem in this case. Here's what
gdb shows me:

(gdb) break demo.cc:504
Breakpoint 1 at 0x804b724: file ../c++/demo.cc, line 504.
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/build/ncurses/ncurses-5.5-20060114/c++/demo

(gdb) print i
$1 = 1
(gdb) next
505 S[i] = buf;  // Text
(gdb) print i
$2 = 0
(gdb)

I checked this against ncurses 5.5, just in case there was some
recent change of mine that I should debug - it has the same
problem.

There are a few glitches related to color and keytab handling:

 * If using konsole-16color, ANSI color light-red is misrendered as color

After latest upgrade of ncurses-base, it seems that nothing that usually
used KP1 (ie. number 1 key in numpad in application mode) works anymore
as it used to do.

As most of the applications, for example tinyfugue, haven't been updated
lately, this seems to be a termcap problem.

Package: libncurses5
Version: 5.3.20030510-2
Severity: normal

I have a screen session with irssi, giFTcurs, and pork running.

Whenever I restore pork either by screen -r or paging to it from
another terminal in the screen, its characters are totally garbled and
one or two ^L's will fix it. And this happens with giFTcurs too.

This is getting kind of annoying and other people have experienced this
too. If you can't reproduce it I will send screenshots :)

Package: libncurses5-dev
Version: 5.0-6.0potato1
Severity: normal

there seem to be several manpages where the "Name" (in the manpage) don't match
the filename.

for example, the manpage for menu_new(3menu) has a "Name" of "mitem_new -
create and destroy menu items"

the new(3menu) page has a Name of "menu_new - create and destroy menus"

this makes it very difficult to find the manpages for ncurses functions
