thttpd override disparity
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the override file for the following file(s): thttpd_2.25b-8_i386.deb: package says section is web, override says httpd. Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell, httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video, xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package at the next upload. Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information. Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the following format: Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please. Since the process-numbers in the first column of "ps ax" are right-aligned, this command often doesn't find the process-number. This results in wrongly reporting that thttpd is not running, and so starting/stopping/restarting/etc. sometimes does not work. Additionally, in combination with logrotate, thttpd is not restarted after logfile-rotation, which causes thttpd to write its logs to a deleted file. It doesn anymore, unless you add the name of the symlinks to cgi-bin/redirect to cgipat. It appears the way symlinks are followed has changed. It used to be that it was sufficient to have the redirect script in the cgi-bin directory and have the cgi-bin as a cgipat. In Redhat the pam_console module is used for this, but it has a few race conditions. In Ubuntu the pam_foreground module is used for this. It do not have the race problems, and seem like a better implementation of the same idea. Getting hal/dbus to properly handle at_console access checks was requried for Debian Edu, and we implemented this by installing the libpam-foreground package and modifying /etc/pam.d/common-session to make it an optional module. The result should look like this: session optionalpam_foreground.so session requiredpam_unix.so The change from the current default is the extra pam_foreground.so line. Please make this the default configuration for pam. If the libpam-foreground is missing, the pam config will still work, and the only negative effect will be that the at_console access check isn't working. Happy hacking, -- Petter Reinholdtsen --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- [Steve Langasek] > libpam-runtime has implemented the described framework, so there's > nothing more to be changed in pam for this bug. libpam-foreground > can be modified to hook into this framework, but I'm not sure that's > still needed - libpam-foreground is orphaned, and is not the > preferred mechanism for hooking into hal/dbus anymore, having been > superseded (AFAIK) by libpam-ck-connector. I agree that it is no longer needed, and close it. Happy hacking, -- Petter Reinholdtsen --- End Message ---
