Package: libuniconf4.6
Version: 4.6-1
Severity: minor

dist-upgrading causes a little error during installation of libuniconf4.6 that
tries to overwrite a file in libuniconf4.4.
I have solved this problem removing wvdial and libuniconf4.4, then reinstalling
wvdial.

Bug#543602: Numerous regressions due to accidental removal of patches

2009-08-25 Thread Ben Hutchings
Package: thttpd
Version: 2.25b-6
Severity: serious

Version 2.25b-5 of thttpd changed debian/rules such that the patches
in debian/patches are no longer applied. As a result the following
bugs have (re)appeared:

- the binaries in thttpd-util are built statically linked
- syslogtocern creates temporary files with predictable names
- CGI scripts cannot set both Location and Status header fields
  (#421750)
- CGI scripts receive an invalid PATH_INFO (#164306, #509789)
- CGI URL pattern seems to be wrong (#485003)

thttpd override disparity

2009-08-25 Thread Archive Administrator
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

thttpd_2.25b-8_i386.deb: package says section is web, override says httpd.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and
explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we
won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information.

Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the
following format:

Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority

Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please.

[NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you already filed a bug
and have not received a response yet, please ignore this mail. Your bug
needs to be processed by a human and will be in due course, but until
then the installer will send these automated mails; sorry.]

The attached patch changes the precedence of the heuristic that a
"Location:" header always produces a 302 HTTP status, and allows an
explicit CGI "Status: 301" to override it. This fixes the problem that
it is presently impossible to serve 301 redirects with thttpd.

(Sorry if the MIME type of the attached patch is screwy; I'm using a
webmail provider who has had issues with this in the past.)

Package: thttpd
Version: 2.23beta1-5
Severity: important

The grep-commands in 'ps ax | grep -q "^$PID"' in /etc/init.d/thttpd is
wrong. Since the process-numbers in the first column of "ps ax" are
right-aligned, this command often doesn't find the process-number.

This results in wrongly reporting that thttpd is not running, and
so starting/stopping/restarting/etc. sometimes does not work.
Additionally, in combination with logrotate, thttpd is not restarted
after logfile-rotation, which causes thttpd to write its logs to a
deleted file.

Solution:
The problem can be solved by replacing the above grep-command each
time it appears in /etc/init.d/thttpd by:
'ps ax | grep -q "^ *$PID"'

Package: thttpd
Severity: normal

Some cgi-bin programs (like dwww) have paths passed to themselves by being
called with the form /cgi-bin/cgi-prog/path/to/pass where /cgi-bin/cgi-prog is
the actual cgi-bin and /path/to/pass is an additional path to pass. With
thttpd this does not work and thttpd reports that the files is outside ther
permitted web server directory, probably because there is no file
/cgi-bin/cgi-prog/path/to/pass.

Package: thttpd
Version: 2.25b-2
Severity: important

Hi,

I have /etc/rc2.d/S20thttpd removed from my system to prevent startup of
thttpd upon system boot. Today's update failed with the following error:

Stopping web server: invoke-rc.d: initscript thttpd, action "stop" failed.
dpkg: warning - old pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ...
Stopping web server: invoke-rc.d: initscript thttpd, action "stop" failed.
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/thttpd_2.25b-3_i386.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/thttpd_2.25b-3_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

This error is triggered because "/etc/init.d/thttpd stop" returns 1 when
thttpd is not running:

# /etc/init.d/thttpd stop
Stopping web server: # echo $?
1

I've been able to reproduce this on another sid installation as well,
and can be reproduced by re-installing the current version.

Cheers,

Wolf

When using httpd together with cvsweb, I discovered that thttpd
specifies an illegal PATH_INFO variable to CGI scripts. There
doesn't seem to be a PATH_INFO specified at all or the last
/ seems to be stripped from the PATH_INFO.

Package: thttpd
Version: 2.23beta1-5
Severity: important

The /etc/init.d/thttpd init script incorrectly anchors the regex when
searching for PIDs to terminate. The supplied pattern is:

^$PID

But this does not take into account leading spaces output by the pretty-print
output of `ps ax`. The pattern should include some way of accepting leading
whitespace, such as:

^ *$PID

redirect used to work. It doesn anymore, unless you add the name of the
symlinks to cgi-bin/redirect to cgipat. It appears the way symlinks are
followed has changed. It used to be that it was sufficient to have the
redirect script in the cgi-bin directory and have the cgi-bin as a cgipat. Now
you have specifiy the link that is to be redirected in cgipat as well.

Package: libpam-runtime
Version: 0.79-4

For hal/dbus to know if the request for action is coming from a user
on the console (aka in front of the machine), a method to discover
this is required. In Redhat the pam_console module is used for this,
but it has a few race conditions. In Ubuntu the pam_foreground module
is used for this. It do not have the race problems, and seem like a
better implementation of the same idea.

Getting hal/dbus to properly handle at_console access checks was
requried for Debian Edu, and we implemented this by installing the
libpam-foreground package and modifying /etc/pam.d/common-session to
make it an optional module. The result should look like this:

  session optionalpam_foreground.so
  session requiredpam_unix.so

The change from the current default is the extra pam_foreground.so
line. Please make this the default configuration for pam. If the
libpam-foreground is missing, the pam config will still work, and the
only negative effect will be that the at_console access check isn't
working.

Happy hacking,

I agree that it is no longer needed, and close it.
