Bug#377867: fixed

2009-08-06 Thread Debian Archive Maintenance
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

ld.so.preload-manager |0.3.3-3 | source, all

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 377...@bugs.debian.org.

Bug#540236: gcal: "Sm8" instead of "Smaug" in LOTR calendar

2009-08-06 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: gcal
Version: 3.01.1-9
Severity: minor

Hi, fellows of the Quest!

I found that the file ``/usr/share/gcal/lotr`` contains the following line::

  1205 Death of Sm8 (LOTR)

I can't really recall any character i Tolkien's books called Sm8. Oh wait,
August (aug) is the eighth month of the year. Maybe the problem is in that
``/usr/share/gcal/scripts/ct2gcal.pl`` script which generated the previous
file. I'm not trained in the lore of Perl runes, so I'm afraid I can not offer
a solution to this problem, but I guess that when the solution is in place, the
line should read::

  1205 Death of Smaug (LOTR)

Fare well! :)

Severity: important

On a modern X11 setup with TrueColor/DirectColor displays, xapple2 refuses
to start, giving the following error:

$ xapple2
Sorry bud, xapple2 only supports 8bit PseudoColor displays.
Maybe you can fix this!

This renders the package all but unusable without severe reconfiguration of
the X display. (And if there is a viable way of running this under Xephyr,
I haven't been able to find it.)

Please add more docs and example code to the package. This is
important since there is a lot to be done wrong with the script and it
modifies things in a very important location.

Bug#538614: marked as done (gtm: FTBFS with new source format 3.0 (quilt): improper handling of config.sub/config.guess)

Package: gtm
Version: 0.4.12+cvs20031024-4
Severity: wishlist
Usertags: 3.0-quilt-by-default

To prepare a possible switch to the new source package format "3.0
(quilt)" [1], I converted all source packages and rebuilt the packages
afterwards to see what breaks, and gtm does break. To reproduce the
problem you can do this:
$ apt-get source gtm
$ mkdir -p gtm-0.4.12+cvs20031024/debian/source
$ echo "3.0 (quilt)" >gtm-0.4.12+cvs20031024/debian/source/format
$ dpkg-source -b gtm-0.4.12+cvs20031024
$ dpkg-source -x gtm_0.4.12+cvs20031024-4.dsc
$ cd gtm-0.4.12+cvs20031024 && debuild -us -uc

In this process, if the .diff.gz contains changes to upstream files,
dpkg-source will have created a corresponding patch in
debian/patches/debian-changes-0.4.12+cvs20031024-4 and will have registered that
patch in a quilt series (debian/patches/series, it is created if needed).
All the patches listed in the "series" file are applied directly during
the extraction (dpkg-source -x). quilt itself is used if available (and
will thus lead to the creation of the .pc directory), otherwise
dpkg-source applies the patches by itself. For more information about the
new source package format see the manual page dpkg-source(1).

In the case of gtm, it doesn't properly handle config.sub
and config.guess. The .diff.gz contains changes to those files
when it shouldn't (and this later leads to a quilt patch that can't be
applied/unapplied).

If you auto-update those files, you should do it just before configure and you
should remove them in the clean rules (or put back in place a copy of the
original files that you replaced). See
/usr/share/doc/autotools-dev/README.Debian.gz for some details.

Cheers,

Package: python-wxgtk2.8
Version: 2.8.7.1-1.1
Severity: normal

I noticed in both wxGlade and GNUmed the following behaviour:

Most of the time the application window (and the stderr redirect window)
open up in random positions/sizes/workspaces on KDE.

GNUmed tries to set its size upon startup to a value read from the
database. This sometimes works but mostly not. Not sure how wxGlade
handles setting the size at startup.

Resizing the apps works but it's quite a nuisance for users.

It used to work just fine until just a couple of days ago (say, 10 ?). I
just noticed it with wxGlade today for the first time. I previously
thought it was just a glitch of GNUmed but it now appears to become a
pattern with wxPython based GUIs. poedit seems to work so far, however.

Using the logging facility from wxwindows to log to stderr stops python
from using stderr inside callbacks/code called by wx.

When a python function is called by wxwindows code and tries to write to
sys.stderr (f.e. to print an exception traceback), nothing goes into
stderr if there was at least one message logged to stderr by wxwindows.

Example:

#v+
import wx
import sys

wx.LogMessage('This message stops tracebacks.')

class MyApp(wx.App):
def OnInit(self):
print >>sys.stderr, 'This message will not show, same with the
following traceback'
raise Exception

MyApp().MainLoop()
#v-

It is enough to comment out the 'wx.LogMessage()' statement to get both
the message and the traceback on stderr.

I see the same behaviour on my Ubuntu 8.10 box.

Package: xchm
Severity: important

Hi!

I was trying to use xchm version 0.9.3-1 today to read the manual of a mp3
player I have bought, I have found that while it was opening the file, it
was showing the web archive files inside the CHM instead of openning them,
so I was seing these mime based web archive files without being opened.

I was seing things like this:

MIME-Version: 1.0

This document is a Web archive file. If you are seeing this message, this

...

I have uploaded the chm file to my web, for you to test xchm with it:

The file is subject to whatever copyrights it may have and all that.

Hope that helps you improving the package.

Hi!

I'm closing this bug on the basis that it seems like this really isn't
anything the Debian maintainer should be involved. Please feel free to
take this upstream yourself, or ask the xchm upstream author to take
it to wx upstream, but I don't want to do so myself (and it might
already be fixed, I wouldn't know). It seems that Ron has already
tried to anyway, and that seems to be unsucessful.

Cheers,
Ryan
