Bug#514096: Minimum Profit text editor version 3.x can destroy UTF-8 files

2009-02-04 Thread Angel Ortega
Package: mped
Version: 3.3.17-1
Severity: critical
Tags: lenny

If you open and save files in an UTF-8 environment (the default in
lenny and any other modern system), non-ascii characters can be
incorrectly saved as question marks or simply deleted.

This bug is fixed in unstable (version 5.1.1-1).

Thanks,

Your package contains new components which requires manual editing of
the override file. It is ok otherwise, so please be patient. New
packages are usually added to the override file about once a week.

You may have gotten the distribution wrong. You'll get warnings above
if files already exist in other distributions.

Hi,

I was looking at return codes for applications making use of
openssl functions and found this in crypto/wvx509.cc:
int verify_result = X509_REQ_verify(certreq, pk);
if (verify_result == 0)
{
debug(WvLog::Warning, "Self signed request failed");
X509_REQ_free(certreq);
EVP_PKEY_free(pk);
return WvString::null;
}
else
{
debug("Self Signed Certificate Request verifies OK!\n");
}

X509_REQ_verify() is a function that returns the value of
ASN1_item_verify() which can return -1 in case the message
digest type is not known or there is an out of memory condition.

I have no idea what how this is used exactly or what the
consequences of this are.

If the attacker can not specify the certificate that is being
used there probably isn't any serious problem.

Kurt

Package: spong-client
Version: 2.7.7-21
Severity: normal

Hi,
after a fresh install of spong-client I missed the Load, Users and Jobs
graphs and gotfalse alarms red about not running cron- and syslog-daemons.

It turned out to be a wrong option of "sort" in /etc/spong/spong.conf:
$PS = "/bin/ps ax -O'%C ' | /usr/bin/sort +1 -r";

where "+1" is deprecated and has to be replaced by "-k1".

$PS = "/bin/ps ax -O'%C ' | /usr/bin/sort -k1 -r";

This is the case with
# sort --version
sort (GNU coreutils) 6.10

kind regards

Bug#514029: fixed

2009-02-04 Thread Debian Archive Maintenance
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

  qtorrent |  2.9.1-6.1 | source, all

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 514...@bugs.debian.org.

The full log for this bug can be viewed at http://bugs.debian.org/514029
