Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Coin,

tbp-initarchive used with a relative working_location works well but
should create '~/.tla-buildpackage' using the absolute path.
This would prevent people yelling because all other commands after
tbp-initarchive fail miserably(btw, these commands could detect the path
is bad).

thx

It would be beneficial if tbp-initarchive allowed to pass certain
options to tla. Reasonable examples:

 1. Create a signed archive:
Pass "--signed" to "tla make-archive".
This requires ~/.arch-params/signing/ARCHIVE_NAME to be set up
beforehand.

 2. The working directory is in a directory already under arch control:
Pass "--nested" to "tla init-tree".

Possibly other parameters also make sense, but these are the two I've
just run into.

It is, I think, a very common case that after having committed change
and marked the package, we find a new bug at build time.

In this case, we may don't want to make a new Debian version, for a
trivial fix. Unfortunately with tla-buildpackage, as far as I know, it
is very difficult to reuse the same Debian version number.

If it have sense not to reuse by default an old Debian version number, I'd
like to have, as an option, a way to overcome this default behavior.

At least, for thoughtless like me, documentation on how to deal with this
problem would be very interesting.

I try to switch from cvs-buildpackage to tla-builpackage, but I'm facing
some feature loose.

As I think that can be improved, I fill you this bug.

As a Debian maintainer I follow several branch of the same package, so I
need that the tla-builpackage don't prevent me to do this.

There is, I think, two common case. First, when there is multiple Debian
branch above the same upstream source. Second when there is multiple
upstream branch.

Default behavior of tla-buildpacge are good but, it should be possible
to overwrite them.

It would be nice if at import time it was possible to choose the branch
name and the version number, and better tell from witch version it is a
fork.

It would be also very interesting if we have some tools to help to works
on tla-buildpackage configs file.

If I try to import a project where the package name contains a period,
tla doesn't like it because it doesn't allow periods in project names:

# tbp-importdsc pdfkit.framework_0.8-2.1.dsc
...
 * tla archive-setup "[EMAIL PROTECTED]/pdfkit.framework--head--1.0"
archive-setup: invalid package name [EMAIL
PROTECTED]/pdfkit.framework--head--1.0
...

Obviously Debian allows periods in package names, so it would be nice if
tla-buildpackage would support them too, perhaps by changing the period
to, say, a dash when creating the tla project name.

Thanks
