tag 382772 + wontfix thanks Hey, I'm the new maint of mc, and I'm going through all bugreports. I can prepare a package if you want. Just a clarification: I'm not the megahal maintainer, and in fact Laurent Fousse recently orphaned it. I'm only interested in megahal because of #463146, related to the future Perl 5.10 transition. Cc'ing Laurent, as he still seems somewhat interested and was probably out of the loop wrt. the patch. Yup, I missed the mail. Thanks Niko for Cc'ing me. And for the patch, of course. > No opinion on the stable update, but I suppose I could prepare a QA > upload to sid myself if nobody steps up and adopts this... I don't have my GPG key at work, so it will have to wait for this evening. If you have a package ready go ahead. The reason I orphaned megahal is because I read its code too much for my own good recently. If it weren't for users I'd suggest removal :-) Over the time megahal has acquired a number of extension I seldom, if ever, used. It would be best if megahal was team-maintained by people who actually care about a Tcl, Python, and Perl module (and are willing to cope with the C codebase too). I've more or less given up. Markovian models are not hard to code properly, and I've just done that for a spam filter I consider including in debian. Writing a megahal replacement from that is just a matter of providing python bindings. Regards, Laurent. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Please contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] immediately.) -- 432291: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=432291 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: mc Version: 1:4.6.1-7 Severity: normal When decompressing a zip archive it seems like mc decompresses the files first to /tmp and then copies them to the appropriate location. But after it has been copied to the appropriate location the file in /tmp won't be deleted before the whole decompression process ended. When decompressing archives of several GB (bigger than my tmp partition) this leads to the problem that mc is unable to decompress the archive even all the single files would fit into /tmp without any problems. When the /tmp partition is full mc stops reacting and after some time it displays a "incomplete file received"-message. Emacs, bash, Gtk supports it and even mc on console does - but sometimes in very strange manner. Imagine this `mc' session: F5 (I want to edit final destination), A-b Background process error Child dies unexpectedly (Midnight crashed) Huh! Close examination reveals, that there is button "Background", which I have never used and have not cared about. "Background" has hotkey A-b and takes precedence (!) over A-b from active text entry editing command (another huh!), so A-b works everywhere as an editing command except move/copy dialog. Exploring a .deb file using mc I saw one file that doesn't exist on the ..deb, but mc says that it exists. Using the "zip" package, for example (zip_2.32-1_i386.deb). I run mc, enter on the .deb, enter on /DEBIAN and what I see is a file called "arquivo" (arquivo means "file", in Portuguese). (picture available at: http://naoliv.googlepages.com/1.png) Well, I can't see this file (pressing F3), neither copy it, nothing. The strange is that it has the same size of the .deb file. But using LC_ALL=C, with the same .deb, I don't see this nonexistent file (http://naoliv.googlepages.com/2.png). Any idea, please? Thank you! Bug#118717: marked as done ("Bytes" and "Total" count display wrong during file copy)
Your message dated Wed, 13 Feb 2008 22:17:03 + with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#118717: fixed in mc 1:4.6.2~pre1-1 has caused the Debian Bug report #118717, regarding "Bytes" and "Total" count display wrong during file copy to be marked as done. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] immediately.) -- 118717: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=118717 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: mc Version: 4.5.54-1.1 Sometimes, when copying a group of files using Midnight Commander, the "Bytes" and "Total" bars reach 100% much before the actual file copy process ends... Actually, they reach 100% much before it starts to copy the last file! This usually happen when I have plenty of BIG files (MP3's, AVI's or big tar.gz's and deb's) being copied (and is most noticeable when copying to/from NFS or DOS filesystems - possibly just because the copy process gets slower then). The easiest way to reproduce this is to copy the whole contents of a MP3 CD to the harddisk. I've witnessed this bug both on the frozen and on the stable distributions, using both 2.2.x or 2.4.x kernels; also, I've noticed this bug not to be Debian-specific (I've been able to reproduce it on both Mandrake 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1 systems). Hope I've been of some assistance...
