Bug#435993: htdig: crontest failure lockfile-create: command not found

2007-08-04 Thread Filippo Giunchedi
Package: htdig
Version: 1:3.2.0b6-3.1
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: cron-qa-20070804

Hi,
it seems that htdig cron files are giving output when the package itself is
removed
(REMOVE) or its dependencies (AUTOREMOVE).

log available at:
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/collab-qa/crontest/2007-08-04/logs/htdig_1:3.2.0b6-3.1_sid.cronlog?op=file

reported below:
AUTOREMOVE CRON.DAILY [] ['/etc/cron.daily/htdig: line 3: lockfile-create:
command not found\n']

you should check that lockfile-create is there

Package: libcorba-orbit-perl
Version: 0.4.7-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The libcorba-orbit-perl was recently recompiled as a binNMU (0.4.7-4+b1),
but the package ended up empty on alpha. This happens because the files
are installed using the shell variable $(PWD), which is cleared when
building with sudo. The proposed fix is to use $(CURDIR) instead, as it
is set by make and not cleared by sudo.

The build log can be found at

This patch adds a command line option to specify which radio device is to be
used for v4l devices. As udev creates numbered devices (eg. /dev/radio0)
instead of the hardcoded /dev/radio, this would be nice to have.

The config.* files your packages uses to determine the host system are
quite old. For example, it doesn't recognize mips64. While this is
not a problem right now since we don't have such a Debian port, your
config.* files are also too old to recognize a number of other systems
- ports people are currently working on, such as powerpc64 and
GNU/k*BSD. Therefore, please update your config.* files.

The cipe-source does works with any kernel supported by debian.

The latest upstream version (1.6.0) does not works too (last code
update was January 2002 because developer themself gave up the project
since cipe has no real reason to continue)

OpenVPN is more simple in config, uses existing kernel modules
(tun/tap modules), and the link is more reliable. On top of that
OpenVPN does not have "by design" weaknesses like the cipe protocol
has.

Due to very low popcon I think there is no reason to keep this
software in debian.

Hi,

this bug report is part of a mass-bugfiling. Your package

cipe-source

is calling depmod in its postinst and/or postrm scripts. With a
recent debhelper (5.0.37) and by calling dh_installmodules in the
rules script this is not neccessary any more. This report is related
to Bug#380159.

The full discussion is here

Hi,

While installing your package, the installation stops with a (critical)
debconf note saying:

If you are upgrading from an old (<= 1.3.0) version of CIPE...

You should use
  dpkg --compare-versions
to avoid displaying this note if the user is not upgrading from one of
these problematic versions.

Moreover, as far as I can see, there has never been a 1.3 version in
Debian (or this was previous to woody). This note can therefore simply
be removed.

Cheers,

It'd be nice if pkcipe added itself during installation to
/etc/inetd.conf, using the update-inetd utility. pkcipe requires the
machine's identity name as a parameter, so it would be necessary to
prompt for that name. That'd be a perfect time to also generate the
public/private key pair for the user.

Package: cipe

This package depends/pre-depends on debconf without allowing the dependency
to be satisfied with an alternate of debconf-2.0. That is to say, its
dependency should read: debconf | debconf-2.0

Until this is fixed, it is impossible to use this package with cdebconf,
and very hard to impossible to install cdebconf at all.

debconf-2.0 was added to policy as a virtual package in 2002 and has been
provided by debconf since 2003. In early 2004, dh_installdebconf began
automatically adding it as an alternate to debconf in dependencies it
generates for packages using debhelper. So if you're using a current
version of debhelper you should only need to rebuild your package and
review it. If you are not using debhelper, make sure the dependency is
modified to allow debconf-2.0 to satisfy it.

This bug report was filed by semiautomated means after a trio of posts to
the debian-devel mailing list, and you have probably also received a bcced
mail about the issue before. If your package's dependencies are correct and
it really has some valid reason to depend on debconf alone, please reassign
this bug report to cdebconf with an explanation of what debconf feature
your package depends on, so it can be reimplemented in cdebconf.

Package: pkcipe
Version: 1.5.2free-9
Severity: important

Hi,

I have a system with two independent links to the internet. I want cipe
traffic to use one interface (let's call it 'A') and everything else to use
the other interface ('B').

I wanted to accomplish this by connecting the pkcipe clients to the IP of
interface 'A'; I assumed this would be the IP pkcipe writes into the options
file for ciped as 'me'. But pkcipe always uses the IP of interface 'B',
probably for one or more of the following reasons:

- it is the 'primary interface' (eth0)
- it is the interface the default route points through
- it is the interface packets towards the clients would normally go out on

This is a major problem, because it means that on the clients I can't add a
route towards the subnet that includes 'B' through the cipe interface,
because the cipe packets themselves would be routed through the tunnel,
which obviously doesn't work.

The bug imho qualifies as 'important' because it can create all sorts of
unexpected routing and packet filtering screwups, 'making the package
unusable or mostly so to some people' (unless pains are taken to work around
the bug). Feel free to downgrade the priority if you don't agree.

Again, I think the correct behaviour would be to allocate the udp socket on
the interface the incoming tcp connection to pkcipe used (which should be
fairly easy to do).

Hi,

It'd be nice if pkcipe could be run under service monitors such as 'run' or
'daemontools'. This would require that pkcipe (and the ciped it starts) only
exit (return control to the calling script) when the connection goes down
and a restart of the session is in order.

A related option would be to send all output to stdout or stderr instead of
syslog. This would especially be useful in the mode of operation described
above.

Thanks,

Andrew

Package: vpim
Version: 0.15-1
Severity: serious

Hi!

This bug has been filed on multiple packages, and general discussions
are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal or debian-devel in
the thread with Subject: "Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in source packages".

It seems this source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

vpim-0.15/etc/rfc2425.txt
vpim-0.15/etc/rfc2426.txt
vpim-0.15/etc/rfc2445.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding a 'dfsg' version name to it.

3. Move the package to non-free.

I went over many packages looking for names of likely non-free files,
and there may be false positives. If this is the case for your
package, I'm sorry for the noise. I'll modify the scripts to take
into account false positives when I learn of them, and publish the
list of exceptions under "Known exceptions" at
.

Thanks,
Simon

Hi,

For i386, gtktalog depends on libglib1.2, and not on libglib1.2ldbl.
Or the former isn't available anymore and the later is.

This prevents a full apt upgrade, if I don't want to uninstall gtktalog.

May you rebuild the package to solve that dependancy issue ?

Thanks,

Massis

Package: libglade0
Version: 1:0.17-8

libglib1.2 in Unstable has been replaced by libglib1.2ldbl on July 11.
While libglade0 still requires libglib1.2, which leads to dependency
problem during installation.

$ sudo apt-get install libglade0
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libglade0: Depends: libglib1.2 (>= 1.2.0) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

I suggest that the dependency in libglade0 be corrected.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux Unstable, kernel 2.6.21-2-686 and libc6 2.6-2.

Packages which need to create a device node must depend on udev |
makedev.

Also, MAKEDEV must be called as /dev/MAKEDEV, not /sbin/MAKEDEV (and you
should remove the [ ! -c /dev/video0 ] test which is meaningless with
udev, and the devfs test which has been useless for a few years now).
