Bug#422599: sdcc: hc08 assembler incorrectly allows move to non-direct destination

2007-05-07 Thread Bas Wijnen
Package: sdcc
Version: 2.6.0-5
Severity: normal

The hc08 cpu understands several forms of the mov command, all involving
direct (and indexed) addresses. In particular, this is allowed:

mov #number, *address

while this is not:

mov #number, address

(because it is not a direct address)

When using the second form, the compiler does not complain. It should.
What's worse, when using the second form with an address larger than
255, it cannot generate correct code (because that doesn't exist). The
programmer is not notified about this, which makes finding the bug
extremely hard.

Version: 1.2.4-6
Severity: normal

I tried to install xgdvi. It insists on pulling in tetex packages, which
conflict with texlive that I use.

I may be wrong, but I think viewer apps are able to view dvi files no
matter what kind of latex were involved in creating the dvi.

Please consider having xgdvi depending on either tetex or texlive,
instead of demanding tetex. If it really can't work with texlive, just
close this bug.

Package: xgdvi
Version: 1.2.4-6

While checking bug #121240, the user upgraded xgdvi without upgrading
dvilib2, which caused problems (details bellow).

Adding a versioned dependency will solve this problem.

 Original Message
Subject:Re: Debian Bug report logs - #121240 xgdvi: Fonts broken on a
random default installation

From: Peter Eckersley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: Lior Kaplan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

hmmm, I zgrep-ed for it in Contents-i386.gz; I guess my copy of the
Contents file was too old.

Version 1.2.4-4.2 of dvilib2 is installed. dpkg -L shows:

/.
/usr
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/libdvilib2.so.13.0.0
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/dvilib2
/usr/share/doc/dvilib2/00_PRODUCTS
/usr/share/doc/dvilib2/changelog.gz
/usr/share/doc/dvilib2/copyright
/usr/share/doc/dvilib2/00_README.gz
/usr/share/doc/dvilib2/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/lib/libdvilib2.so.13

perhaps you need a versioned dependency?

Anyway, with dvilib2 upgraded, xgdvi runs again.

Unfortunately, the display bug is still present!

Could you send me in output of
dpkg -l dvilib2 xgdvi
and
dpkg -L dvilib2 xgdvi

(notice that the first command has small L and the second one has
large L).

Thanks.

I intended to preserve the "Skip the EPS without handling its content"
logic, because I didn't know what problem it fixes.

Your patch would have called readline() recursively via the
SKIP_UNTIL_1() macro and then parsed also the contents of the EPS
(but I think it would have handled triply nested ps files correctly).

But thanks for checking my fix.

Cheers,
Stefan

2007-05-07 Thread Sanjoy Mahajan
I've also been using the following patch to build the new source
package on various flavors of Debian and Ubuntu. The problem is that
quilt returns various error codes depending on the version of quilt.
For example:

For example, with Debian 3.1/i386, quilt 0.39-2:

  $ ( cd /tmp ; quilt pop -a ; echo $? )
  No patch removed
  1

With Ubuntu 7.04/i386, quilt 0.45-6:

  $ (cd /tmp ; quilt pop -a ; echo $? )
  No patch removed
  2

With Debian stable/testing/unstable mix, quilt 0.46-2:

  $ (cd /tmp ; quilt pop -a ; echo $? )
  No patch removed
  1

The quilt manpage doesn't document any exit codes, so I don't know
which version is correct, and instead work around it by allowing
either in the rules file.

Should I resubmit this email as a separate BTS entry? It seemed too
tiny to be worth it, but let me know.
