Bug#287658: gengetopt 2.17 as new upstream?

2006-08-14 Thread Mikko Rapeli
tags 287658 +patch
thanks

Indeed, gengetopt could be upgraded to 2.17 which debianizes nicely. I
think the gnu/kfreebsd related build failure is fixed in the upstream
version, but someone should verify it?

New interesting features include possibility to init and free memory
used by the parser, which translates to nicer valgrind memcheck figures
to some programs. At least cmdline_parser_configfile function changed
its interface, but nothing too big.

This package depends on the aalib1 package which has recently been
renamed to libaa1 and which is now a dummy package pending removal.
Please update your packages to build-depend on libaa1-dev and link
against libaa1. This is also an important pare of the slang2 transition.
It will probably be as simple as a recompile.

Hi !

Debian asmounter has the following bug in Woody and Sid :
- matching in /proc/mounts is poorly coded so on similar mount points,
asmounter thinks the FS is already mounted and it won't let you mount it.

Example:
- I use the /usb mount point
- but /proc/bus/usb is mounted
- so asmounter thinks /usb is mounted and I cannot mount /usb !

Similar problems can occur, if you use /mnt/cdr and /mnt/cdrom for example...

A trivial fix is included: it add spaces around the string to match to
make sure that it won't match a substring.

Also the URL in the debian/copyright file is dead.

Cheers,

Package: xchat
Version: 2.4.1-0.1
Severity: important

Whenever i use xchat it starts to consume a big amount of pixmap memory, as
reported
by xrestop. I'm currently running my system for about 2 hours and the usage is
already
up to 560234K. This usage also climbs during usage and eventually renders my
box unusable
when it swaps out a lot of this memory, and eventually fills the swap as well.

I'm not sure if this problem is related to xchat, gtk, or my gtk engine. I see
that the
gtk2 engine i'm using (gtk2-engines-gtk-qt 0.60-1) is not in the list below of
packages
xchat depends on below. It only really happens with xchat (altough the gtk+
apps i'm
using are on the top of the xrestop list), so i reported it with xchat.

Currently, my xrestop output looks like this:

xrestop - Display: localhost:0

Package: gaim
Version: 1:1.3.1-2
Severity: minor

I've seen this in every version of gaim I've used. The bottom scroll button is
simply missing from the convesation window.
There is a button at the top with an up arrow, and the scroll bar but the
scroll arrow buttons on the bottom are missing.
The issue is resolved by increasing the size of the window.

Package: gtk2-engines-gtk-qt
Version: 0.60-2
Severity: normal

When I start workrave (v. 1.8.1-1+b1, Debian package) with the "Use my
KDE style in GTK applications" option checked in the KDE control centre,
it crashes whenever the "Time for a micro-break" dialog is about to
pop-up, with the following error message:

The program 'workrave' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1991 error_code 8 request_code 62 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Also, if I try to start a rest break manually, it either crashes with
the same error message, or keeps printing the following error message
(only the serials change), but seems to work otherwise:

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 62 (X_CopyArea)
Serial number of failed request: 2252
Current serial number in output stream: 2379

None of this happens when I don't use the Qt style for GTK apps.
